Use Side Imaging to find Pre Spawn Crappie | Crappie fishing Lake of the Ozarks

  • In this video I explore new water on lake of the Ozarks in search of pre-spawn crappie. During the early part of the pre-spawn season, crappie will suspend near the mouths (around points) and in the middle of creek channels. Side Imaging is must when trying to find these suspended fish, crappie will show up as bright dots or short lines. Fish are easiest to spot when scanning over a soft bottom (mud/muck) like the middle of creek channels.

Thanks for posting. I've got a Garmin Side Imaging unit that I need to learn how to use and it's nice to see some samples of what fish look like when you're using it.

You must have big hands like I do. My hands make every fish look small (seriously). Happy Fishing!

Here in Wisconsin we have a short growing season and Musky's and Norther Pike that follow crappies into the shallows when they spawn and have a feast so our bag limits go down, down, down

Hi, how come my fish finder is not as clear as your helix 9 gen 1. I have a helix 7 gen3 si. I mean I can barely see anything with a sonar? Thanks

make sure your transducer is mounted level with the water. also make sure it is far enough away from your outboard so it doesn't cause interference.

We thought about doing that, but we were catching some good fishing slowly trolling jigs. It seemed the slower we trolled the more big fish we caught.
