One of the best uke lessons ever. So rich: not just the chords but the reasons for finger placement, strumming up instead of down, analogies (like a door). Such a masterful teacher. Thank you!

Hi Bernadette, I used to play ukulele back when I was a kid but it got a bit left behind back in the 70s when my first electric guitar came along. I made my living for quite a few years playing guitar. Yesterday I turned 65 and my family gave me some money to treat myself on my birthday so I ordered a concert size ukulele and can't wait to have another go after all these years. This morning I found your channel and hit the subscribe button. I'm so looking forward to strumming along with you and posting some tunes over on my own channel as soon as I can. My ukulele should arrive sometime next week it will seem a long time to wait. Greetings from England. Rod.

I appreciate you! I got dumped in June and spent July and August practicing and watching your videos and it really helped me process things. Although I know I shouldn't sing this song to her

I love you, u think so much like me. When I teach the kids G7, they sometimes struggle getting their ring finger on the 2nd fret. So I tell them to swing their elbow out some, pivoting on the thumb. Then that ring finger stays on the 2nd fret.
AND… thank you for this beautiful cover by Neil Young. For a while now my father in law has been wanting me to learn Harvest Moon. He plays the harmonica. 😊 Aloha!

Thank you for showing the pkacement of thumb and the pivoting...I struggle with thumb placement and probably because of not pivoting. This tutorial will really help me to practice the placement, pivot, and working on muscle memory. Hopefully I can master this and make transitioning from the difficult chords in other songs easier.

Thank you for providing such a god method with the D riff. I like the chorus better with Em and A7, however. Your tutorial has been very helpful! Now if I can just coordinate all these chord changes 🫤

This is awesome, thank you 🙏🏼
I’m a moderate beginner in the sense that I know a handful of strumming patterns and chords, and can put some simple songs together, all with lots of repetition of course.
Current size is Concert. Started with soprano which worked for the simplest of chords when I was very new but realized it was way too small.
Question: I’m 6’1 and my hands are on the larger side and I have difficulties playing a clean Bm7 without using the bar technique. Is the answer more practice or a larger Uke? Anyone?

do you recommend having longer fingernails on the right hand for strumming? or should I just chop them on that hand too?

That thing about how your hand pivots....well it's very similar to a guitar technique known as the butterfly vibrato, except you make a slow motion chord charge recorded a 10,000 frames per second. Know what I mean? I play both guitar and ukulele. Guitar better. It's the ukelele chord shapes and the transition from a instrument I know well to a similar instrument which is almost difficult. But the chord shapes and name make very little sense and ukulele playing becomes very very confusing without allota of diagrams. Know what I mean? i dunno if anybody has any requests but I do have my own channel. I could upload a music video if someone ask nice. I know several songs by Neil Young.
