I hope we can have most fellow students as companions. Obviously they wouldn’t all have deep backgrounds or quests, but the flexibility would be very cool.
I would love to see 8 possible companions- 2 each House and depends on the gender of the player's character or his/her action.

I’m hoping there’s more than just 4 companions to interact with, but not at cost of writing/story. A changing companion would be interesting, something like the father character in mass effect andromeda. Either that or it could be based on presets.
I think the biggest thing… like you said… is these companions not making the story worse! As long as that doesn’t happen, I’m in!
That the gender of the Ravenclaw companion depends on which gender you select for your Avatar makes a lot of sense for why we haven't had any information about him/her. I personally still hope it will be a male companion regardless of Avatar's gender but we'll see.
Being a ravenclaw I really want to see the companion soon

Your prediction about the Ravenclaw being Asian had me thinking. That, and the assumption that the name may be familiar to us .
I looked to see what part of China the the Chang name comes from, and it is of mandarin origin.
When looked at mandarin boy names, I came across the name, Chao. It means, someone who surpasses, and forms his own journey. It sounds a bit like the scant description that was given of the companion; "...dares to discover."

Side note: There should totally be a Hogwarts house represented by a rabbit!🐇😅
I wonder if this Ravenclaw might be a descendant of Abe no Seimei (often called Japan's Merlin), a great Japanese wizard who was a known diviner.

Maple is the wood of travelers. It is also associated with intellect, and communication.
Kaede is a unisex Japanese name, meaning maple. (Kaede Abe?)
Ronin means drifter, wanderer.
Ryu means dragon.
I wonder if the ravenclaw companion starts as the rival but their gender depends on what our character is?
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery changes the gender of the companion depending on which gender you play as.
I do have the feeling that we don't just get 4 companions.
when Eldenring came out. I thought we've seen so much of the game already (because they showed a lot of stuff.

The idea of the Ravenclaw companion being male or female based on your gender is not outside the realm of possibility. The app game Hogwarts Mystery, made by avalanche/portkey games, had the first friend you meet be male or female, depending on what gender you selected.

@@NightlyNerd_ Thinking about it some more, I have some doubts this will happen in a game like this. Dark Souls 3 has meaningful voice lines, but not a lot of them, plus the main character has no lines at all but grunts. They potentially need to hire 2 voice actors for 1 character only half will interact with at best. Their question will be "Will it be worth the cost to hire 2?"
I wish the were evil companions you could friend. Instead of heroic companions.
That’s a very interesting theory and it could definitely explain all the secrecy about the last companion!
That will be very interesting because we saw a Ravenclaw female companion on the haunted hogsmeade trailer and old one too…..🧐

The ravenclaw in the haunted hogsmead trailer is the player character.
And as stated before, it will most likely be a male, but not a Caucasian.
That was the main character not a companion

@@jamesquinn4185 i know, but seeing as companies are trying to get more diverse, it will most likely be some other ethnicity. Sebastian and Poppy are Caucasian, Natsai black and the 4th one, if there is one, will be something else.

I have a theory that the Ravenclaw companion might be trans. After the Rowling thing blew up they announced that you'd be able to play as a trans character if you chose to. Maybe at some point they realized it'd be wierd that if you did, you'd be the only trans kid in the school and redisigned the Ravenclaw companion and their story as a way to add inclusion that you can opt out if you want, and didn't announce them with the rest so that the news of a trans companion wouldn't overshadow the rest of the state of play 🤔
I do like both the idea that the gender of the character might depend on choices made by the player, and that the companion may be Asian.
It would also be quite interesting to see a lesser known Asian folklore, and mythology, explored in the game (Thai, Korean, Cambodian, etc.).
