Pretty sure you got this totally wrong, as you have over levelled skills and had more than 3 on the 1st level you have effectively wasted skills to learn on future level ups. So now you are going to have to spend an absolute age in prison to reduce your skills down to allow you to use those in the future.

+5/+5/+1 is better late game. Every 5 points in luck is 2 point bonuses to every skill. I roll breton/ the their(for ,+10 luck), and choose luck and endurance in custom class. +1 always in luck every level up. Always use alchemy in minor since poisons and shield potions will carry you so far early game.

In that case, wouldn’t it be better to have your majors be skills that make leveling easy but also be skills that you won’t really be using? Then just utilizing your minor skills for gaining points? As I side benefit of this, your main build skills would all be minor skills so you’d never have to break your gameplay just to grind

  • @richarddkearney

After playing through Oblivion the first time I decided on my second playthrough it would be fun to pick Major skills that I never use so I would tend not to level. Then I played the game attempting to never use my major skills. I have no idea why people say the game is hard as I can play the entire game and stay a low level. Actually I didn't even know some people thought the game was hard until recently. Did people 14 years ago think it was hard or have games have gotten so similar that people no longer know how to play something different?

    • @scottymonochrome3795

The gratification that you get from Oblivion is not like the immediate gratification one gets in Skyrim. In Skyrim, you can pop skill points into skill trees immediately, and see how that selection advances you. In Oblivion, you have to level up some skills to level up your character, which you have to sleep to do, so that you can get a bonus to stats and base amounts, and do it all over again. Oblivion is just a slower pace game. Not a bad thing, like you said, just different.

      He did it semi wrong.
Pick the race that suits you best, then pick the birthsign that suits you best (most of the time thats the warior, the thief, the mage, the apprentice or the atronach).
Allways make a class, the specialization should be opposite of what skills you want to use (for example Irish is a warrior mage so he should have picked the thief specialization).
the major skills should be skills that you don't use or don't use often and that are easy to level.

    • @shamikghosh1737
      @shamikghosh1737 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Mirko_Doggen take 1 major skill for each stat, for e.g. blade, block, sneak, acrobatics, destruction, mysticism, illusion. Try to take skills that you can level up quickly, max out endurance first. You'd also have a waste skill for each stat, like if you use h2h and major blade for str you can use blunt weapons while levelling, you can also level combat skills like blade, blunt, h2h, marksman easily if you get the staff of everscamp from leyawin after the sewers. Level up first to the point where you have maxed str, end, int, agi atleast i usually level everything except for luck to 100 and then start playing, thats about lvl 45 besides you get all the cool stuff at high levels anyways. Use the uesp oblivion character planner to plan your character out. Warrior birthsign only gives 18 hitpoints extra at 688 at max lvl 51 compared to my apprentice high elf 670 hp also at lvl 51, 100 magicka is a lot more valuable in my opinion, explore 100% spell reflect and 100% reflect dmg options. Get into spell making early on. GL!!

just pick 7 major skills youll never level up and the rest of the game will be filled with low level easy enemies with tiny level restricted health pools.

All this time I've been levelling efficiently without raising the difficulty, and wondering why I was bothering keeping track of my skills when the game wasn't that hard. Now I think I'm going to stop caring about level bonuses and just turn down the difficulty once enemies start out-levelling me. I love Oblivion to death, but its level system makes me miss the old-school system in Morrowind. Skyrim's is just all right. I can't forgive the lack of Acrobatics.

Luck is Only good in the EARLY game. Points should only be placed into luck if you absolutly have no other attributes that can be raised (excluding Personality cause its basically a QOL attribute to avoid the mini game) and cannot revert back to a save before the level to grind minor skills till a +5+5+5 bonus is available. 100 luck grants around +16 to all skills exept athletics and acrobatics are the only skills that benefit after 100 so in the LATE game when your skills are likely @ 100 (or should be) there isn't much benefit. I could add alot more reason why it's only good early on and not worth putting points into but I will stop here. (OK one more it can easily be buffed using spells by mid-late game)

Dude, anytime I ever talked about how I play, which is similar to yours, they say I play wrong. It’s not my fault that sneaking in, getting a couple shots off with a bow. Then charging in with a sword, axe, while conjuring and shooting fireballs is the most fun way to play. Skyrim doesn’t let you dabble in everything without being weak later on.
I’ve loved this game since I was a kid, and I’ve always picked Breton because my older cousin who taught me morrowind said ‘the way you want to play would be better with a Breton’ and I like it. I do play with other races, but my main playthoughs are as Breton.
Also the bruma house is good for bones. Unlike in Skyrim where you can only pick up skulls oblivion let’s you pick up each individual bone. Which makes great decorations

There is no need for mods or notebooks.
    1) Start with a race+birthsign combo that gives 65 endurance for fighter, bow user, or hybrid. Start with 55 endurance for a magic user. There is no need for strict efficiency after that.
    2) Put your specialty fighting skill into majors plus one or two skills that help it but you can hold off on using until you master that fighting skill.
    3) Put Armorer, Heavy Armor, Athletics, Light Armor and any extra melee skills into minor skills.
    4) Buy 5 trainer lessons each level (when you can afford them) in Armorer (or Heavy Armor) until Endurance is maxed.
    5) Repair everything as often as possible for Armorer points. Hammers are free in City crates and barrels. Armorer 75 boosts your weapon one rank in power so elven does glass damage etc.
That is it. Leveling increases enemy power. Higher fighting skill kills higher enemies. This build strategy let's your fighting skill points control leveling in such a way that you always gain power on the enemy. Specialty major skills build 2x faster than normal so you do as little fighting as possible for the points.
Also, no glitches needed for Max difficulty. Just go with male Breton +Warrior sign+ Mage class. Take Destruction to 50 from tutorial to Skingrad zombies doing mages guild a.s.a.p,. and then focus 100% on Conjuration and Alchemy/poison. Conjuration (zombies, clannfear, and dremora lord) +bandits and marauders gives you gear to repair for Armorer skill. Enchant bows with command and poison stacking ability. Hack/punch away with melee as the enemy is fighting your summons if you want strength points.

Protip; don't level up in Oblivion... I'm aware of efficient leveling, it doesn't matter. You hit higher levels and enemies will start staggering you every time you get hit, even if you block. This is why melee and block is horrible in Oblivion late game. Don't get hit... Or, just don't level up. Use fortify enchantments or spells instead.

one of bethesda's dumbest decisions was getting rid of the primary attributes. why they didn't make them level like the skills do(like how they work in kingdom come) i'll never understand. that's all they had to do. they could have added perk trees to each of them. i hate the whole only getting a max of 10 to either health, stamina or magica on level up.

No, Oblivion's leveling system is objectively bad, and efficient leveling is huge evidence of that.
It literally punishes you for playing organically. Your major skills are essentially traps. You do better making you major skills things you won't use, or just never leveling up.
It's a horrendous system that turns people off the game as everything out scales the player who doesn't want to spreadsheet their skill ups.
