      Don't get too ahead of yourself, while Ray is good, he is not God level. Video editing can make even the most inept look like a wizard.
      This job could have easily consumed several hours and another couple to do the editing.

      Watching a race team build a precision 3 second, 5000 HP Nitro Hemi engine between races in real time is both truly amazing and very impressive

      being able to provide a narrative whilst undertaking any task is a sign of experience ..
      Anyone who thinks it's easy simply needs to talk out loud and narrate what they see when they next drive their car / truck ..
      by that provide a constant narration of what they see .. other vehicles / the road signs / junctions / any potential dangers / hazards .. it's not easy

    Having found that sand around one spark plug I would have taken the precaution of blowing air around the each of the rest of the plugs before removing them!! That's something I was taught to do to every component before I removed it anyway!

    • @briankissel7661
      @briankissel7661 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The proper way to keep debris out of the engine and plug threads is, blast the immediate area with air, then blast into the spark plug tubes after removing the wires, then crack the plugs lose and rotate them out about a turn and air blast again to remove any dirt or sand sitting down there trapped. Use hand tools when removing the plugs to feel for any resistance, if encountered you can lube the old plugs with some WD-40 and run them in and out to see if it’s fixed, if not chase the threads with the proper tap or thread chaser (yes they are different tools).

      You can certainly make intake/exhaust more optimally power orientated than OEM when remapped. Then the rabbit hole beckons and you start looking at porting, suddenly you're inside the engine and looking at what could be forged and it isn't, bigger valves ofc, head work, your wife moves out and you are left alone in a garage covered in oil; looking at a set of engine parts you have no idea how to get back together. Is that what's bothering you brother? ( bit of an Eddie Lawrence - The Old Philosopher tribute)
      You lose efficiency in everyday driving ofc, the OEM has had engines it test bed for years and many 100k miles; learnt enough to know how much the books have to be fiddled with to get it through emmisions standards :D

      Just for looks only...because where does a stock intake get its air? From the "cold" outside. In fact most stock systems are better than the so-called cold air intakes with K&N filters, whose oil often fouls the MAF sensor.

    • @craigquann
      @craigquann ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That depends. The biggest gain is from the filter itself. A drop in performance replacement nets the majority of the gains a full system will give you... usually. Unless you have a weird and restrictive intake with baffles and a lot of piping. But they do work. Is it worth the extra couple hundred bucks for a few extra horses... well that's an individual choice. I put a drop in filter and replaced my pipe (it had bellows and resonators) with an airaid pipe. Kept the factory box however. But I also have my truck reflashed too.

      The one question that comes to mind is, why so many? I'm not knock'en Ford. Heck, I have an F150 w/ a 6 inch lift for a daily. I'm in the middle of building a 5.0L HO to replace the 4.6L (VIN 6) that's currently in it. Not for any particular reason, just because why not. I already owned the 5.0 as a complete motor and the truck, 97 F150 4X4 (I've got a lot of the nifty buzzers and whistles new trucks have. Just without the payments 😉). Anyway, I'm almost 50 and I haven't owned eight vehicles my entire life. Yeah, I've only had five. Not counting race cars or the wife's cars. But if you wanted to count the race cars, it's still only seven. Just curious is all. 🤠😎

  • @NotFastEddie
    @NotFastEddie ปีที่แล้ว +8

    My question is, what is the capacity of air flow through the OEM throttle body vs the capacity of the intake manifold? If the OEM throttle body wasn't restricting air flow through the OEM manifold, then there will be no HP increase. It doesn't matter what the throttle body can flow if the intake is already maxed out. It might feel like it has more HP because it will take less throttle pedal input to get the same HP output, but the max HP will be the same.
    Also, the factory air filter looked like it could flow at least as much air as the new filter. Since the new filter had to be smaller than the hole in the fender to maintain the cold air intake, it might actually be a restriction. It looks good, but they should have either left the factory air box in place or supplied another air filter housing and a tube to connect it to the cold air supply. That would allow for a larger filter and with it, better air flow and more HP.

    • @JohnF-go3ss
      @JohnF-go3ss ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The factory ford TB ,MAF and filter are not restrictive in Mustang form, the heads , cams, and exhaust are junk. Wont rev to 5K without falling on its face. Plus it has 6 cats to choke the exhaust futhermore...

    • @SCHMALLZZZ
      @SCHMALLZZZ 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @JohnF-go3ss the MAF's effective area is 3994 mm², the 65mm throttle is a mere 2668 mm²
      BBK 78mm effetive area is 3668 mm² which is overkill for stock heads and cam.

As even in the absence of anything else, the gasses produced while welding are poisonous & will cause major neurological problems. #3 Don't stick your face right in the weld. For the exact same reason. If you're going to weld you need to understand basic saftey steps. The whole "oh my God! If you weld "on top of" X, you will kill yourself" YT videos often don't understand the basic safety hazards of welding, and over play something heard from a friend, that had a GF, who heard it from a guy she was cheating on him with, that had a cousins he was banging who works at Walmart.

    We rented a new one a few months back, and it was too funny. When you put it in performance mode, it wasn't particularly quick but it sounded like a dragster. It turned out that all the sound was being piped in through the speakers. From the outside, it sounded the same as it did in eco mode.

    Hey Ray. I was watching the video and I noticed that you used the factory bolts on the bbk throttle body for the throttle bracket and your not suppose to. If you go back to 9:50. You can see why they will protrude through the throttle body thus making it a paper weight at that point. Bbk gives you all the hardware you need for it I installed it on my mustang aswell.

    • @jhundo125
      @jhundo125 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you watch it in slow mo, the only thing protruding into the air path are actually the BBK installed vacuum ports. There is a small bump in the casting where one of the bracket bolts is, the bolt itself doesn't protrude.

    I know my way around the 4.6. With that engine as is, anything more than a 70mm throttle body is a waste and HP loss. You can port the short side radius of the OEM elbow and get more hp and torque with just the 70mm throttle body bolted to it. Way less coin, better results. For intake, take off the fender snorkle on the OEM intake, along with the mesh infront of the MAF and you will get better results. The extra length and bends in those cold air intakes reduce horsepower. Coils, plugs and wires, Mission Systems stuff hands down only coils and plugs that work. Rest are china. The other best mods to do to the 4.6 2 valve are exhaust port matching and cleanup on short side of the intake runners to port match, 3.73 or 4.10 gears, and X pipe. Any other mild mods are essentially useless unless you throw on a chip (recommend Delta Force if they still make them) or blower.
    One last thing... if you are zip tying the wires to the coils, they are not installed correctly. Look on the Mission Systems website for the ignition wire install on their coils. It will explain how to properly install. The inside of connectors are not seated right.

      Any engine is a big air pump. The easier and colder air is getting in, faster it's mixed with fuel and burned, and less restrictive it is leaving the exhaust, the more efficient it is. Most times we base thsee kinds of go fast goods on a HP number or TQ. Or 0-60mph. My 4.6 Town car has 2 cats on each side. I hollowed them out, shoved a pipe up through so it looks the part, no sniff here, and cut mufflers and just run factory resonators. I get better Mpg, sounds better not too loud but sounds like a V8 sedan should, and I cut and sealed off tge silencers in intake and it has a tiny 2.5 inch hole and horn that sucks in air. I cut the entire bottom of box an inch past filter. I get was better mileage, passing in a yacht is fun, and I just smile more. Sometimes it's not about number but about how happy it makes u. But I'm no interweb master classman. I'm sure there's a ultimate master that will guarntee these go fast goodies with net u a solid 245 HP extra and 280 Ftpds of turks. And shoot flames out pipes when u shut off, Bury gas, and start back up in Neutral. Ahh I good old days when cars sucked and music did not. U have a gr8 wknd.

    That "lubricant" you put into every spark plug boot is actually silicone 'dielectric grease' that is designed to keep out moisture which cause corrosion. That it lubricates the friction-y rubber is just a side benefit. Why didn't you use D-E grease on the coil terminal boots, too ? They are much more exposed than the spark plugs to splash water and grime in the air.
