It's not going out of business anytime soon, it's owned by Amazon. Especially since people already signed away their privacy away to Apple, Google, Microsoft, and any tech company these days.
Why put cameras inside your home to begin with. Privacy is being taken as soon as you do that because someone is viewing that footage whether it be the teenager being watched by his parent or a stranger on the internet. It's just not right.
Good luck. Most of them are probably in a different legal jurisdiction thousands of miles away. The FBI doesn't have the resources to investigate and prosecute when cities and police departments have their IT systems ransomware encrypted. You think they're going to lift a finger over this?
That is creepy, imagine if the hacker is watching the whole time without anyone realizing and continue to live normally. Security companies should look into this to prevent this from happening in the future.
Theres not much they can do.. There's not really much to look into..security companies know how its done..Anything with an internet connection can be hacked..Its up to the owner to prevent their cameras from being hacked.
You should be. Once the video is uploaded to Amazon or any other third party's servers it's under their control to do with as they please and they can share it with any government agency they want.
Spouse?? that has absolutely nothing to do with it. People put camera's into their homes for security reasons. For example, if someone breaks in, wouldn't it be nice to have the suspect's face and evidence to show to the cops? 🤦
Did I Stutter? : There are people who will agree with you. Myself I’m not, I have all my cameras outside around My House! I wanna walk around how I please inside my home without worrying about hackers. And statistic shows that 70% of married women Cheat! I’m single and hanging and banging. Trust me don’t sleep on these women especially today’s married women! Peace!
BK ALL DAY stuttering Stanley how about if someone has a vacation home and no wife and just wants to be able to pop in once in a while and make sure all is well inside and out . What if just maybe burglars somehow magically covered their faces with these things called hoodies and masks till they got inside because unless they are also this ignorant they probably are used to cameras and ring doorbells by now it’s almost 2020 lol they know we got em . 😅😂🤣 it’s not like every time a notification pops up we immediately check it out either . Because then who would be the paranoid one at that point 😝 . Your projecting your own trust issues hence why you don’t have a wife and act like being a bachelor is by choice 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😎 cool guy 2019 .
irob rf : I myself still wouldn’t put cameras inside my vacation home. I will do the same as my primary home. Cameras outside going around the entire house. Cause my home is detached. And the Slomin Shield Alarm system with motion detection inside the home. You must realize your not gonna have anything of value at the vacation home. So if they steal a tv or stereo so what. Brand new tv cost 200-300 dollars 50in. And as far as my primary home again I’m not worry about a tv or stereo. Because my valuables and important papers are not kept at home. I don’t value things like a tv cause that’s what they gonna steal. They’re not gonna take my king size bed or sofas. So I don’t stress things like that. I was married for 20 yrs now divorce since 2013. The minute I caught her cheating that was it. I did a whole 360 kept it moving. If it walks and quacks like a duck, it’s a duck. So I’ve been hanging and banging ever since.
In asia, its big business to have 'spycams' in hotels. So you're in your hotel relaxing on the bed, they sell that online. People pay alot to watch too. Someone was saying its per hour of footage.
The same can go for people watching/commenting on TH-cam, Facebook, and Twitter.... They're already making money doing live streams on people, so it's unlikely this will go away soon.
@@Price_719 I'm pretty sure we don't have to give you all scenarios where it's a good idea, but "catching them" outside...doesn't show them fully entering or what they're doing inside and if there was a terrible crime inside...you'd want details for the court case. I mean I understand the importance of home security, but inside the house? Who would be dumb enough to have cameras inside their own home connected to the internet?
If someone running a business I get the cameras, but not for regular home use. Plus having cameras tell the professional thieves, you have something worth protecting and end up doing the opposite and making your house a target. If you still want a camera system, hide them and outside so not noticeable from far and looking at front door. No need for one in your living area, if you have to invest in a CCTV type with DVR that not connected to the internet.
I’m a 27 year old woman from Montreal and MY ring videodoorbell was HACKED! AND MY ring security system. For over 4 months It affected me mentally and physically. It is still hacked as we speak. I would hear weird voices at weird hours of the night/early morning coming from outside my front door. Scared to death thinking that there was someone trying to break into my condo, I would open the door and no one would be there. This went on for weeks, then months. Until I figured out what It was, I called the police twice to make a report, There was nothing they could do since they had no description of a witness and no lead other than me telling them I was hearing voices at night. I was so scared I would go 2 to 3 days without any sleep, Missed work because I was sleep deprived, and scared to death that I had a stocker creeping up at my front door all through the night, talking whispering and breathing heavily. One night I was awoken by a man’s voice coming from outside my front door. . . I checked the peephole and there was no one there. I slowly open the door And stood there. Watching and listening, out of view of the camera. That’s when I Heard a man breathing heavily. I realized the voice was coming from my ring video doorbell!!! During the day I would sometimes hear a man coughing or breathing. When I would log into my Ring app to check my previous video footage, Or vide footage timeline. I would come to find out my video footage was GONE!! It was manually deleted which is impossible, unless I am the one who Physically deletes it. I would also have videos that were completely blacked out, and my live views were replaced with Old footage! Old footage of outside my door. It took me a while to figure out the live views weren’t live at all!!! when I replayed them and Turned the volume all the way up, the sounds in every saved live video were identical. This applied to live views that I would check daily going back for up to two weeks. I decided to bring the ring video doorbell inside my home. I put black tape over the camera lens and microphone. Open my Ring app, ran a live view and turned the volume on way up and left it running for hours and hours at a time, even over night. The next night around 4 AM, Sounds started coming from the video doorbell That I left on my night table. I picked it up and listened. I heard a man breathing very loudly. Every time I would make any type of noise or movement he would make an effort to hold his breath to disguise the fact that someone may be listening to my every move. I would hear him coughing, clearing his throat, yawning. The worst by far, was the breathing. Not the normal breathing I would hear. But late at night I would hear heavy fast paced disturbing types of breathing.....This would happen every night. I would also be awoken constantly throughout the night to noises this man was making including I would also be awoken constantly throughout the night to noises this man was making.!including what hi concluded to be the man who hacked all my ring devices, snoring very loudly through my ring video doorbell.... every night. I don’t think he realized I was listening, Just like he was listening to me, almost 24 hours a day. I decided to check my video timeline and go over 24 hours of previous footage. to see what I caught when I left the live view running when I was not home. This is when I discovered that ALL my live footage , throughout the entire night while I was asleep, this hacker was listening. For more than 12 hours at a time!!!! He would even fall asleep in front of his computer which he used to hack my camera since I would leave it on overnight and every night I would hear loud snoring. I decided that this was enough and I called the company ring, and spoke to two supervisors and three customer service representatives. They couldn’t do anything to fix the issue. Nor could they offer any security protection or solutions. All they could offer was a 30% discount on another ring doorbell. I was so scared that someone was breaking into my home I had to get all the locks changed. I was sleep deprived, almost lost my job. It was hell. I’m glad i Decided to silently stand near my front door 20 minutes straight one night just to discover that all those creepy sounds and noises were coming from the doorbell and not someone who is stocking me which would have been so much worse. Whoever hacked my ring video doorbell hacked my Ring app that controls the doorbell and hacked my ring security system which protects my entire home. This eventually led to the hacker hacking ALL my electronic devices. My Apple Watch, two iPhones two laptops and of course my ring video doorbell and my entire security system. I even had money stolen out of my bank account. I had a very strong password and I would change it frequently. I don’t know how it happened but apparently from what I’ve researched, the ring video doorbell I purchase was a first generation model which lacked security features compared to the newer models which made it easier to be hacked. If you decide to get a Security camera, or any type of video monitoring system. make sure you change your passwords constantly, make sure you have a firewall protecting your Internet and you can even go further and purchase anti-hack software for your Internet and devices. I understand What this family went through and my heart goes out to them. Because I went through it too. for more than four months. And I thought I was going crazy. I was scared to death, wouldn’t it wouldn’t sleep, I was so unhealthy. Not to mention the stress of knowing that someone is listening to everything you say and do for more than 3 months. Your home is supposed to be your safe place. When that no longer applies, it changes everything, including your sanity. Keep your home safe. Protect your loved ones, and most importantly protect yourself. Stay safe everyone. The Internet can be a scary crazy place. -Alex f

On discord there is a bot that allows users to take usernames and passwords for different accounts on services such as Twitter, TH-cam, Discord, Hulu, Netflix, NordVPN, etc. BE CAREFUL.
You're giving zero insight into what that bot is. If that bot you described exists it would be looking at online password dumps, not just "taking usernames and passwords." If the bot is "taking usernames and passwords" then what you're describing is a phishing scheme and should be reported. If a bot looks at password dumps, the owner of whatever account should be responsible enough to invest in something like Firefox Monitor and change said password
Triston Caton I’m assuming it’s a username and password dump. A user bragged about obtaining a working NordVPN account with a complete and still active subscription.

I was outraged at Ring denying it at first, but it's the user's login and passwords. It might be the same for other hacked websites that they use so when used on Ring's login, they get access.
It's not going out of business anytime soon, it's owned by Amazon. Especially since people already signed away their privacy away to Apple, Google, Microsoft, and any tech company these days.
This isn't Ring's fault. People are using the same passwords everywhere.
Why put cameras inside your home to begin with. Privacy is being taken as soon as you do that because someone is viewing that footage whether it be the teenager being watched by his parent or a stranger on the internet. It's just not right.
Ring also gives your information to the government without your consent.

"PUT ME DOWN, PUT ME DOWN, I HAVE FEELINGS" - A great yet bad bad man
And this is why I don’t have cameras inside my house . Those ppl who tuned in are disgusting af , shame on u
Fuck off
We have feelings too
That is creepy, imagine if the hacker is watching the whole time without anyone realizing and continue to live normally. Security companies should look into this to prevent this from happening in the future.
Theres not much they can do.. There's not really much to look into..security companies know how its done..Anything with an internet connection can be hacked..Its up to the owner to prevent their cameras from being hacked.
or people shouldn't put cameras up in they house or on property to spy on nieghbors
I don't know why people even buy these. Forget hackers I'm worried about the government.
You should be. Once the video is uploaded to Amazon or any other third party's servers it's under their control to do with as they please and they can share it with any government agency they want.
That's hilarious. I don't understand how anyone could feel comfortable with cameras on them all day in their own house.
True tho the cctv camera should be outside the front door not inside.
When you really think about it, in the age of smart phones and devices, how much privacy do any of us have.
The people who have camera’s Inside there home’s just don’t Trust their spouse.....Period! No need for camera’s inside the home.
Spouse?? that has absolutely nothing to do with it.
Peace!
BK ALL DAY stuttering Stanley how about if someone has a vacation home and no wife and just wants to be able to pop in once in a while and make sure all
is well inside and out .

Sick individuals
Don’t know why people would want cameras inside the home. Outside I completely understand but inside where it’s your private space.
because you want to make sure it's protected from bad people and catch proof of their crimes
Mario M Cameras outside would catch them entering.
@@Price_719 I'm pretty sure we don't have to give you all scenarios where it's a good idea, but "catching them" outside...doesn't show them fully entering or what they're doing inside and if there was a terrible crime inside...you'd want details for the court case. Point being, I get what you're saying...but I also see why inside they're useful. Not everyone can have them outside (apartments, etc.). So there's different reasons.
There shouldn't be ones outside either, they point directly at ypur nieghbors home to take away they freedom and privacy

Pro Tip: Change your default password / set one.
Actual Pro Tip: don't reuse a password for Ring that you've commonly used elsewhere. Ring should have a new password you've never used before because it allows remote viewing of your home.
That is why I put a small piece of black electrical tape on both my front face & back face camera on my phone, and a small custom cloth cover on my webcam. How will these hackers see my home interior? An idea to pass along.
You DONT NEED CAMERA'S IN YOUR HOME! if you have these nice home's I garentee you have insurance and everything is replaceable except your PRIVACY!!!!

Ring won't get a dollar from me!
You think this is just a ring issue?
I'm with you hans
When I would log into my Ring app to check my previous video footage,
Or vide footage timeline.
I don’t think he realized I was listening,
Just like he was listening to me, almost 24 hours a day.
I understand
What this family went through and my heart goes out to them.

Can you please give some more details? My nephew plays online games and I think he uses discord to chat so would like to know more on this
You're giving zero insight into what that bot is.
