Well for one thing your, triceps I guess - not a physiologist, are going to be way more strong than your tendons and ligaments and you're pulling directly against those. I don't know how to put it but it feels like I'm going to rip my shoulders from my chest when I do anything like this. But also notice how they struggle and strain and are all over the place. The exercise leads to bad form and more injuries
@@CapAnson12345 I mean this with no intended rudeness but the most correct thing you said in your comment was "not a physiologist", just to kill off all the rest of the comment immediately, ligaments and tendons are far stronger than muscles, far, far stronger.
That's the problem today. It full of Nancy bitches and have to have dictators and mommy's run ever aspect of there lives tell them what's safe what your allowed to do what you should think. . I wish I could go back in time.
Bill Kazmaier set the benchmark to which today's strongmen aspire. The weights will always become heavier. Each generation redefines what is possible. What Bill Kazmaier has over his competition is the mental strength advantage, his focus is second to none. There is nothing negative about his accomplishments, we should be looking at his example to learn.
Can't believe this vid is ten years old. I'd watch this and the other three before most gym sessions and seeing how cool it was to perform such feats inspired me to get serious about lifting. Great music choices too, may these never be removed.
Whats so amazing is he did only the basic steroids. Imagine his strength if he was in his prime now with all the new peptides, sarms, hgh ect. He probably was doing just test injections, dbol ect
Bill is strong, but Samson holds the record of strongest (normal) man to ever live... having single-handedly destroyed thousands of demonic Philistines. We too can do supernatural feats of strength, healing, etc... if we call on Jesus in faith.
Mark Henry is not, nor has he ever been the strongest man in the world. That is the title he uses for WWE. Not taking anything away from the guy. He's a beast.
Kaz and Jon Pall are the 2 greatest champions in history of the sport. Kaz had the raging, brute strength and its a shame he wasn´t invited to WSM 83-88, had he been he would have the most titles. And Jon Pall simply had it all, speed, strength, technique and also was the most charismatic of all WSM competitors.
GREAT video. I'm a big fan of Kaz, he was an amazing powerlifter, and he looks like John Belushi's roided up older brother you'd never want to fuck with, whats not to like?
@hardstyleremixer Body building has a specific purpose, to increase muscle mass. Strong men train for whole body training. Professional lifters train to perform specific lifts etc. It depends what you're specifically training for. One thing to keep to keep in mind though is that size does not equal strength.
@liamglen1 In 1981 he totaled 1100 kg in a powerlifting competition (squat, deadlift, and bench press). His best individual lifts were about (converting from lists measured in pounds) 420.5 kg - squat, 300.5 kg - bench press, and 403 kg - deadlift.
How many deadlifts, squats, presses and cleans have these guys done in their lives? Must be tens of thousands of times I'm guessing. The numbers are unbelievable....
I dont remember which year it was but I remember watching the strongman contest and the event had to do with loading kegs. All the contestants struggled ,wile Bill tossed them on like they were empty, it was fucking amazing . Always remember that.
This is real strength. Not steroid glamour muscles like some body builders. Impressive stuff. You can just look at these guys and see how strong they are. They're just built differently than most.
I was in a hotel lobby in Jacksonville FL for the FL/GA football game in 2004 and in walks Bill. I grabbed my buddy, and said, "holy shit that's THE KAZ". I think Bill heard it, and I went over to meet him. He was a nice guy, but he did put his bag down and told me to watch it for 15 minutes while he "took care of something." I did of course. He came back and shook my hand and went on his way. I was 5'10" maybe 215lbs and all muscle, but I felt like I had a baby's hand when I shook his.
i agree bill was one of the greatest power lifters of all time but zavickas has set 40 + world records in strongman competitions , he is the best all round strongman ever
he won 3 times end winning them all in the years 1980 81 en 82 if im correct the major point is he won it en then again 2 times after his first won thats why they said he cant compete again the man is TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO STRONG !!!!!
Hey, i am Chalmers Bigneys great-granddaughter, my mother is his granddaughter and her father Nathan was Chalmers son who also had the strenght. I was wondering if you knew anything else about Chalmers because my family has lost most of his records. I was also wondering how you heard this? word of mouth because i know that many parents had passed down the legend of Chalmers to their children. I still live in River John, NS and there is a plaque dedicated to him, he could have been in Ripleys.
@narulov57 the build you see there is all functional muscle, lifters like this all look thick in the middle because they develop extremely strong cores to support their spine and everything else. if they didnt they would have serious injuries trying to do heavy lifts. there probably is some fat in the middle left over from bulking up before the events, but really most of that is just functional muscle
One of the best videos on TH-cam. What a nice revisit!
Ive been watching this.video for 6 years to get motivations and it always gets me
yeah, me too... :-)))))

Still watching since the beginning!! Am in my 30s now. Still lifting, this video is still a source of motivation.
They had so many ridiculously unsafe events in WSM in those days.. I cringed watching the bar bending. But Kazmaier was a beast regardless.
+CapAnson12345 had exactly the same felling
How is that unsafe

Im still watching this video even now

You're telling me! They certainly still fire me up! Thank you!
This video inspired me as well into competing in strongman.
"whats your max deadlift?"
16,000.
"what do you mean, 16,000??"
Oh, $16,000 in gold coins. It was like 900lbs or something
The bearded guy was always awesome in these too, and he never looked as big as most of the competitors, kaz was The man though
Geoff Capes, solid dude.
duuuuude i was in fucking 6th grade when i first saw this video, i cant believe its still on here im so glad. wow. flash back.
He gets so focused and fired up his eyes look insane
He looks like the real life joe Swanson or mr. Incredible or something
He looks like mr incredible xD
They based Mr Incredible off him
When America was great!
Sweden is Lost lol smh
i wantch this when I was little and I loved it so much I spend forever to find it again
amazing absolutley unreal !!!
every body already knows who was the strongest man ever lived samson duh
You are correct....amazing strength because of gods holy spirit operating on him
Whats so amazing is he did only the basic steroids. Imagine his strength if he was in his prime now with all the new peptides, sarms, hgh ect. He probably was doing just test injections, dbol ect

Sad all that’s thought about is what he could have done if he cheated more
LiftingForLolis not cheating when everyone does it.
Just shows that more is never better it’s all about the hard work which people avoid and just take as much steroids as they can
MARIJAN MATIJEVIĆ junak iz LIKE...............

Kazmaier is awesome. Best person ever to commentate WSM. Huge fan.
The "Kaz" was so good at his time, that at 0:25 he even takes the time to work on his Robert DeNiro impression.

Žydrūnas Savickas is stronger :)
Big Z is slightly weaker than a black hole. But there's not much in it.
Paul anderson the strongest man of all time
mark henry is the worlds strongest man

Lisa Jurcsak world strongest kid not man

Without question he would have been the first man to bench press 700 pounds raw in competition had he not tore his pec.
Wow bill kazmaier is a legend! I don't think anyone will live up to him

The Legend
Pound for pound, Jouko Ahola was the strongest of the strongmen period. Weighing around 240ish he dominated the 300+lb competition. That says it all.

To see Kaz psych himself up... makes me wanna lift big :)
P.S. Geoff Capes was incredible at bending bars.
Good video. Thanx.
Kaz will compete again!! This year at age 65!!!
Is anyone else just as tired as i am when it comes to everbody using this song?
One of my top videos before i lift
I was up in Alaska back in August and I randomly ran into Bill in a Chiropractors office. I was surprised I got to meet him and shake his hand.

1:09 Nature's amazing. No matter how big muscles you have, the power to pull the truck is still delivered to the ground via the toes.
3:53 80s style!
I miss those oldschool events like the bar bend, and the tug war at 4:49 . they should take place again in strongman competitons nowadays.
All I can say is, is that anyone who makes the WSM is a pure badass, now quit hating.
Bill was beautiful
He is in a league of his own. We have not seen his equal yet.
