Best neo-retro edition ever. Morris Commercial succeed where Volkswagen Type 2 and Citroën H-Type failed, keeping the spirit and the authenticity of an iconic van while giving it all the new toys. It's a proof of taste and commercial sense. I can't wait having one of those.
What happened to the sliding doors? I used to love driving my old Bedford Utilibrake with the sliding doors clipped open in the summer. I know it was bad 'Elf and Safety but it was Fun.
I love it that we are going to get this van back on the road. Cars are almost all the same these days, playing it safe. If my budget will allow it in some years from now, I'll like to get a camper van version of it. Also, hope it will inspire VW. ;-)
How lovely, Wendy! Do you end up driving your Morris J-Type often? We'd love to hear more about your experience with the van. Email us on rev.community@dw.com
nice original, but the new one is just a cheap but overpriced electric copy of the old one! Terrible! A petrol engine as alternativ should be the absolut minimum alternative offer! Otherwise it`s a no-go Alternative for me.
This is the future of design!!! Please do the same with the z series..but same Nowadays cars are boring and ugly. Specially the electric ones. Waiting 4 the arrival on Chile
I had the original and it was. The awful side valve engine that let it down, it was thirsty and unreliable burnt oil like it was going out of style. BUT the shape was really cute and pleasant even the sliding door was nice. I failed my driving test as it did not impress the examiner when he sat right back. I retook it in an escort next time.
The older version reminds me of the timeless Spitfire. The New Version is Excellent and I Sincerely Wish the Owners of the New Venture every Success. Make sure there available Down Under Australia 🇦🇺 😅please 🙏
It would be nice here in the USA, but put a petrol/gasoline engine/drivetrain in it. Also get rid of the 'convenience' electronics like the cameras for side mirrors, those are just an added expense. Ms. Li must never have seen the USA vans of the 1970s-1980, that were heavily modified on the inside to suite the owner's purpose, and with all styles of graphics on the exterior. One deterrent to a USA version might be the recent demise of the smaller vans produced by Nissan, Ford, and Dodge/RAM. Those were really minimalist on the interior, had no 'style', had poor suspension and handling (the Ford Transit that I drove for a while at work) and were not comfortable at all; even the passenger versions were pretty 'spartan' on the inside.
Truthfully, the range is actually quite reasonable from what I have seen, even potentially in an American context. The petrol/gasoline thing might not be necessary because of that.
Hello Maximillian, well spotted, but that is the 1949 petrol van at 2:40 and yes, it is very noisy with the engine inside the cab. You can even lift the cover and change the spark plugs at the traffic lights without moving from the driver's seat. I can assure you that the electric JE is "whisper quiet"! Have a great 2023!

Hi stottybox, the side door of the production pink van will accept a pallet and overall the van has a class leading 1,000 kg payload and 6.5m3 rear volume. This with a 80kWh battery gives a class leading range of 250 miles WLTP. The lightweight design is the key, compared to the heavy structures of our competition. Weight is everything for a commercial vehicle as I am sure you know. So we believe that we are style AND substance!
Looks nothing like the original how many have they sold ? three I've ne'er seen one , it's far too small in comparison with a vw , sprinter , transit, etc
It amazes me the relentless pursuit of the English car designers to produce junk cars since beginning of last century. I think they should just stop doing this instead design and produce nice comfort coffee table Instead ..!!😂
What a stunning vehicle
It's an iconic car
This is very intelligent. I wish Morris Commercial all the best and hope their endeavor is a success!

Thank you so much "Plume"
This is such a thing of beauty. What a wonder job the company has done with this.
Brilliant!
Near my home in Canberra there is an original Morris J on static display in a local shop.
That's nice to hear...hopefully a few of these will be on the streets down under, we've had hundreds of sign-ups so there should be!
The Way he says Happieness 🧡
Such an amazing versatile little van, funky as it is and the customization world would have a field day with these.
Yeb, it's a great van
What happened to the sliding doors? I used to love driving my old Bedford Utilibrake with the sliding doors clipped open in the summer. I know it was bad 'Elf and Safety but it was Fun.
Love it, love it, can't afford it.
Thank you Stephen...we hope that you win the lottery!
Wish these would be available in the states
Morris was a pile of garbage
We do plan that they will be but not until 2025 or so. I think there is a "Car and Driver" article coming up soon. Have a great 2023!
At least you have the Ford Maverick.
Just begs the question why Ford waited until 2022 to make a hybrid pick up
So their not? Then what's the point? Fly to UK get one what the problem is ?

Welcome back Morris Commercial! Hope SAIC to revive Morris and Austin !

Thank you! We have an incredible number of pre-orders and lots of interest in a camper van variant. We really hope that you will become an owner!
@Morris Commercial now if you built an LHD version for export... now it will be something, especially in Europe and Asia.
Beautiful😍😍
I would love to see what a larger rv would look like in this style because its gorgeous
Been saying for years the original 2CV, Renault 4, Mini, etc need to make a comeback. Original but with better engines, equipment or even electric.
We agree with you!
I prefer the original, much more character. I own an original 1949 Morris Jvan, it was my late husbands joy.
How lovely, Wendy! Do you end up driving your Morris J-Type often? We'd love to hear more about your experience with the van. Email us on rev.community@dw.com
Here in México City, I have a '53 and a' 55 ,, , they are unique.! !! 😀
I loved it. I would love to ride in such a car.
Thank you Mauro!
When is the diesel engine version being released?
Hello John. Well this has got my attention I like the concept very nearly got me out of retirement. Hope you do well Cheers H
Great to hear from you Howard! Ha ha...I've totally failed at this retirement games as you see. How are you?
Looks cool! :) Would love these for our business! Nice work!!
Go for it!
Thank you Paul, it's taken a while but we are getting there!

@@thomasprochaska5083 Why don't you just get a horse and cart.
Any thoughts on fitting them with solar panels?
The best 👍👍👍
Thank you.....we think so too!!

the larger austin K2 was nice
So much character.
The Morris is a beautiful car

Great story...we have two originals and they are "hard work" on an A road with a 40 tonner behind you on a hill! Dog leg first as well!
I want one😍😍😍
we support you 😉
only with petrol engine!
@@thomasprochaska5083 Maybe for you but for me I would like to have a Electric version

Did you mean the Triumph Spitfire? That's an interesting take! What specifically reminded you of the Spitfire? We'd love to know.
Is it also available as a 5-7 seater-bus?!🤔🤔🤔
We plan to but after the van and pick-up...more certification required....
Please any one know a way to get the agency to sale this in the USA
We plan to get there Wasim...
@@MorrisCommercial I really feel its going to be a big success
Carbon fiber and handmade aluminum chassis? This must cost a lot.
I am sure that there are ways to automate the production of that.

I wanted my brother to bye one of those vans he got a Bedford instead
nice idea ... should be offered also with a diesel engine
And a V8 petrol!
@@2Truth2you Ha ha....yes would be fun (Shhhhushhhh!)
IT'S A NICE COPY OF THE 1930'S, 40'S International Harvester
Such a shame they have dropped the split screen. Interior is a bit too posh
2:40 sounds like they need to work on refinement.

It's definitely extortionately priced. Just like the VW ID BUZZ
At least, it is beautiful! I don't think we can say so about the VW Van...

Making it electric has doomed it to fail.
