I came from Florence Street in the Gorbals in Glasgow in the Sixties and seventies and when you look at some of the Buildings that could have been saved from demolition and renovated it really is a disgrace what the planners did, not just in the Gorbals but all over the City, just saying from Glasgow 😎🇬🇧
They practically ruined Glasgow pulling down beautiful buildings and putting up monstrosities.mostly they destroyed Glasgow's communities sending folk out to places like drumchapel and castlemilk, places with no character.
My Family,The Gallacher's stayed in Florence Street in the 50s/60s....up 2 closes side by side , nine families ,on my mother's side. My Dad's side ...9 families ,all surrounding there, Camden street, Scotland Street, Cumberland Street, Hospital Street...etc A childhood that the young today won't ever experience! It was great,...hard ,but it was real living!!!!............ Don't envy the young today!!!
Was just thinking that : our Architectural legacy feckin bulldozed for those high rise flats … like yourself I could greet at the wanton destruction : spotted some beautiful buildings that should have been saved. Awe well 😵💫🤷
The first pic is of the primary school my uncle (born 1936) attended: Abbottsford Place Primary School. Which has now, as part of their "takeover", been handed over to KORANIMALS by treacherous leftard politicians, & now has a koranimal name. As has another school I know of, which used to be "Bellahouston Academy". (At 1:50- two "comedy figures" at the bottom right.)
Abbotsford Primary: Now the Al Khalil College. Have you seen the state of the place? The playground is like a building site. The owners aren't maintaining the place. Surprise surprise!
WOW, what a trip down memory lane, my school and area where I grew up...thank you so much.!
Thanks for your upload 👍
Excellent,i'll look at more of your stuff now 👍

I was watching out for my dad's car in some of those photos. Lived in Govanhill so passed through these streets on a regular basis.
Fantastic.
