    One thing I'd like to know is how well the air con works. Much more important than what the horn sounds like or how fast it goes in reverse.

      Might be hard for them to test accurately between vehicles as the outside temp wouldn’t be consistent.
      I’m testing an MG4 from a dealer this weekend and it’s 34c here in Central Queensland at the moment. I’ll let you know if it’s ok 👍🏼

    3:34 I actually find this execution of switching off the car extremely good and practical. What if the driver has to get out of the car, like to use an ATM or buy something from a convenience store, but there are other people in the car who aren't getting out? With other cars that switch off once the driver gets out and walks away, it means the driver now has to fish the key fob out of a pocket/purse etc, and leave it with the passengers so that the car stays on.
    MG's execution is MUCH better because it mimics a regular ICE car where the driver can get out, and it stays running with the ac etc for passengers who remain inside. Locking the car from the outside reasonably indicates everyone is out of car, and thus it can shut off. Having a car auto-shut off as you walk away is the epitome of laziness and a horrid feature... I don't know why car journalists are supporting it and complaining when a car does not have it. PLEASE STOP

      Only worry then is how to do people locked in the car get out? There are no lock buttons inside the car so if the car locks with people inside the only answer I can find if they need to get out is to pop the back seats down, climb into the boot and find the secret latch together out.
      Sounds silly but this has happened to some people.

    A tyre puncture repair kit tutorial and exploration of the whole tyre changing/repairing scene now (given reduction in number of cars with full size spares) would be another video you could work on. Also puncture repair kit vs space saver vs run flat in terms of driving experience, cost etc. CarExpert's non-review videos are always great so looking forward to more!

    Excellent review. Youve covered pretty much all areas of possible use for the car including performance and subjective areas like quality, comfort and drive feel. Best of all you do it without being shouty or "ämusingly yobbish", I'm impressed, it was informative without being too dry and genuinely gave me a feel for the car. It's obvious you enjoy cars, that helps. Lastly, it's really good to see the old GMH Lang Lang proving grounds still being put to good use. As for the MG4 I'm in the process of leasing the 77kWh option. I need a hatch and the range as I shift a fair bit of equipment and materiels around on regular country runs, but I'm not interested in ponying up for a Model Y and the 3 just doesn't cut it with the recent "üpgrades" and a boot. Cheers.

    I own one of these cars and I love it, particularly the colour which is Volcano Orange. Looks so cool and funky, is the safest colour, highly recommended. I get much better consumption than the 22kw per 100km that this tester got. I am just in the middle of a big road trip and I have been getting 18.9kw per 100km. It has plenty of power and plenty of range and it charges quite quickly at 142kw.

The sales guy said it was because the heat is from the electronics not a heater and it sensed the day was already pretty warm so why bother. It’s should have had a heat pump. Either he is wrong or it’s wrong and this one didn’t have a heat pump. Either way, the MG4 LR was more than $10k above the Ora but MG is what I bought. The Ora was awesome around town

    the best version is the 64KW, that 77kw is way heavy and very lumpy in corners. also as you say to expensive, therefor the Xpower cost the same, and get some fun.. even you can drive with AWD in the winter, and fun that you are alone. much better with Xpower, also better wheels, better breaks, better setup chassis. but about 100km less between charge, and i don´t care in daily use about that, my version will be charged HOME every day so full 385km each day. not need 520km extra for 1 or 2 summer trips.

      @@MarkSmith-lu7ly yes, but the power from rear wheel drive is not very good. the 64kw model is much better to drive. 77kw has a lot of issue to get the power used on road, its unstable to drive special in rain. the xpower is NOT because of the 4wd and more balance, i have my Xpower in first SNOW this year, and that is the best car i ever driven in snow.. even the software and some of the functions sucks. and hopefull get update.

    I test drove 2 of these a little while back. Admittedly only the Excite spec. And the problem is with the low specs - you get cheap but missing too many features. In the top spec you pay too much and still don’t get what you should for the money.
    Did you notice that little screen behind the steering wheel wasn’t perpendicular to the driver but was angled to the left? I kept trying to bend and pull it to the right as the angle drove me bananas. It’s not adjustable in its position and in 2 different vehicles it’s not fitted straight in the car.
    The deal breaker though is the recirculating air button. I actually never found it. In ANY car there MUST be a switch or always available on every screen, no exceptions.
    I was stopped at the lights behind a Navara who when he drove off belched black smoke. In cases like that you need access to the recirc within 1-2 seconds. As it was the cabin filled with black exhaust and I nearly vomited.
    It’s UNACCEPTABLE in ANY car not to have a recirc button accessible within 1-2 seconds.
    You need it if driving on gravel and someone pulls out of a side road in front of you. In that case of diesel fumes or pollen, smoke, dust. It’s not a feature you can wait to fiddle round in a menu for access to. I loved the MG4 but this was a deal breaker. I’d never buy one.
    Oddly there is a fan on/off hardware button yet you never turn off the fan in a car - air should always be flowing either fresh or recirc (for a limited time). The fan itself should never be off.
    Lastly - no spare tyre is a further deal breaker in any modern car. Not good enough. Space saver would be fine.
    Also, for the price it didn’t have leather or faux leather seats. No heating or cooling in them either in the models I drove. The steering wheel you can get used to but round is better.
    For the price it also should have dual zone climate and vents in the rear.
    One thing I don’t like about your big bottle test in cars is that you always use a flexible bottle. Many of use use a hard double walled bottle when we travel not a cheap plastic Woolies one and these bottles WON’T fit in most cars as they won’t “squish”. That’s a major problem too.

      The screen is straight so I’m not sure what you mean (I own the excite 51). I’ve only heard of BYD Atto 3 screen not being straight. The recirc is only 2 button away on screen. Easily learnt and accessible once you’re familiar with the car.

    • @wigs1098
      @wigs1098 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    • @jerrymyahzcat
      @jerrymyahzcat 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@wigs1098 dunno. Most people here in Australia use double walled thermally insulated vacuum drink bottles. It’s a hot climate. They don’t fit in many cars.
      Both the cars I drove the little screen behind the wheel wasn’t straight left to right. The left edge was further forward than the right - I just couldn’t tolerate that kind of sloppy fit and finish. I tried to bend it into place but it wasn’t adjustable.

    The one thing these Chinese don’t do well is software. It really needs a lot of work compared to a Model 3.

WORST CAR I'VE OWNED.... 2 new lower control arms, radiator leaked and had to be towed on a flat bed truck, back seat could be moved horizontally, things started rattling. Tesla only has a 1 year warranty on rattles!!! True! 5 visits to the service centre which did nothing to fix the back seat issue. You could move it about 2cm left and right. Then the driver's seat would click on acceleration and click on deceleration. You could feel the seat move. Service centre did nothing. Windscreen wipers would not come on automatically until it was raining very hard. Phantom braking. I could never get the air vents on my face on a hot day. Dreadful. I paid $83K for it. What a rip-off. The only good thing was the motor and battery and supercharging. Oh, and great luggage space. But, rear seats were too upright and you can't get your feet under the seats in front. NEVER, EVER, EVER WILL I BUY ANOTHER TESLA. Then there's the ride quality...TOO HARD, TOO HARSH AND TOO TIRESOME. Seriously, a 5 year old Golf is better in every way. I know, I used to own one.
