I recall searching out Anchor Bay stuff back when they were releasing VHS tapes and then DVDs. Blue Underground is a great label too, always quality releases with excellent special features. Bill Lustig made some of my favorite movies (especially along with Larry Cohen). He's got a ton of great stories and I always enjoy hearing from him, whether in an interview or on a commentary track. Thanks for having him on the show.
My favorite Blue Underground title is The Final Countdown. Good amount of bizarre and fun. Thanks for show, you've made me want to check out The Innocents. Happy Halloween !🎃
I have tons of Anchor Bay DVDs and, more recently, Kino and Powerhouse Indicator Blu-Rays. Big, Big THANK YOU! Also, I had quite a few Laserdiscs way back when. I got mine thru Columbia Laserdisc Club (I was an old Columbia Record Club kid). What I went for were Widescreen editions of movies like STAR WARS and JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH and THOSE MAGNIFICENT MEN IN THEIR FLYING MACHINES. Them wuz the days. As far as boutique releasing companies, I will continue to support them and buy quick, before they disappear. That's why physical media is the best. Once you have it in your hand, you have it. As far as beyond 4K, I expect to see 6K, 8K, 10K, 12K from the majors, so they can soak people for an additional release. For them, it's not about quality, it's about profits.😭😭😭
Thanks Frank, Bill & Alisha! Hello.. hoping Kino Lorber will put more DTS:X and or Dolby Atmos /immersive sound mixes in your 4k releases.. even it is just at least an expansive mix like the stuff (opening up the soundstage) in the Columbia classic collection V 5. Because truthfully I'm holding back on most 4k releases that dont have an immersive sound re-mix in addition to Video remaster. Thanks for all you do!
Fantastic news that NATE & HAYES is FINALLY getting a Blu-ray release. It's a grand, entertaining movie - maybe the best period adventure film of the 1980s that hadn't found its way to the format yet. Perhaps that will pave the way for some other action-adventure films of the era like HIGH RISK, BEAR ISLAND, and QUIET COOL that are still out there waiting for their day.
I’ve been waiting forever for something better than DVD for the film Houseboat. I see Kino is releasing it on Blu-ray in Jan. 2025! You have a 6K scan, are you going to release a 4K Ultra HD disc of it anytime soon?
Good to hear you are working on Nate & Hayes (Savage Islands). I did a video on my channel a while back and there’s a lot of love/interest out there for it. I have it on laserdisc and had originally seen it at the cinema as a second feature
Pretty good interview. I wonder, if reason, why Bill Lustig can´t get access to Dario Argento´s Inferno and Soavi´s Stagefright negatives is evil Disney blocking the licensing or what is the story behind problems. I bet some stories from the process of getting certain movies released on BluRays would be awesome to hear or read.
Could someone ask Frank if it would be possible for Kino Lorber to work with Shout Factory to bring the movie Snow Falling on Cedars to a 4K UHD disc release, kind of like how Kino released Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) with the special features from Shout Factory disc plus a few additional special features from Kino Lorber? I have the Shout Factory blu-ray of Snow Falling on Cedars. It is an amazing movie and a great blu-ray release, and I would love to have an even better 4K UHD disc release from Kino.

This was a very interesting discussion. Thank you.
I would love to get anything with George Burns!
I wish Kinos had Spanish subs! A lot of people in Latin America would buy lots of titles from your awesome catalog!

Every single one of those Buster Keaton silents in that box are ESSENTIAL! Keaton was the man, one of my favorite people to ever enter the business.

Great news that Venom is coming to 4K. That’s one underseen film.
Great video 👌👌👌👌

I can't wait for Hatari and I'm a huge John Wayne fan

How do I get one of those Kino Cult hats?
Collecting films on bluray gives film studios the incentive to restore and preserve the movies they own. Otherwise, why bother?
Tarantino is full of crap. Lot of his favorite films of all time are from the 80s (Blow Out/The Thing). So I don't know wth he's talking about.
