Very, very good point about ride comfort. I had a 2008 V8 diesel Audi Q7, it was very nice EXCEPT when it was just you driving and the road had ripples in the road....it was most painful to my previously severely injured lower back in 2012. The air suspension in either Auto or Comfort could not take these out. I tried different tyres, different pressures. The rims were already 18 inch, which is the smallest available for that SUV. The only thing that worked was weight...200 kgs are good, even more is better still. When it towed our 2.4 full sized van the ride was supreme, the best my poor back could ask for. Because of my back, even just hooking up and unhooking the van was painful to my back. I had to sell her because of this comfort issue (I bought an S class long wheel base diesel Merc, which has beautiful suspension), same year 2008. There were many many positives to owning the Q7, in fact it was my favourite vehicle for a long time. I do miss it and know that financially I took a massive hit selling it. However the Merc is great. Sure the Q7 was much easier to get in an out of, but that is no problem for me. I also had a 2004 Kia Sorrento petrol a long time ago. It had good high profile tyres (65 I think), where as the Audi was 55. It rode beautifully. I which I had not traded her in. She was a very comfortable ride...far better than the Q7’s air suspension. So ride comfort IS very important.
I had a Santa Fe Highlander a few years ago, loved it, but wanted a 4WD so traded it in. Always said I would go back to a Santa Fe but I think the Highlander is way overpriced now compared to it's competition.
I have a question... If I don’t drive “a lot”, does that mean I should stay away these diesels? But highlander doesn’t even have another engine to choose from?

@TRAINing the world 3 people agreeing in over 2 years doesn’t really affirm your opinion (in my opinion), especially when I take into account every TH-cam review I’ve watched on the mk4 Santa Fe come to the same conclusion, and that’s the opposite to yours. If you work in the motor industry, maybe it’s best not to be so dismissive and blinkered. Your comment was obviously not based on actually driving and experiencing this particular car, you obviously just have a downer on it maybe purely because of the badge? I don’t work in the motor industry, but I’ve owned many cars, many of them premium brands, bmw,Mercedes,Jaguar,Volvo, this time round I bought (you guessed)a mk4 Santa Fe. I’m sure your comment must be a misplaced opinion based on previous Hyundai products, back then I’d have agreed, but not anymore.

I agree with everything except for his statement of 'sharp pricing'

Every Hyundai is now overpriced. No longer a value leader in any of their cars. The base models are fleet model specials.
Awsome advert.
Great car. Match Kia’s 7 year warranty for that money and I’m sold.

Idyllsend for us in Honduras it costs 35k which is about the price of a 4x2 Isuzu Mu-x so it’s still kinda expensive still...

No petrol engine option with AWD. Terrible headlights. No thank you. I'll stick with my Kodiaq.
What the hell has happened to caradvice? The Santa Fe is only fit for the rental car market. Dull and boring.
