THANK YOU!!! so much for your videos. I watched a few today, and corrected the issue w/ my Ring Generation 2 not charging off of the doorbell wires. I bought a kit on amazon for $5, it had the power kit v3 and a bunch of supplies, amazing price! anyway, the Ring website says the power kit v3 is not for the generation 2, but it worked! I also learned how to include my house chime or not thx to your videos, and learned where my transformer is. so beneficial, keep up the great work! Really appreciate it! cheers
Our builder installed the Ring Doorbell Pro and a mechanical chime, but skipped this step. The Ring worked fine (apparently the 16v from the transformer is sufficient for both) but the chime would frequently buzz, sometimes loudly. Fortunately, they left the box with the Ring Pro Power Kit V2, so I connected it into the chime, and now it seems to work fine without buzzing. Thanks! (But I already did buy a Ring Chime, so I'm just using that alone)
if you're not using a preexisting home doorbell ....and installing straight to wall outlet ... this Elk TRG2440 24VAC, 40 VA AC Transformer with PTC Fuse works great with the Pro power kit version 2 ..BUT ...WITH THE POWER KIT V2 PEEL OFF THE STICKER AND YOU WILL FIND 2 HOLES ON SIDE OF THE V2 KIT USE that INSTEAD OF THE SNAP-IN WIRES PROVIDED
Power kits are essentially capacitors. Just like the initial power draw for an AC compressor, the power kit adds the extra start up draw for the chime mechanical assembly.
@@mjohnslo If I don’t have an existing mechanical chime and plan on using only echo devices as my “chimes” can I use the ring pro doorbell 2 without the “power kit”?
After installing the pro power kit to our doorbell chime (new construction home), I now have a continuous buzz/hum coming from the chime box. This did not exist prior to installing the Ring Video Doorbell Pro. Is there something additional I need to do to eliminate this buzz/hum?
That happened to me when I was fooling around with the doorbell itself. I think that means the wires that are connected to the Ring doorbell aren't tightened enough around the screws.
can it be possible to have the front and rear connections go to the door bell ? my setup is very strange at home... when I remove the front or rear connection my ring door bell pro would turn off in the front door... I thought one of the connection from the ring pro should goto a transformer and one connection to the front in the chime ? can you let me know what is best way to find out how to resolve this crazy setup ? this was installed by someone and my mechanical chime hummms or makes noises annoying.
Do you just shut the power off to the ring? Also does this make the doorbell ring again? Cause I don’t want it too! Is this just for the ring to stay charge more?
I had mine hooked up exactly like this but when you press the button on the Ring doorbell, you'd only hear the "Ding" but no "Dong". I removed the Pro Power Kit from the trans. screw but left it connected at the front screw and voila! "Ding Dong". Is there a reason why it won't work completely when it's hooked up the way Ring and you have explained the Pro Power Kit?
Hello, I have a ring video doorbell pro. I have one chime box, but I have 2 doorbell buttons one at front door and one at rear door. I want video pro on rear door. Instructions say to connect pro power kit v2 to the front /trans. but I want to connect to the rear so should I connect to rear/trans of the chime box and would the doorbell in the front still work thanks for any help. Dave
You are exactly correct. You would want to connect it to the rear & trans. If you get it powered up and it’s having problems. You will need to upgrade your transformer or bypass the chime. A 16v 30 va transformer works very well. This will show you why you would need to upgrade th-cam.com/video/QUO7o_vrEMw/w-d-xo.html. Good luck!
@@sellgooddeals-DIY Hello and thanks again for all the feedback. So. I have one last issue for connecting this weekend. I have one chime if I bypass the rear for ring pro. Is there a way to still use the regular front door chime as before. So use the rear with pro bypass and the front with normal chime
Hey! Help me please. What happen when my house is in construction and I don’t have chime. I’ll buy a ring doorbell pro. How to install ring doorbell pro ?
Yes you need to install this. Chances are you are having a voltage issue with your transformer. A standard transformer does not have enough capacity to power the Ring doorbell and the doorbell chime. You need to upgrade your transformer to a 16V30VA transformer or bypass your chime. If you want your doorbell to work correctly. One of those to options will fix your problem. Otherwise, you will rip your hair out trying to get this to work.
what is inside the ring power kit v2 ? and what does it do ? I mean why do we need to install it ? thanks.

What if I don’t have a chime how would I directly connect it to the transformer?
I have the same question.
Do yo have to have a chime?
Nope, no chime required.
To keep the original chime, do I need a 16v/30a or a 24v/40a transformer ?
The bare minimum for it to work is a 16V30VA transformer.
@@sellgooddeals-DIY a 24V 40VA would be fine?

I would bypass the chime, use an echo as the chime.

How to install ring doorbell pro ?
Do you have an electronic doorbell? Wires for a button?
Do i need this to be installed? will it helf the wifi connection?

How do you wire for 2 separate pros? I have one on my front door that is perfect, but the back door one won’t do anything.
Does both the doorbells go back to the same chime? Did the doorbell on the side/rear button work prior to installing?
Where are the rest of the wires? Like the white wire from transformer
I opened mine up and instead of saying front, back and trans, mine says 0, 1, 2, 3. I’m already lost lol.
lovely content
You should revise this to show how the V2 can be used to bypass the mechanical chime.....
I did put one up last week, just hasn't had any traction yet. I do appreciate the ideas. th-cam.com/video/6XRaH7AE8uc/w-d-xo.html
