    I always said, it needs a V6. I had a 2012 LTD with 3.5L. It was a beast! No news of a V6 in Canada yet!

    Great review mate in fact it's what had me check out the V6 after I was disappointed in the diesel . I just changed my Santa Fe diesel for the Petrol V6 Active X, love it much smoother than the 2.2 CRDI and the car is a great all round drive.

      We bought a 2017 Active X v6 3.3 litre and just traded that on a 2022 Highlander v6 3.5 litre.
      Love the petrol v6 engine.

      Love the petrol v6 engine. Enough power and torque. Diesel for towing. Petrol much more refined and not bad on fuel. On the freeway I can get in 8.9 l/ 100 km.

      @@CarExpertAus Have to echo the positive feedback of the gang here (and indeed as in your other reviews too!) I reckon you're onto a great formula with the review format, length, and just general vibe. Genuineness is such a valuable differentiator and especially so for a platform such as YT, which seems to proliferate either extremist clickbaiters, or fawning brand apologists with no substance, so keep up your down-to-earth no-punches-pulled approach mate! It is refreshing!

      CarExpert, I can’t think of anything you could do different. But Matt Watson does it right so if you feel like you’re missing something, check on him. With your own twist of course.

    $50k and you get a pair of nasty halogens, ouch. Also is the rear indicators located at the bottom or the top clusters of the rear lights? I've seen Kia putting them at the bottom clusters which is extremely hard to see at times when it is literally below your bonnet.

    • @CarExpertAus
      @CarExpertAus  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You’re right - they’re a bit tricky to see when mounted low at the rear! I think the updated Santa Fe will move to a full LED lighting system.

    LOVE LOVE LOVE our Santa Fe’ had it 1 year now. 2019 model and The ride, room, plenty of power. and all the extra’s love the upscale style inside and out. We don;t get the 3rd row option and that is nice to have in a pinch. It’s not meant to be used for adults I can clealy see. This is a mid sixed SUV that compares with Mazda CX5, Honda CRV, RAV4. You get a lot more car for your money than any of those. Palisade is the Full Sized SUV.

    What drew me to buy the 2020 Sante Fe was how open and spacious the driver's area felt. I got the fully loaded package and love everything. But now with the raised center console in the 2024, it feels confining and closed-in. I love the new lighter interior option, but that tight closed-in cockpit driver experience is a hard "No" from me. And I would really hate to loose the bench back seat as I load a lot on those. I have no need of a 3rd row. Sad, because I was willing to upgrade and pass on my 2020 to family. But I'll keep the more open expansive version.

    You display 1625 litres cargo space with all seats down but the latest review you’ve done of the 2022 Kluger you displayed 1150 litres a with all sears down. The Kluger is larger so how can it have nearly 500 litres less cargo space with all sears down ?

    • @OPMDK
      @OPMDK 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      CarExpert the last new design was very good and the upcoming / recently debuted new design is evolutionarily even better; Hyundai has some really great products hindered by a few small quibbles that they are systematically resolving and a historically poor dealer network in the US

    Does the Highlander have Matrix LEDs? And what are your thoughts about the v6 vs the diesel?

    • @CarExpertAus
      @CarExpertAus  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I prefer how the V6 drives but ultimately the ability to have all wheel drive in the diesel is much better. No matrix LED on Highlander from memory but the next generation Santa Fe will come with that tech!

  • @hadtobe4502
    @hadtobe4502 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why is the petrol front wheel drive only, and then the diesel gets all wheel drive. Are they trying to get rid of their diesels in Australia with our poor fuel emission standards. They are really going out of fashion in Europe, UK.

  • @OldManMick
    @OldManMick 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    FWD only relegates this squarely into the "missed opportunity" bucket, irrespective of anything/everything else it does well. So close Hoondee ... a swing, and a miss!

    • @CarExpertAus
      @CarExpertAus  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It’s a strange one! It’s a really nice engine - just a bit spicy when all the torque is sent through the front wheels.

    • @joshbacon8241
      @joshbacon8241 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Why doesn’t Hyundai offer the V6 on four-wheel-drive versions of the Santa Fe in Australia like they do in other markets where the V6 is sold?

    • @conradscheepers
      @conradscheepers ปีที่แล้ว

      I had the 3.3 v6 2017 and just bought the 2023 3.5 v6 . Love the engine. Only as much torque in relation to your right foot. Use it properly and you will have no issue. Would not even know it is not AWD. From Melbourne to Adelaide and got 8.5 l/ 100 km per hour.

      Or skoda kodiaq, looking at the 3 of these vehicles

    • @CarExpertAus
      @CarExpertAus  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Tough call, @wolfsburg and @Robert O'Neill. The CX-9 and Kodiaq are both bigger vehicles. The issue I have with the CX-9 at the moment is that it's ever so slightly dated (same story with Santa Fe) - they are both due for facelifts, with the Santa Fe getting a pretty big one shortly. If it were my money, it'd be CX-9 for the size proposition (if you need the space), the Kodiaq for something a bit fancy and for all the clever tech and features they build into it, and the Santa Fe for the cheap to run alternative.

    What a shame it's only FWD. I used to own a 1992 model Santa Fe and even then the 3ltr V6 was punchy not to mention it was all wheel drive. What a shame Hyundai didn't follow on with this in their latest model.

  • @electricdiesel1993
    @electricdiesel1993 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Santa Fe V6 is not a 4wd suv it’s a gas guzzling V6 fwd suv got hurt by recent dear price of gasoline, then ride an electric hatch like Leaf hatch it’s only sixty thousand bucks with weak range and a waste of time recharge otherwise go take public transport done dirt cheap and safe will eventually end sport utility vehicle craze.

    About this car, I think they missed the mark with that V6 engine. A smaller 4 cylinder turbo would have a stronger midrange and better fuel economy.
