At 12:24 the large building on the left looks like the old Ritz Theater, I spent many times going to the movies there, in the 1950s, Preston my old home town. Cheers from Australia.
Yes, It was at one time. I only remember it being many night clubs in the 1990's onwards including Arrabella's, PR1 and Rumes to name a few. It finally became Mokai before closing in 2014. Apparently the building also suffered a fire in 2018. I forgot about that until I further researched it's history online. Thanks for watching all the way from down under. :)
Hope Pete Marquis disposed of all that rubble properly - he's already under a suspended sentence for improper disposal of a load of tyres. I was on Church Street about half an hour before this place went up. I was in the Twelve Tellers and passed it on the way to Aldi. I was also in town the day the Odeon went up, and for one of the St. Joseph's fires. It's true - if you're in Preston often enough, you will eventually see something burn down. Apparently, they wanted to keep the takeaway after demolishing the upper floors. I guess the place became structurally unsound after they knocked the fired damaged bits down. Reckon after Christmas the site will be resurfaced and it'll become another car park like most of the empty lots round there.
Interesting info. I managed to capture some of the Odeon burning down, I uploaded a video of it which can be found on my channel. Yes, a certain song by Joni Mitchell springs to mind!
Its very interesting 😊
Thanks Kayden.😎
I live in Preston Preston
