- Originally released on Elton John’s debut album in 1969, “Skyline Pigeon” was re-recorded three years later - this time with Elton playing piano instead of harpsichord. This new 1972 version would become a big hit and an Elton signature song in Brazil. Elton has described the track as one of the first ""great"" songs that he and Bernie Taupin wrote together. This version is taken from the Allianz Parque concert in São Paulo, Brazil, on April 6th 2017.

I'm so happily surprised so many Brazilians in the audience knew all the words to this old song! Sao Paulo was the last place I was a tourist before Covid, in February 2020... I had a great time in your country, lovely friendly people...

Uma pena Elton John ter se aposentado dos palcos. Não tive a oportunidade de assisti-lo pessoalmente, mas sua obra é incrível. Vida longa ao rei da música.
I got to see Elton twice in the 80s. He was wonderful in concert! I regret that I didn't see him during the Yellow Brick Road farewell tour. This is my favorite Elton song. When he sang it at the Ryan White concert, I bawled my eyes out. I still get the chills when I hear it. 😢

Vim aqui lembrar do meu pai que se foi no dia 15, ele e minha mãe eram divorciados a mais de década, ao saber, ela veio de outro país no próximo avião sem pensar duas vezes, no velório, sofreu como os 4 filhos sofreram, chorou e não parava de olhar pra ele.
Os 2 se amavam muito e o divorcio não mudou nada, eu sei que eles queriam ter outra vida pra fazer diferente, isso doí muito, seu comentário não poderia estar mais certo.

I would say Elton is a national treasure, but really, he's a world treasure. He is so loved everywhere. I grew up with Elton's music in my life, and that has been a treasure to me. My gosh! Look at all the people standing out in the pouring rain just to see/hear this man sing amazing old songs. There will never be another Elton John and we are blessed to experience it first hand.

I remember Elton sang this beautiful song at the funeral of Ryan White, the young man who died from AIDs many years ago.
I love how many borders Elton crosses - and to see most of these Brazilians singing along brings me so much joy. I'd be right there with them.. Not to mention swaying along with so much happiness. I can't want to see him again and I do hope he plays this song!

I was 6 years old, hanging out at my aunt's, when she put on the soap opera "Carinhoso" international soundtrack. Suddenly this piano comes in and then a huge voice singing beautifully. I thought JESUS THAT SOUNDS GREAT! WHO IS THAT??? I picked up the cover and there it was: Skyline Pigeon - Elton John. I'll never forget it. Funny thing was, I had no idea what he was saying in the song!
