I never understood the concept of the filibuster before this! I've heard of it and even knew it was about wasting time. Never thought the argument in Congress would be a timed verbal chess match.
The point of a filibuster when used properly is to make it so the minority party can have the power to do things rather than just get beaten by math. A key element in how the US government is setup is that no single person or group can hold all the strings of power at once. That is why getting any major changes done takes forever.
That is all how it is supposed to work, at times the balance fails and the country suffers for it.

I propose the following:
1) Any government, business, or property owner prohibiting the lawful possession/carrying of a self defense weapon, must provide adequate protective measures to provide the same or higher level of protection that the individual would/could/should have been able to provide for them selves.
2) Any politician that proposes, sponsors/cosponsors, votes for, or enacts an unconstitutional ordinance, mandate, bill, rule, regulation, or law will be guilty of treasonous activity, punishable by removal from office, banned from ever holding elected/appointed office for life, fines totaling their salary during their elected/appointed term +5 years, and prisoned for not less than 5 years.
3) Any group, civil or political in nature that, by their actions or charter prohibit, or attempt to prohibit lawful/constitutional activities or that violate any part or parts of the Bill of Rights will be subject to the terms laid out in section 2.
Of course, I’m not a lawyer, politician, or judge. I’m just a person sick and tired of this

The problem here is not the entirely predictable behavior of the witness, trying to consume as much of the 5 minutes the Congressman has...they ALL do it.
The problem is that the GOP led House has not changed the rules for hearings and allow each side 1 hour with the witness for as many rounds of questioning as it takes. The Committee can change those rules with a simple majority vote, and Republicans have the majority...SO DO IT!!!!!!
Then witnesses will have to answer questions for 1 hour at a time, from each side. And each side can come back for more, as many times as they wish. No more filibustering and dodging until "The gentleman's time has expired"
