    One of the BEST videos EVER on this subject. ❤️ the music the way you broke things down in categories and the exotic cities chosen. You can never please everyone as this is so personal, but super choices.

      nohasamy77 Cairo have something, what no other cities on the whole Earth.... Even its a bit out of the city, but really close....This enough to be part of the best of bests... Giza Plateau is a center of the Earth, and the biggest wonder of the humanity...No way to skip Cairo from any kind of lists... 🙂

    Rio is the scariest, most dirty place I have ever been. I never felt safe there. The architecture is nothing special. The setting is amazing, but that's all it has going for it. Even New Delhi us cleaner and safer. Athens has great history, but is very poluted, and has some of the least friendly

    Well, am I the only who discovered, you stoping the music when you showing a mosque inside? And this is the only church you show inside in the clip, and when you showing in the Aia Sophia there is a witten name of "Allah" and exactly in the middle of the videoclip? Just I'm curious it looks deliberate for me... 😀

    • @jaabko
      @jaabko  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jaaxto Henry Wauu, you are a very good observer 🙂... Yes, it was deliberate to hide some extras in the clip, but not all you mentioned was planed. As I counting the inner mosque picture not exactly in the middle of the clip, but all the other things you discovered are true, I respecting the religious traditions...But I never thought anybody would notice this 😃....Thank you and all the best....

    This is a very good list, more or less. Maybe Bruges, Florence and Strasbourg are missing. Maybe Tallin too. I agree about Rio(but only the view) not the city itselt. Venice in fact is the most beautiful for me, the most unique city in the world. Paris and Rome tie in second place, Then Budapest and Prague, Vienna, Krakow and ..........many more.
    Dresden is also very beautiful........and Rothenburg in Germany, and Sienna in Italy, and what about Granada, Sevilla and Salamanca in Spain. It is a very good list but I am sure is better to do a list with 50 cities instead of only 22! Anyway .....good for you!

    • @trollkickerexperts5906
      @trollkickerexperts5906 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think Riga more attractive as Tallinn, but very small cities both, as Strasbourg, Bruges also. Rothenburg and Siena also too small places, Granada, Sevilla, Salamanca too, they are same quality but mediocre quantity. From all of your suggestions only Florence have reality, but I think he choosed two italian cities into the top 10, it was no way another, third italan city there - no other country have 2 cities on the lst...

    Cairo and Istanbul is so much like Delhi as the buildings, architecture, food and people are quite similar ( may it be different cultures). They have big roads, beautiful people, architectural marvels, and food is amazing.

    The criteria used seems arbitrary and impertinent. Skyscrapers or not, San Francisco is truly one of the worlds most beautiful cities; skyscrapers are ok for NY but not SF? Come on. And what about Florence? This segment should be redone and "Jewelry" is spelled with one "L" not two.

    • @jaabko
      @jaabko  10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The criterias creating the possibility, that I can use the word "objective". It could be a race between Chicago and New York, "which city is the pioneer in the skyscraper-race?", but not between Frisco and New York. That's a historical fact, that on the late 19th century New York won this race against Chicago, and became a leader of the most attractive and beautiful skyscrapers, designed by classical or modern. I didn't want to said Frisco isn't liyng on a beautiful geographical place, or didn't have attractive buildings, but your city didn't fulfill the criteria of "originality" in the architecture. No same place as NY in the world - that city is one of the top mark, what the human race created. Sorry, nobody can say this about Frisco.
      Florence could be on the list, but I found Firenze is still much smaller, than other cities on the list, except Gent. I counted always not the objective quantity of the city, but the quantity of the architecturally valued historical "old towns", and in this Firenze very precious, but very small. In an other list - the most beautiful smalltowns of the world - it will be there surely, on the top part of the list. :-)
      And finally: sorrowful english isn't my native language, so I can mistake, but what you said about "jewelry" or as I wrote: "jewellery" you are not right. I think I can use that word.
      en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewellery
      All the best and thank you your commenting.

      Marc de Gat Yes San Fran is beautiful too but he only had 22 cities and it was his best honest opinion! I heard St. Petersburg in Russia was very beautiful and I know Seattle and Vancouver are awesome but u can make up your own list! U seem very emotionally attached 2 SF so try your own list and b objective if u can!

      SF is so beautiful very similar to Seattle! I love Innsbruck Austria, Bath England, Vancouver BC, Toronto, Montreal, Williamsburg VA, Entebbe Uganda, Lake Como, Geneva, Munich Germany, Astoria Oregon, Honolulu, Key West, Mombasa Kenya, and so many more that I have not seen yet! I need to get to Asia, South America and Australia/New Zealand some day! Indonesia and the Philippines look awesome too!

    No Lisbon?! With all its monuments and History that come from the Arab, Roman and other eras, the cradle from where departed the armadas of the Discoveries in the XV century to discover Brazil and India, a nice cultural and cosmopolitan atmosphere, several years considered the best european destination for city short breaks, beautiful landscapes that can be seen from the top of its hills and belvederes, the trams, the old buildings and districts, the castle and the monasteries, with the big estuary of the river Tagus marking the landscape, and a few kilometers away from the Atlantic shore and from the most western point of continental Europe, with beautiful natural reefs and beaches,... well, with all that and no Lisbon on the list?
    It's always subjective, ok, I understand. But for me (and it's just another opinion) Lisbon, as well as other european historical cities (such as Florence, Toledo, Prague, Budapest, Vienna, and others) must always be on every list of the most beautiful cities.

    Agreed, but there are many beautiful cities in Latin America you didn´t mentioned; such as Medellín and Cartagena in Colombia; Ushuaia, San Carlo de Bariloche, Salta and Buenos Aires in Argentine; Santiago and Port Montt in Chile, Antigua in Central America; and Cancún and Mexico in Mexico, the world is also LA.
    These tops never mentione Latin America, excuse me!

    • @jaabko
      @jaabko  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Isaac Barrera Thank you very much your comment. My list have subjective elements, but I kept myself to the objective criterias. I checked all of the cities you mentioning in your comment, but non of them fit with the criterias. Ushuaia, San Carlo de Barlichone, Port Mont, Medelin and Antigua locating on very nice, panoramic places, but non of them have significant architectural heritage, and all of them very small cities. Cartagena really complex, but small city, remembering me to the "Kyoto-problem" - impossible to put on the list a city, which have only few valuable streets, even those few are extremely precious. You mentioned few big metropolis also: Mexico City and Santiago de Chile very mixed, in many case skyscraper oriented cities, with smaller colonial architecture. From Latin America only 2 cities was very close to reach the list: Buenos Aires and Havanna. Both cities have special character, by in architecture and culture. If this list could be extended to top 40, these 2 cities must be in the list. But there was limitation in the numbers. And as I suggested in the clip: if nothing deciding, the third criteria: the "panoramic view" will decide. Nor Buenos Aires or Havanna have real panoramic landscape. This is why only Rio de Janeiro representing Latin America in this list on the nice 12th place.
      LA is a copycat skyscraper city, no place on any top list... But San Francisco could be on an extended Top 40 list. :-)

    • @isaacbarrerareyes
      @isaacbarrerareyes 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @jaaxtohenry3776 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Madrid is beautiful, but nothing special. No panoramic view, no river or hill. If I think about Spain, I think that Barcelona is much more relevant. The architecture there much more impressive (art nouveau everywhere), and there are the see. This is not a Barca-Real match, this is aestethic. Be honest, where you want to live more: in the middle of a half-desert with horrible hot weather, or on the seaside with soft, windy mediterranean weather? Barcelona is the winner in every segment!

      Perhaps because this clip is about the cities, not about churches, monastries, lonely UNESCO heritage sites. In Asia - because of the historical, geographical reson - you dont have too much complex cities, what you can showing. Majority of the places full with colonial architecture, mixed with boring skyscrapers. Iran, Yemen have very special cities, Sanaa on the list, but Iran cities are too small. Many people talk about Kyoto, but Kyoto historical town is just few streets - how can you compare that with such magnificent places like Prague etc.

The tallness of a building is not value alone, the whole structure much more important. Skyscraper cities boring things....

    • @jaabko
      @jaabko  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +White Pearl St. Petersburg fantastic city, but not Prague or Venice. St. Petersburg built on the 18th century. The city not existed before the 18th century. Prague was the capitol of the Holy Roman Empire in the 16th century. Venice was the world economical center in the 14-15th century, as well as Amsterdam in the 17th century... With its relatively "new" buildings Petersburg not compatible with those medieval origin cities....

    • @2ArtoCodes
      @2ArtoCodes 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sándor Balázs It's a moot point really! In Russia argue on this subject is very hot. It is believed that St. Petersburg is much older than commonly believed. In addition it is built on ancient ruins.
      I can tell you one thing - this city really is full of secrets and mysteries. I like Prague, but I think Peter is a more cultural city.

    • @jaabko
      @jaabko  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      White Pearl Could be but those ruins still not buildings. Moscow much older city, but far more not so compact, as Peter....

    • @2ArtoCodes
      @2ArtoCodes 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sándor Balázs I assure you. There are structures and foundations of buildings more than 2000 years old.
      Look at the city! It all the first floors sunk into the ground! Have you ever been there? If you go be sure to ask this.
      There is a theory that in the 18th century the city was restored. Its ancient name - Jericho. And there's so many facts.
      But I don't want to argue on this topic. Everyone likes something different.

Paris has the Eiffel tower, Arch de triomphe, Beautiful Champs-elysees, Louvre, Seine River, The Louvre Museum, Notre Dame and Sacre-Coeur, The lafayette and Printemps . La defense, The Palace of Versailles, The Opera, Centre Pompidou, The Hotel de Ville, The Naopleon Bonaparte Tomb in Ecole Militaire, The Place Vendome and many more.. with beautiful and graceful buildings.. Amsterdam, Venice and Prague( Old town square only) ... What? They do not have even the top 20 attractions in the world...

      LOL at Paris only having 19th century architecture. It's true that it's what the city is known for (Haussman) but the entire "old city" is late medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and Rococo. That's the chunk of Paris that includes the Notre Dame/Ile de la Cite/Ile Saint Louis area, The Latin Quarter, Le Marais, Louvre, Conciergerie and spreads to neighbouring areas. That's pretty much the bulk of the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th arrondissements and parts of the 2nd and 6th. This area is far bigger than the old centers of any European city.
      Large parts of the rest of the city is 19th century Second Empire Haussmannian architecture and neo-classical stuff. And of course there is some Art deco which defined the Paris of the interwar period.
      So while it is true that the majority of Paris is 19th century, the sheer size of the city (Paris city centre, or intra muros, is a 10-12km diameter circle) means that the old centre alone (say 10%-15% of the city) is already larger than anything else of that nature anywhere in Europe. And while a few of the major boulevards of this area have been redesigned in the 19th century, it still features the original architecture of the pre-19th century Paris. And not just monuments and churches but ordinary buildings too.
