Sam, the racing seats are actually more comfortable than the standard seats. The standard seats are rubbish, get a car with bucket seats, they're almost identical to the CS seats. I used to own a manual 360 Spider, Rosso Corsa with tan leather interior. Great car, sounds good with a Tubi exhaust too. Doesnt come close to my 360CS but the 360 is a great first Ferrari!

The 360 is ageing quite well. I would still rather have a 355 though!
John Smythe The 355 is my favorite Ferrari of all time and you can find them similarly if not better priced than the 360s. But running costs are insane and the engine out service means you'd be shelling out 10k every other year or even more frequently.

Sam honest question: In you're goodbye to the Mclaren video you stated, that it wasn't only for financial reasons, but also for the reason that you couldn't drive the car as much as you liked. What has changed, that it would be different with the Ferrari?
betaich he won't be dealing with as much depreciation with the 360. Sam was spending a lot just to own the 540C which wasn't worth it in the end if he wasn't going to be driving it everyday, which would have also led to a lot of depreciation. With the 360, he wouldn't have to drive it everyday to feel he got his money's worth, and even if he did, it wouldn't depreciate nearly as much has a brand new McLaren.
Firstly the Ferrari is half the price of the 540C. There is also a chance given the current market it might hold its money better. Also, in my head at least, if I don't drive the 360 for 2 months, I think I will be prepared to pay the (lower) monthly payment figure because it will be my first Ferrari .. a dream I've always had

Not usually a fan of spiders but the 360 looks better as one in my opinion especially with the race seats. But to be fair I prefer the 355 and 430 to the 360.

Sam, I'm really happy you've gotten to the point in your life where it is both financially and practically feasible to own your dream car. My earliest memory- not just a car memory was me watching Michael Schumacher blast around Sepang circuit in Kuala Lumpur in the Ferrari F2002. I loved all the other F1 cars, but there was something about that red, just loaded with passion and energy and I was instantly a Ferrari fan. I'm still working hard in school in the hope that one day I'll be able to realize my dream and own one of these beautiful machines in good health. Take care.

Sells a brand new 540C, a car that can be a daily driver more than most others. Goes on to say he will go from 2 cars to one sports daily ( the SVR). Then proceeds to say he will buy a 360 in a manual and another daily with it... Apart from this being the biggest fucking downgrade possible, how do you reason to buy a 360, when you even said an F430 was too old? Its stupid to buy a ferrari just because its a ferrari. McLaren is easily as good a brand today... But I guess you have a bit of a mess in your decisions lately...

Matej Smidbersky agree, unless he gets a 360 special edition of some kind then it's a down grade, my dad's mate had one and it's was so underwhelming, this was around 2011 so it's even more outdated nowadays
Maintenance costs and depreciation on a 540c had to of been killer. McLarens are very expensive to maintain. This is a smarter buy for both of those reasons, but I don't like the idea of a rip off Challenge Stradale.
It's not all about speed, it's about the brand, Ferraris have quite the history, and more people are interested in them.
It's not just about 'the best car for the money' you can buy which these days is a mclaren sports series - it comes down to personal preference and emotional attachment which Sam clearly has with Ferraris

Get the red 360, tan interior, do a ECU remap, get a set of black BBS wheels, Tubi Exhaust, wrap it with a darker red, get the rear grille and be happy

I went from Porsche 997 GT3 RS to much older Ferrari 360 Modena and boy am I a happy now. It brings so much more excitement and pure joy than much newer and faster Porsche ever gave me. It simply ticks every single box what I ever wanted from a dream car of mine. Yes, the childhood dream of owning a Ferrari was with me since I got my 1st "summer job" at the age of 15. And finally, after 21 summers has passed, I have one :-)
I cannot recommend one enough! Its a real bargain of a somewhat modern Ferrari with a reliability never seen before (in Ferrari standards).
The maintenance is not that expensive while keep in mind its a Ferrari. You need to find a reputable indy shop. "Major service" every 20 000km or 2 to 3 years costs tad over 1k in euros. Annual "small service" (oil change + general heath check) is like 300 euros. The cam belts job (needs to be done every 3 to 5 years) costs around 1500 euros. The big one is a clutch, that costs around 5k in euros. Many spare parts can be found from Alfa Romeo, Maserati or even Fiat, this needs small amount of "self imposing". And there's this really nice world wide Ferrari owners community called ferrarichat.com.
But if one really wants to spend $$$$ on a official dealer then every single service will have the infamous "Ferrari tax".
I drove my 360 a bit over 4000 miles during this summer season and over that time got average consumption of almost 20mpg (UK gallons)! Tho I don't do almost any real rush hour "city center driving" (like London must be), I rather enjoy my F-car on B roads middle of nowhere at early summer mornings.

This is why I love your channel. You always get the best cars for the funniest reasons lol. Literally has a video talking about getting a smarter choice car and will end up with a much stupider car and potentially upgrading the daily car to something (hopefully) even stupider too lol. However, please buy that exact yellow 360 at the end of this trip. It will match the Abarth in colour (literally since both Ferrari yellow), and I can not think of a better way to buy a Ferrari than actually in Italy. That would be the cherry on top of the Ferrari dream.
Living in LA for all those weeks seems pretty easy now after this. Sure it will be a good 3 weeks for you and us the viewers dispite the rocky start
Think I would go red and tan or crema with the race seats for your first fez. Just looking at 360's and 430's with manuals ourselves as investment pieces. 430's may be a bit too expensive still for a first dabble haha! Good luck dude, either way enjoy it. Oh one plus for the spider... for some reason they sound nicer annnnd when you've got the roof down, you get to hear that amazing engine note. Was at a track day at Donington the other day and the 360's (especially with an exhaust) sounded like F1 cars man. Best sounding there!
I actually had i photoshoot with a Ferrari 360 Spider today. Although i didn't drive it (i was at the passenger seat), the car feels really exotic like a proper super car! It was fitted with Tubi Loud exhaust and the sound was just insane! It's funny that here in Finland the most common Ferrari you'll see on the road is a 360 while in Monaco, Dubai, Marbella etc you barely see any. But yeah go for it and replace your Biposto with Romeo Ferraris Abarth ;)
GET IT ! I fucking love it, yes the maintenance was and still is a problem, but with a reliable mechanic who knows where to get his parts and you have time, its soooo worth it! Id love to own the same car as you!!! If you have questions, ask me anything, i have mine since 4months
