- Best potential for last. She was substituted to replace Viktoria Komova who was withdrawn by the Russian coaches.
Something I've always hoped to god would happen but I never believed it ever would given the circumstances.
Afan simply defines artistic gymnastics!
Wonderful end to the women's World Championships, the best, and most intense floor final ever, with a deep field, great performances, and for once, fair(ish) judging. I felt Yao was a little overscored early on but not that it mattered anyway.

agymnasticsfan....
I've watched this routine so many times over the years that the BBC commentators have become as integral a part of it as the music. "One of the most difficult spinnnns"
😂😂😂 I love this comment so much because SAME! “She’s verrryy cleannn” almost soundtracks her beat jump more than the music itself at this point.
Omgggg same
I can't handle the woman's voice at all 😂
I feel you. Those NBC commentators are so annoying 🙄. But BBC really makes every gymnast shine in their own way!!
I love "and very nicely through the spin with attitude" haha
It's the hands. They're everything
@QPHashSS77 In the comments of a Viktoria Komova FX video you said Afanasyeva was the only Russian gymnast with good rhythm and choreography. Inconsistent much? Make up your mind, Jesus
@QPHashSS77 Can you actually show me a pose she did twice in this video? And it wasn't only poses to begin with. This choreography had fluidity and constant movement.
Absolutely! 💗 💗
Omg yes! I love that is not a 100% choreographed... Each floor routine she does a different hand trick. LOVE YOU AFA
I call it handography. It's incredible.
The moment between her and her coach when the score comes in is what dreams are made of. I think she epitomizes the balance of power and artistry on FX.
The unforgettable routine
ugh MAGIC
@QPHashSS77 Were you a gymnastics fan in 2011? Probaby not, because you said you didn't KNOW. THat's different from remembering - sorry to burst your bubble.
this routine deserves gold. That is what artistry means
Hey world, take notice. THIS is how you do an artistic gymnastics floor routine. Great choreography, solid tumbling, and perfect in dance elements. Don't see this much anymore. No doubt in my mind she would have placed in London had she kept this routine.
***** Yes, I know that. Im saying had she kept this floor routine and performed it exactly like this, She would've placed in London. I know that she screwed up in London. Had she kept this routine, which is arguably the best floor routine she has ever performed and did the same exact choreography and landings and everything else, she would've had an individual Olympic medal.
Bd H Also how cool would that bit of Tango In The Night have sounded in London? If Afansayeva and Izbasa had both gone clean the medals would have looked completely different.
Emmy Johnson afan always has such cool music. I like her London 2012 music though. I think ponor was overscored in prelims but still would've somhow medaled even if afan and izbasa went clean.
joseph johnson I know she placed 6th in London, but I think it should've been 7th behind Wieber.
***** Wieber's Routine was shit in finals...
Talking about the music, I believe what makes Afanasieva such an exeptional performer on floor is her fine musicallity. She "knows" her music, feels it and the choreography, even the tumbling, blends into it. Love Komova's floor music medley in London - tribute to A.Winehouse' and F.Mercury genius and the British culture - simply classy!
I have to say this routine is absolutely GORGEOUS. The music , the moves, the tumbles , she's got such a strong presence that is admirable. A true Olympian
icionic routine, one of the best of the decade.
Definitely the best there. Sui Lu was good, but Afansyeva was better overall with superior artistry and greater tumbling variety. Her routine is more interesting.
I agree ,afansyeva is as graceful as Nastia liukin ,simply stunning .The 2 most artistic gymnasts ever in my opinion. Afan is so underrated though :(
I can't imagine anyone perform like this She had the elegance, the difdiculty, the choreography... Amazing!!
You can tell that it was a shock - that little hitch in the commentator's voice - "Uhhh ...... WELL IT WAS A CASE OF SAVING THE BEST OF LASTTTTTT"
"But none of us believed it was THAT impressive."
Christine Still: ""Stammers -- It really IS a just result, she took.... She landed everything so well, all the spins.."
"The performance was great -- Stammers ---- I was just surprised the judges went with it!"
--- Oh The Brits -- I love your matter of fact statements in everything you do..
Note: Super Happy for Afan here. Totally impressed with the entire podium and placement.
One of my favourite floor routines
her entire legacy all in one routine
The last ARTÍSTIC world Champion floor routine.
@Pako Paez PREECH! The word “artistic” has been gone from artistic gymnastics since 2013.
@@mustyfan1584 Do you know what artistic means? It means creative. There has been artistry since 2013.
@@bluepanther1013 Whatever you need to tell your self buddy. Whatever you need to tell yourself.
@Bluepanther 101 Obviously there has been creative choreography since 2013. My avatar is Eythora Thorsdottir for God’s sake. I just mean to say that the sport as a whole has lost most of its artistry that made it great. Creative performances used to be a staple of WAG, and now they’re a rare exception.
@QPHashSS77 If you had a shred of intelligence you would be able to recognise that the fact you can't respond with any actual ARGUMENT but only with juvenile and pathetic insults only really serves to show your viewpoint is worth re-evaluating.
Holy smokes I've been watching her 2012 routine over and over again and have not watch this routine for awhile and WOW this is my favourite routine from her. She had obvious landing faults but she moves so smooth and sensual. Just beautiful.
A very worthy world champion. She is really the queen of floor, and still is after YEARS later. She really knew how to combine powerful tumbling with artistry. Something no one does anymore. молодец ксения!
This isn't just gymnastics, this is art!
The result was absolutely fair! This routine is the real 'artistic' gymnastics... most beautiful choreography + difficult tumbles = GOLD!!! Congratulations Afanasyeva!
I just love how the Russian can perform the music. I haven't seen any other gymnast from any other nation perform as they do. They had Khorkina, there's certainly no one better than her, not even Biles, Mustafina, Komova, Zamo, and Afanasyeva who was magnificent here.
Erick Soto sorry but komova was perfect in AA final on floor. she deserved a high score like 15.266 at least and Douglas was overed score she routine deserve like 14.9
Beg your pardon but Mustafina 's 2010 AA floor routine was gorgeous.
Well deserved, such a beautiful routine. She also seem so nice and humble when getting congratulations from other athletes and coaches !!!
Kseniia. A true performer and artist (as well as a good tumbler). This is what a true artistic gymnast should be. Sui lu too giving a perfomance. Ahh the days when you could watch world's and not worrying about not receiving a perfomace.
back for a palette cleanser after seeing the current floor routines
Gorgeous routine she really deserves gold
Elegant and interesting winner, lovely.
This girl is a tall gymnast, which makes all skills much more difficult.
Ever since Beijing I became an Afanasyeva fan and she was the reason why I now watch WAG. I have always supported her no matter what. Well deserved win. She has finally been recognized for her beauty.
2015 and still wow 👏
edgar fuentes 2016 and still WOW
2017 and still wow.
Mauricio M 2018 and still wow
And in 2019 it will still be a WOW
2458 and still wow 👏
BEAUTIFUL!!!! I love how she actually puts effort into her choreography!! Gorgeous
I can't think of a better word to describe Afan other than regal. She's incredible!
i am so excited for this to get 100,000+ views! so deserved too...
My favorite floor routine of all time, not to slow, yet extremely graceful and wonderful tumbler.
This is one of my all time favorite routines. Absolutely beautiful. Great tumbling, beautiful spins, great leaps, perfect combination of grace and power. I have no idea why people think that Raisman was robbed. Her routine, though difficult, was severely lacking in artistry. It was not visually appealing and all of her routines show how hard she works for each skill. Its basically tumbling, running around, a leap, some hopping, more tumbling. This is artistic gymnastics not power tumbling.
This is my favourite routine of all time. Much much preferable than Simone Biles!
No doubt! Simone looks so aggressive, she can be much more powerful , but she'll never has this beautiful classic Russian style!
Breno Sterphan lol not like she needs it. Her hard work ethic still outclasses any female gymnast
@@arathgomez615 She does not need it because the CoP is so poor nowadays. But Simone would have to reborn 5 times to posses this beautiful and polished artistry.
Mauricio M just lake Afanasyaeva would have to be reborn five times to have Simone’s power and tumbling skills. Gymnastics is two parts! Artistry and power
@@FantasyPNTM Exactly, and Simone is not balanced, she's the greatest TUMBLER ever existed. Artistic gymnast? That's another story.
love her reaction at 3:30...shock then happiness. and well deserved
Best floor routine in history 2011 floor champion was way better than 2018 floor champion by performance
Inolvidable esta rutina, ella impecable en la coreografía ❤❤❤
It was a shame what happened to her in the team finals yesterday. But her choreography is the best of the competition and I hope she gets the gold on floor! Go Ksenia, Congratulations on your team silver Olympic medal!
oh my god. this is stunning
love the final piece on her toes-- nice touch!
such an amazing choreography! her hands... so hypnotizing
OMG I've got it! Her looks, the way she carries herself... She reminds me of Cersei Lannister. Gods, that's bothered me for years.
Hahaha that made me think for a sec..
Lebronze Blackrose 😆 Apt comparison! She definitely has that dangerous, sexy vibe.
Definitely my favorite on the floor
Yes that is Lauren and I agree. She is always one of the first to extend a sincere hug and smile. I wish NBC would have shown her floor routine at the Olympics this year. Kseniia was incredible and deserved the gold medal.
Beautiful
Eugene J Pretty too much
she does the best turns I've ever seen floor :) Beautiful routine!
i can't stop watching this video... it really amaze me every time i watch this vid...
She should’ve done this routine in the Olympics. It had by far superior choreography
Both were superb.
That girl is a star. She always has been just super inconsistent. It was meant to be.
Veronica Young she wasn't super inconsistent. She was a bit 'unlucky' in London, but she was pretty consistent the whole her career
Still laughing in 2020.... at the look on her face when she see's the score.....it still didn't register immediately.....it was like she looked at her coach "are they sure?" "is that real?". Absolutely PRECIOUS!!!....I'd kill to see a picture of her face when she faced her coach.....not the back of her head.
Good choise from russian coaches. I really love Vika, but the last floor routine in last final, she would never end her serie without any big mistake.
and she was too tired
@@MrVitor1563 Yeah I mean, she was only a 1st year senior
Youth olympics were a joke compared to worlds
definitely top 5 favorite floor routines of all time. I never get tired of watching this
I like mustafina hijo de ka luna routine
This was far from one of the top 5 all time routines. Gymnastics history is deep. So many fantastic routines with equal tumbling and way more complex choreography. And stuck landings
@@brettonoverton6902 maybe it's because my great aunt wrote her the music...gymnastics is subjective sport
THANK YOU! WONDERFUL WORK! BLESSINGS TO YOU!
gorgeous set! One of my favorite sets of hers.
Ah, my bad. And yes, I am also sure the judges would take those .2 off for the leg separation and bent knees. She has come a long way with blocking though. Mustafina doesn't flex her feet when she twists. She actually points them if you look at stills. She's knock kneed. She crosses her ankles though which is definitely .1.
What I meant to say was the legs do not take away from Mustafina's technique on her blocking because she's mostly fixed that and it's only a small .1 deduction in the leg area. Nothing that takes away from giving her amplitude or anything. I thought that was understood seeing as how it's not hard to comprehend....
Ella es maraviliosa, la reina del suelo👍👍😉😉
Beautiful routine. I wish everyone would stop belittling Raisman here though: I dislike her style of gymnastics as much as the next person, but she showed fantastic sportsmanship here. Did everyone see the big hug she gave Afanasyeva? Genuine delight in their mutual trip to the podium.
I agree..I love her variety she had some different things going on that other didn't it wasn't predictable the judges sent a message in this to the Chinese...its nice what you do but we have seen it 100,000 times. I love the artistry of both top gymnast but Afan had all the elements
Agreed. Grishina, Sidorova, Inshina and probably even Mustafina, Komova, and Dementyeva are bound to stay around for the next quadrenium and then next quad we will eventually have Kharenkova, Bondareva, Kuzmina, Tipaeva, Baturina, and Shelgunova.
Youre right, because the Russian alphabet is so different from the US alphabet, it sometimes can be hard to translate the exact spellings of names. The closest translation spelling wise is Viktoria. Same thing happened with Khorkina, it seemed like her name was spelled differently every competition.
Agreed. There is more to artistry than simply looking like a ballerina (though that is my favorite type). Wieber does have choreo that suits her music, appropriate dance moves etc.
may not be the most difficult but the elegance is unquestionable.
I don't know if that's why the judges were trying to do but I agree. As much as I love the chinese they could use some originality to their beautiful but very similar to each other routines. Sui is beautiful on floor but Ksenia's routine in my opinion is more interesting and elegant. No doubt they both did a great job
Can't stop watching this routine.
Watching an interview with her that was translated she didn't even think she would win, she thought maybe 2nd or 3rd place after she finished, she would be happy. She was really shocked. Great job. I hope Russia brings it as they did in Sydney during the event finals, in London they won everything except beam. Hope they do it again!
Hehehe, actually those 10,000 views may have been me on my own... LOVE THIS ROUTINE!!!!
How can you not love seeing Afan finally win this well deserved gold medal?
you are completely right! I agree 100%
she touched perfection...
Not sure about perfection, but it was pretty damn impressive
She is fantastic and beautiful! Was a shame about her today at the olympics! Very bright future ahead!
@96horseluvr it was a british broadcasting so it would talk about british gymnasts as would usa, china or anyone else would about theirs
She will be in the floor finals. If you go to youtube channel amc81, her floor video from qualifications has been uploaded.
@ateaara I think both of her spins were devalued in TF but also her landings were a lot better here, except for the third pass because she connected it to the jump in TF
AGREED! I am so glad she didnt make the olympic team. Whenever people gave Musty crap for her twisting form...UM have you ever seen Nabieva?
I could never watch this too many times!!
I can't stop watching this. The double attitude spin rocks.
@bernardmvella I think what they mean is that for Sui it was all twisting passes and then the double pike to fulfill the requirement, and then bringing up examples like Belo and PPP who do the same, while Afan has two double somersaults and two twisting passes, with both of their dance being equally good despite the different styles.
As for Raisman, her tumbles were great but her dance and leaps were "wtf"
When I posted this comment I had only seen comments saying how Raisman was robbed, how Ksenia was overscored etc. If the problem is what you're saying it's different. the truth is that since 2 gymnasts have been injured she'd have competed anyway since she was the 2nd reserve. IMO it was a smart choice to replace Komova with Ksenia after the hard time Vika had on beam but Ksenia would have competed anyway (maybe she wouldn't be that prepared though)
It's a mix of music but the main music is called infiltrado by bajofondo :)
She's still in training, at the University Games in Kazan in a week and a half she will debut a new floor routine. She'll be coming off a gold medal win on floor from the European Championships :D.
It took a while, but up until a few days ago, Yao Jinnan's FX video has been the most popular video from this final, at one point having more than 10,000 views than this one. This video is now the most popular of all the women's event finals videos that I uploaded :P.
If you are an all-around gymnast, whose best apparatus is floor,
you're gonna have a bad time.
Köszönöm, hogy láthattam!!
Continued: Again, you misinterpreted what I said even though what I said was pretty clear. The bend in Komova's arms do not warrant a deduction. Not severe enough. The slight shoulder angle and the lack of alignment in the arms do, however. And the Russians use a different blocking technique in which they almost "whip" by arching their backs.
In case no one has noticed the Sui Lu vid got taken down by the Japanese TV Network and I got a strike for it when there isn't any of their broadcasting content on it...I sent a counternotification within hours of it being removed but I'm still waiting a response...
Komova's ankle is pretty good now. She's said it was great but later explained it wasn't but I think with the recent surgery she's fine. And Nabieva's Amanar/DTY (besides the form and the block, also occasional under-rotation on the Amanar) was/is not terrible.
@ChainChomp2 Yes as of right now. Russia is actually struggling on vault. No team can afford specialists. Afanasyeva maybe considered a specialists but she has and still is an all-arounder. I mean she did AA at this competition and in Mexico. Russia must find a way to get to gold position in London, if they don't they will take only 2nd or 3rd place.
I'm very aware of what happened in 2010 :) I know a lot about team Russia.
My 2nd favorite routine. 1st is Aliyah's 2010 Worlds and 3rd is Sandra's 2008 Olympic routine.
@ChainChomp2 The third pass here was connected to the changement/beet jump.
Really nice posture, extension, and line in this routine. Well done.
This quad yes. In 08 I dont really consider Nastia "american" just because she was miles higher than the rest on artistry. That was the exception. However, the new COP which was just released has a .3 deduction for lack or artistry vs the .1 deduction that we have seen these past few years. Girls like Finnegan, vega, ross, will definitely benefit from that because they have great artistry.
Beautiful. Re-posted in my livejournal blog.
@ChainChomp2 Hey, don't stereotype. I'm American, and I love the Russian style of gymnastics. Some Americans get pissed when you lump us all together.
And I would also point out that at the Olympics, the USA also had higher total team scores than Romania on BOTH beam and floor.
Hopefully her and her upgraded difficulty will medal at Worlds. So excited!
Every time I watch this routine (and I wath it at least once a week) I wonder why there was so much controversy about her gold medal. I mean this is the perfect floor routine: difficult and clean tumbling, variety of skills, hard and well excecuted dance skills along with amazing choreography and artistry. That's exacly how the gold floor routine should look.
The part where they edited out Lauren was so blatant too, they had their shot on Cata with Vanessa walking around in her warmup in the background and then suddenly the next shot was Vanessa in her beginning pose ready to begin her performance!!
It seems constructed the same way but the actual choreography is different, such as the dramatic music around her first double spin, then a long choreography series going to her third pass and a long one after that which includes the second spin. In her new routine the part after her third pass looks almost recycled from her 2009 routine though. As for music...both are wonderful; I tried recreating her 2012 one but only missing the very end part, just so slightly prefer her 2012 over 2011.
@abctooeasy I said they were rumors. Not that I believed them. Nabieva's Podkopayeva is pretty perfect and Paseka's DTY had potential.
