      Amazing! Although I question the Earthroamer putting that much weight on a Ford chassis and giving it a 4x4 badge. Ford does not make a 4x4, the units they sell as 4x4's have open differentials. And having owned a few Fords, reliability is a serious issue.

      @@MustSeeTech First thing that I thought of when I saw these was just that. Take a base vehicle, build the stronger, lighter body in the back, put portable sized equipment inside and pull a trailer with a large, high watt output diesel genset on it like what the military uses and give aid and a helping hand to those in other countries instead of giving gramma and grampa a reason to blow their retirement savings all in one go.

    For those wondering why the American brands are more expensive. It’s because the materials used in Europe are vastly inferior. Plywood rots away behind and below unseen, the metals are not protected from corrosion the same etc. it’s like purchasing a computer from Best Buy compared to having a computer specialist put together a rig that out beats everything at Best Buy.

    It would be perfect with a van like the low-roof Ford Transit. It would be necessary to mold the rear part of the vehicle to reproduce it identically. In the front part: a canvas part which folds and unfolds (Because we cannot cut the vehicle)
    Ce serait parfait avec un van comme le Ford Transit à toit bas. Il faudrait mouler la partie arrière du véhicule pour le reproduire à l'identique. En partie avant : une partie en toile qui se plie et se déplie (Car on ne peut pas couper le véhicule)

    • @french-9743
      @french-9743 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MustSeeTech Thanks for answering.
      I have watched the rest of the video.
      The other models are too big, too high. Manufacturers have forgotten one very large market: People who want discreetness, manoeuvrability, low wind surface area, low fuel cunsumption. The ideal RV must be able to be at ease in nature and in cities. They have to be polyvalent and autonomious.
      They must be able to turn and turn around like a car, not like a truck.
      The best vehicule for 1 or 2 persons is something like the Ford Transit van with a liftable roof. It exists. Several manufacturers make them but the sides are canvas. Not very efficient in winter...
      The sides of the liftable roof must be rigid and insulated. When a manufacturer will understand this, he will have made a fortune because he will sell a lot of units. There is no point in making non-standard models like in this video which will be sold very expensive but only in few units. Such a model with a rigid liftable roof exists on the basis of all brands that make vans, but not on the basis of the Ford Transit. It is a real commercial success. The waiting period is 15 months to be delivered. This company therefore has no interest in expanding its range because it would be unable to supply demand.
      However, some customers value the Ford Transit, they want nothing else but this model because it is the van of the future. The 2020 model is already AWD with 10 gears, and is equipped with many innovative and very useful options for safety. In a short time it will probably be the first hybrid van model. The hybrid models of this model already exists in Europe, but with a very small engine unsuitable for the North American continent (1 liter Ecoboost about 120 hp).
      In summary: The manufacturer who will have the idea of putting a liftable hard roof on the Ford Transit will sell a lot. He will sell far more when this model will be hybrid with a normal thermal engine which will have repairers in all the car dealerships in America.

    • @MustSeeTech
      @MustSeeTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for such a detailed response. Transit is already one of the most favorite platforms for camping conversions, so it is just a matter of time till manufacturers come with something that fits your criteri and is based on the new 2020 model. Btw, I've got a video on Ford-based RVs. There are a few Transit entries. Check it out: th-cam.com/video/EN714HK9NPA/w-d-xo.html

    I wonder reading all of these reviews of portable living spaces of all sizes yes anyone ever addresses leveling LEVELING? If you have ever tried living in one of these after it has been parked on a slant location tama and most locations are on some kind of slant after you get inside and find your water in your sink slips to one side, you are disappointed. Also some commercially made systems of pumps and evacuations will not operate if not level. Obtaining level by inserting wood under the wheels is a long effort when you are probably most tired. There is no disappointment like parking carefully getting in and getting settled and finding that you're a few inches off of level which stops lots of your functions. After trying this a number of times, I would pay extra for an automated leveling system to be built in. I would pay for that probably, first before anything else.
    Even parked on a curb on a city street well toss your vehicle to one side and make it unpleasant or inoperable. Think ahead.
