Uganda's Battle Against the ADF | GC News

- In this episode of GC News we'll be looking at four stories from different parts of the world.
🇨🇩 First, a recent surge in attacks linked to a terrorist organization known as the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) resulted in deadly protests the Democratic Republic of the Congo's (DRC) North Kivu province. The ADF was originally established in Uganda, but later relocated to the eastern DRC in the 1990s. Considered the deadliest of nearly a dozen or so groups operating in the DRC, the ADF is reported to have killed about 6,000 people since 2013.
🇸🇴 Next, Somalia and Turkey have signed a series of landmark deals, including a memorandum of understanding (MOU), which establishes Ankara as a partner in Mogadishu's maritime security and law enforcement for the next 10 years. This MOU was followed by another, which will make Turkey a partner in the exploration, extraction, and possible distribution of Somalia's oil and natural gas reserves.
🇲🇻 Heading east, the Maldives recently decided to ban Israeli tourists from entering the country due to the ongoing war in Gaza. Although details of the ban are still being worked out, some are concerned this could unintentionally impact the nearly 2 million Arab citizens of Israel.
🇰🇵 🇰🇷 And finally, tensions are rising on the Korean Peninsula after North Korea released thousands of balloons filled with trash. Pyongyang claimed this was done in retaliation for an ongoing campaign by defectors and activists in South Korea who regularly send balloons across the highly militarized border.

Aside from the interesting information as always, you are the master of the world’s most difficult names! 👏👏 The balloon segment was…wow.
Thanks Tina! Things still seem to be heating up on the Korean Peninsula.
you're videos offer so much insight and information far more than any documentary, not to mention news that I wach bravo for choosing topics 😊😊😊 Just bravo bravo, Im still to watch the video but I already love the topic 😊😊😊
Wow, thank you so much! We're aiming to make GC News a reoccurring series here on the channel (probably 1 video a month or something like that); so, we've got plenty more planned.
The concise information presented in these news briefs is top notch and much better than most so called news outlets. Keep it coming!!!
Thanks; we’re aiming to make this a reoccurring series!
Love this format, makes me feel like I'm reading the paper in Victoria 2.
I always wished there was a "whats going on in the world" section in my local paper that covered this in this scope.
Nice concise video
I found the Korean one most interesting
Thank you and there's actually more to that story, since North Korean troops crossed the border several times recently. According to South Korea, this likely was accidental - they were laying down land-mines on sections of the DMZ - but still, it put Seoul understandably on guard.
I was wondering why Turkei had such a big hand in Somalia... 30% of the EES's revenue is huge.
A few years back, Turkey also secured a 99-year lease over Suakin Island over in Sudan. Ankara plans to restore the ruined Ottoman port-city on the Red Sea and it may fit into oil/natural gas exploration off the coast of Somalia.
Very interesting stories!!
Thanks; glad you think so!
Yesss I was looking for this
Glad to hear it Noah!
Hey could you make a episode on Baloch
I haven't finished the video yet, but could you cover Rwenzururu you mentioned here! I know that name might be a little difficult, but it's a really interesting story in Uganda that really didn't get as much coverage as it probably should've considering the unrest a few years back.
I've actually been planning an episode on Rwenzururu for quite a while now, but there's a few topics I was holding until the channel's views hit certain metrics. We're pretty close now - I'd personally like to see more videos hitting 50K regularly - but Rwenzururu definitely is going to happen sometime!
It's interesting how many armed groups that's in the DRC.
A LOT. Back in the 90s every country neighboring the DRC had to deal with armed groups hiding out across the border. As for Kivu, I think there are at least 6.
Nifty
Thanks!
1:24 wow a successful monarchist movement : )
my uganda
Coming from kenya, I was shocked at the amount of muslims in Kampala. Guys, we are going to lose our countries when the Arabs decide.
The US should restrict travel to the Maldives punitively, keep American tourist money to countries that deserve it and within our borders.
Imagine being this much of a gimp for a genocidal regime
What are yiu talking about 😂 Uganda is supporting ADF
What are you smoking?
@@jonathanwilliams1065 this is beyond your mind, you'll never understand this!!!
Not at all, Uganda fights ADF, not supporting it
The religion of peace strikes again
My poor Congo ❤🇨🇩💔
