- Two years ago I was given a FREE CR-10 Mini that was missing the hot end. It sat in the background of many of my videos for a year until I finally made a plan to upgrade and modernize it to print better than it could new!

I opening is zoomed in on the background, so disregard me...no, there isn't audio out of synch...I'm just talking over that old video in the intro!
Been printing for many years and still love my mini, i pump out large prints at 120 to 145mm's and turns out find, using all metal hot end of course, track rollers sound like there going to fly off sometimes BUT it works!
It was a fun rebuild. Man I did a lot of reading about them and everyone hated the warpy bed!
I used the magnetic bed sheet, best thing ever!!!
@arksurvivalevolvedforever8985 yes. As you saw in my video, I water jet the spring steel to fit!
Hey there! I've got the same second lead screw "antenna" thing going on for my mini as well haha. Was waiting to see if you'd upgrade to 24V. I had considered doing that after I lost the original PS to a shoddy job directly soldering the leads to the bed. I got my PEI sheets from TH3D just before they discontinued the mini's size. I'd really like to do an all-in-one conversion because I'm running out of space in my house, so if you do one as well and film it I'd like to see which designs you use!
Greetings there, I have my CR-10 mini, completely stock, and been printing for some years now.
So I bumbed on your video and I cant keep wandering, is it worth the 300ish dollar upgrade?
I'd love to upgrade mine but I can get a new Ender-3 V3 KE with that money.
Oh and another question, could just the upgrade to klipper suffice?
If it isn’t broken, don’t mess with it! Get some a new one! 🙂
I audio is out of sync on my laptop and desktop so I am assuming its the uploaded video.
Which printer did you buy to get a free CR10mini thrown in?
The first part of the video is my doing a voice over. I bought a 3D printer from someone on Facebook Marketplace a while back and they asked me to take the CR-10 Mini for free!
Just the video I was looking for! I have a CR-10 Mini I was gifted for christmas a very long time ago and have been running it ever since. It's a great printer and I've had a lot of fun modding the crap out of it. I just can't do a lot of the cool things I see online because of the 8-bit board (V1.1.2). Could the Bigtreetech SKR mini E3 and the TFT35 screen be a drop in replacement for the printer without replacing the power supply, hotend or motors? I understand I have to flash the Marlin firmware, which is fine, but I would love to do this upgrade on my machine. Since it's my only printer though I'm scared I might do some damage to it. Any recommendations would be very much appreciated.
The board could be done with just the board. I went all out, replacing as much old / iffy stuff as possible. If scared, seek a mentor to assist!
@@WhereNerdyisCool I would love to seek out someone to assist me with this type of stuff. Unfortunately I live in a very rural area where this type of stuff isn't really the norm so youtube and the internet in general is really a good guide for me. I'm trying to compile my firmware now for this setup (SKR Mini V3.0 with the TFT35 E3 V3.0.1) and can't seem to get VS Code to compile with the touch screen. The stock firmware works with the touchscreen but since the mini has a different print area than an Ender 3 I have to rework the code for it to work fully. Have you gotten the touchscreen to work after flashing your marlin firmware?
@Abandoned_Player I didn’t touch the firmware on the TFT. I left it alone. Firmware isn’t my strength so I hired some help - on Fiver Check out my recent video upgrading the Newereal 3D printer. There’s a link in the description to the gent I used from Fiver to get the firmware side working!
@@WhereNerdyisCool So after fiddling around in Visual Studio Code A LOT I made a guide on how to make the firmware for the CR-10 Mini with the SKR Mini V3 and the TFT35 E3. It's everything I did to get it working. Just about the same setup as your printer but I didn't do anything else besides the motherboard, screen and a BLTouch. It's very long but pretty informative. It's based off of Marlin 2.1.2.2 and I've got lots of reference videos and github pages so you can follow the journey I did. Plus it also includes the configuration files I used incase you want to change something in the future at the bottom. I.E. filament detection, dual Z motors, etc. If you want you can include it in your description if you'd like and I hope it helps anyone else that stumbles across this video.

I've tried to post this three times now. I dont know if its youtube deleting my comment or what but if its not allowed let me know :(
How did you get the SKR bolt holes to line up? I have the cr-10 V3 and I'm trying to do the conversion
Mine was a drop in replacement. No adaptor needed.
@WhereNerdyisCool I found an adapter I printed since the board is half the size. Just got to figure out the bl touch wiring now. May need to just run the bltouch wires all the way to the board.. not sure yet
I buy the extra long BL Touch cables from Filastruder
should have done a video on doing the firmware for the board and screen.
I trimmed that out since I was t sure most would want to see that.
@@WhereNerdyisCool bro ill be honest i did the same upgrades minus the hot end and i don't know what firmware to use. what did you use and if you can post the link to the exact firmware and configuration( bugfix 2.0 or 2.1 or import 2.0 or 2.1 version) that'd be a huge help
what firmware did you use I have same board and cant find the firmware
Let me check with Keith (link in description to his Github). He might have a public link to that.
@@WhereNerdyisCool , thanks for posting this. doing an upgrade of my own but don't see the github in the description.
@eden_yau check the examples file from Marlin
