    Rusty did such a good job of explaining this. Great game, immediately went to play over at BGA.

    I want to thank-you for this series. My board game collection began as games bought to play with nieces and nephews when they came into town...mostly "retail" games. As the kids grew older, I went in search of more substantial games and came upon this channel. I had no idea the world of board games was so vast...CLUELESS. I have now watched every episode and purchased 33 of the games you showcased. Thanks for opening my eyes to this great addiction, showing me games I know I will like as well as games which might not be my style, and doing it in a manner that makes it feel as if I were sitting at the table with you.

    It's like a spiritual successor to some "craazy" 80s roll and move from MB Games! Crossed with Sorry! But made very much for 2018, very light but clearly fun for families.

    Just now watching this video and learning about the game and it’s expansions (1/27/21) and at 28:04 Rusty rolls a die and hits a sarcophagus and Dave says, “the mummy’s curse”, without checking the end of the video, when this video came out, when the Mummy’s Curse expansion came out, it seems like Dave spoke the expansion into existence lol! Perhaps I’ll see at the end etc the ex was already out but fun to think about.

    • @WhatUpRob
      @WhatUpRob 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Update, at the end of the video Rusty says there are expansions but doesn’t specifically say the Mummy’s Curse and nobody else says it so maybe it was announced but not named, idk Dave still gets credit in my book.

      This was filmed well before the announcement of the expansion so I would say you are correct!-Lincoln

    Not sure if it is happening for anyone else but at around 1:08:38 it starts to hang and will not finish playing. I did try another video and come back, but the same thing occurred. PS... I love your Game Night videos!

    It's ironic that Mark is the only dad on the show, but he is also the only one who refrains from dad jokes.

    I think yellow didn't count one of his scarabs. At the end one of them is still face down.

  • @wondertoy16
    @wondertoy16 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did Dave forget to score a scarab at the end? It looked like he had another one in front of him.

    • @wondertoy16
      @wondertoy16 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      BoardGameGeekTV I don’t think so - at 1h 3min and the scoring of scarabs, Dave distinctly looks at only one of his tiles and then says “two for me” after speaking of 3 for blue (i.e. Nikki).

    • @adameves5970
      @adameves5970 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      He only flips over one of his. The one worth 2 points. The other remained face down and unscored.

  • @JB-ym4up
    @JB-ym4up 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I thought each tile set could only use 1 wild tile. Only affects lincolns score if so.

    • @gejyspa
      @gejyspa 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rusty said in the instructions that you could use up to two per set.

    • @KissellMissile
      @KissellMissile 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is correct. I think I got this wrong the first time I played it as well (only allowing one per set).

  • @gejyspa

    So this game has the same mechanic that drives people learning Bohnanza crazy -- Don't rearrange your cards! It's such a hard habit for card gamers to break.

    Blue dragons don't sound very Egyptian to me. It should have been blue crocodiles.

    17 minutes is quite a long rules explanation for an SdJ nominee. This looks fun, but for non-gamer families, it won’t have mass appeal.

      I can teach the game and get people playing in around 5 minutes.

    as Nikki said, "chutes and Ladders"- This game is devoid of gameplay. Listening to everyone, especially Dave and Lincoln constantly repeat words and stupid puns is all the evidence I need that this game is terrible, not to mention painful to listen to.

    • @gejyspa
      @gejyspa 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      If that''s all the evidence you need that a game is terrible, then don't play ANY game that is played through on "GameNight!". They constantly repeat words and make "stupid" puns on every episode. It's their thing. And for that matter, it's MY thing. That's why I love watching these. The interactions among a group of friends is why I've been an inveterate boardgamer for 50 years.
      As for the gameplay, the planning needed engendered by the getting around the preprogramming of the cards so that you always have a correct option available to you, and the foresight to see how things might change on the board as a result of your opponents' play offers quite a bit of gameplay. Sorry if you don't like it.

      Then don't watch..

    • @KissellMissile
      @KissellMissile 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is much more to the game when you play than might appear from watching or reading the rules.

    • @adameves5970
      @adameves5970 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Without being to watch any players' hand of card negates you the ability to see how each player had to craft their strategy of what card to use to unlock the use of other cards. Had you seen even ONE hand of cards, you would be able to understand the strategy much more. You don't just play a card to play a card. You play a card in efforts to create a string of useful moves brought forth by cycling your options in a thought out order. It might be over your head.
