Fun Fact, the pose Deku does is a mimicry of Bakugo, because when Deku gets serious he "acts like Bakugo". That's why his hands are open like that, because Bakugo does that to make his explosions more effective.

Love that Mirio also has damage/scars on his arms, feels like a very detailed parallel with how hard him and Deku have to work.
mirio being scarred all over also shows that his power isn't a pure benefit.
mirio had to _work_ to get his abilities to function the way he wants 100% of the time. the fact that "guy who passes through attacks" is covered in scars proves that he wasn't always as skilled as he is now, and he likely injured himself a lot when training.
and yet, he's number 1 at UA. you can coast pretty far on raw talent, todoroki and bakugo prove that, but not to number 1. if you wanna hit number 1, you've gotta work on yourself.
Mirio is an incredible example of a character making their decent but not great quirk immensely powerful because of hard work and understanding of their quirk and how it works. Comparing Todoroki's raw power to Mirio's quirk at their most basic is already very telling as to how much better some quirks are than others in their basic forms, and considering how much more drawbacks Mirio gets when using it. It's even dangerous using his quirk without skill. Mirio's hard work on his decent quirk got him to a top spot in one of the best schools for heroes there is.
Yeah but imagine taking an op Quirk like Todoroki or Bakugo and applying the training and smarts of Mirio, both Todoroki and Bakugo are already pretty smart but with Mirio's foresight and training those with Raw power could be amazing.

Fun fact: the girl with the skimpy outfit at the end of the end, she is actually a character that the creator didn't create. There was a contest years ago to have your very own MHA custom character feature in the manga and someone won with that very girl. I heard she was originally made to be in UA but the creator made her a bit older and had her work as a sidekick instead of a student.

The UA Big Three are those characters that show up and make the show INSTANTLY better (ex: Toph, Entrapta, Inosuke).

I had this thought now but throwing a punch Mirio needs to keep a lot of his body solid, if he has no mass then gravity doesn't affect him, so he can't generate punching force with just his feet and legs, you need to use your back, hips and shoulders to name a few so he's putting a lot of himself at danger just to throw a punch.
I think gravity does affect him, since he falls through things when his quirk is activated. (Not entirely sure on how the physics of that would work. It already is weird that he is visible when light passes through him)
He retains mass, he just passes through stuff
Also, despite light going through his eyes he is still completely visible.

I'd argue the fire ferrets are all somewhat extroverted, even Bolin. But yeah, it's a fun dynamic 😁

We have arrived at the finale of season 3! And what better way to end off than by showing off the Big 3.
Here’s the biggest thing to know about the Big 3. Each of them have the most attractive personality and/or have the look of the most popular people in High School and they easily draw people in. And everyone remembers SOMEONE like them. They draw people to them and have a LOT of charisma. They are basically their year for valedictorians.
Amajiki is shy and awkward but is still making more of an effort to be under such attention than most of his social energy level. He doesn’t want to be under this kind of attention but still tries the effort past his social anxiety and does try his best to analyze and critique the kids take on Mirio and does try to steer Mirio away from hurting anyone. He’s an inspiration to the shy and when it comes to the outgoing, they often take the “bless his heart” kind of mentality.
Nejire is a social butterfly that wants to just meet everyone from a genuine love and curiousity in people. She does lack some boundaries but at the very least she means well. If anyone remembers Charlotte from the Princess and the Frog, she’s that same level of socially excited but also at MHA pro hero competency. (That scene where she wants so badly to talk about Mirio’s quirk is hilariously similar to Charlotte talking about Prince Naveen with her dad)
And of course Mirio is the ultimate cheerful optimistic personality doing everything to keep himself and those around him smiling. And inspired to really keep pursuing more as heroes. The sky is HARDLY the limit with this one.
And of course this is needless to say, all 3 are EXTREMELY strong. Every aspect of their quirks have been explored, their techniques sculpted, they are all capable of being top level pros the INSTANT they graduate. And for the compliment from AIZAWA to just say Mirio is the closest person to achieving the #1 hero title without skipping a beat.
We have seen multiple pro heroes fight the kids but we did only catch a glimpse through their restraint. No weights, no rules, no goal for the kids to aim for here. Just fight. 18v1. And his biggest concern? Making sure he has his body in such a position so he won’t flash anyone. NONE of what their quirks are, their physical ability, their strategy, or if they’ll go for him with his back turned. NONE of that matters.
The quirk Permeation I have at #11 for strongest quirks in the show. He has a few distinct weaknesses from what I can tell. Armored quirks, and environment quirks. How convenient that Bakugo and Todoroki are not in the battle when they would be giving him the most trouble. Todoroki’s ice blasts Mirio can dodge but it also changes his perspective if he vanishes BEFORE Todoroki blasts. Then he can be blown way off course. And fire in general has to be tough for him. Kirishima COULD conceivably give Mirio a hard time, but his armor isn’t at a high level in comparison to the pro levels that Mirio fights at. Even Deku’s 8% full cowling armor isn’t enough. And he was tanking Bakugo explosions over and over.
And much like Best Jeanist, it’s more the technique that truly makes the quirk. It’s very similar to Inasa Yoarashi as well. The moves he uses SEEM simple enough, and he’s making it all look easy. But then as you break it down, you realize he’s doing some PRETTY crazy stuff with his quirk. He protects his head from Deku’s 1st kick, but left his ears tangible so he could hear long range blasts coming from behind him. He slips through the floor, but has to get a running start, and you see him angle his body just beforehand so he can get behind Deku. Then he poses for style points. You can see him get Momo right through her shield and dodge Tokoyami. Every movement and frame he’s moving is with purpose. He’s at the point where hitting him when he’s tangible isn’t enough. His punches are unblockable, his speed is INSANE and that’s WITHOUT quirk boosting. You have to get the exact SURFACE he makes tangible and you LITERALLY can’t tell. Like Stain, he’s found a way to make a jank quirk get to an insane level of proficiency.
Uraraka’s concern of Deku writing with nothing on nothing is hilarious as he tries to make notes. She’s still always got his back with the slight distance she tried to put between them. That’s why I said she’s figuring out her feelings. Thankfully their friendship level remains unchanged.
Deku and Mirio are very similar in their starting points. Deku has the strongest quirk PERIOD but it won’t be that until he puts an absurd amount into learning and mastering it building it up piece-meal. It’s the ultimate learning quirk. And Mirio sees a lot of similarity in thinking process. And thinks of someone he calls “Sir.”
And I love how Gran Torino has to remind Deku that All-Might is supposed to be training him. It’s so easy to forget! Sighhh, I’ll brush ANOTHER All-Might teaching complaint away and say Gran Torino thinks All-Might’s former sidekick would be good for Deku’s work studies pursuit. And he’s investigating a villain group making contact with the league.
And that’s where Season 3 gives us the cliffhanger. Season 3 is probably my 2nd favorite season overall. The subjects, the fights, the insane details, the development as Class A becomes a family, and just SO MUCH. Truly an amazing season. I’m of course hyped as heck for Season 4.
Question: what's the Quirk that you most enjoy analyzing and discussing?
My guess is either One For All (All Might/Deku's) or Zero Gravity (Uravity). Am I close?
@@HaydrogenBomb you got them both right on the money. Those are my top 2. The Todoroki’s feats are all great. It always depends because the character focus is all over but it’s most consistently Deku and Uraraka that I enjoy analyzing feats for.

17:48 The crazy part is that He has to constantly keep focused on his power you can tel by the way he's walking. While he looks like a classic cartoon character when he walks he always has one foot on the ground at all times.

Deku is voiced by the awesome Justin Briner! While very recognizable as a voice actor he has range, if you want to hear him be very un-deku like I'd suggest listening to him play Kiyotaka Ayanokoji from Classroom of the Elite!
He's also luck in black clover
It was also fun hearing him voice Cloud, in Final Fantasy 7 Machinabridged.
I love that we've even seen a perfect example of how hard Mirio's process is through Deku. Back right before he unlocked full cowl, he was training to increase the speed in which he could switch his power from limb to limb to get up the wall, but he just couldn't. Mirio didn't have a choice though, activating it through his whole body makes him fall, so he had to learn how to consciously switch and change how he uses his quirk in every situation! Which also highlights why prediction and experience are so important for him!
Some fun facts about Justin Briner (Deku’s English VA):
-He can sing!
-Deku is his biggest role in his career so far
-He and a lot of the other VA’s attend conventions, specifically in Texas where Funimation is based
-He’s in that popular tiktok sound “aNiMe Is An ImPoRtAnT pArT oF oUr CuLtUrE!”
-He occasionally streams on twitch and plays games and chats with viewers
-He got to meet his Japanese counterpart for the premier of the first movie! He said Japanese VA was super nice and respectful. Said he was nervous to meet him but it seemed like Japanese VA felt similar. Japanese VA brought a translation app with him so he and Justin could speak to each other and they ended up having lovely conversations with the help of the app!
-He and some of the other cast members have met the creator Horikoshi (who infamously doesn’t show his face or go out much) and they had dinner with him (Chris Sabaat who is All Might’s VA bribed Horikoshi with $50 to please not kill off All Might lol)
-When auditioning for the show, Clifford Chapin (Bakugo’s VA) auditioned for Deku, but was gunning for the part of Bakugo. He played his audition with the hunch he had that they were likely going to cast Justin as Deku, so he made his voice fit what he thought the directors would think best fit with Justin and that’s how he got the part LOL

Something I don't think the show does a great job of showing is why mirios punches seem so strong.
They give you enough information to infer the answer without outright telling us. As the show put it, it's Physics when mirio punches someone he often solidifies his fist while it's partly still in his target causing them to be repelled even harder.

This is the episode where we learn that Mirio, who's quirk does not enhance his physical strength at all, is far stronger in terms of physical strength/punching power than Deku using 8% One-For-All Full Cowling, which has always been a point of frustration for me.

@@LettsReact Well, in my mind I'm specifically comparing the end of the Bakugo vs. Deku fight to the part in this episode where Mirio puts Kirishima down in one gut punch, since he's a good bench mark for durability.
Kirishima's quirk is very defensive, making the surface of his body harder so it can take more punishment. We know the strength of this hardening can, at bare minimum, be compared to a thin layer of steel around his whole body from his fight against Tetsutetsu. Mirio one-shot Kirishima with a punch to the stomach through THAT.
In contrast, Bakugo's quirk is purely offensive, So he should have normal human durability when taking a punch. Near the end of their fight, Deku punched Bakugo across the front of his face. If the hit landed a few Centimeters lower, it would have been literally the perfect punch to knock a person out. (Fun fact: Boxers sometimes refer to the side of the chin as "The button" because if you hit someone there, even a light blow will knock them out cold). This punch, however, did not knock out Bakugo. He was, in fact, so unaffected by the attack that within the same second of taking the hit, he successfully grappled Deku in mid-air, did a flip, and blasted himself perfectly downward, winning the fight.
Also, remember that Deku is using 8% of his maximum One-For-All output and one would reasonably expect that 100% would look like the crap he pulled against Todoroki in the sports festival. For reference, assuming that the U.A. stadium is roughly the size of an Olympic stadium, the blast waves Deku made just by flicking the air with his fingers are comparable to the air blast of a small-scale tactical nuke. The fact that Bakugo even survived this FEELS wrong.
