      You must not watch many yacht videos. I suggest you check out the ace motor yacht tour. Puts this bland loser to shame. This yacht looks like a business lobby and not a great business. A business clinging to a past that no longer exists nor should have.

    If I had the money, I would actually love to move the office to a yacht with the principal staff on board, and this is a beautiful balance between residential and professional sensibilities. The office aspect would not be so much to host meetings with clients, it would be to work with a small team and manage the work while living in a more pleasant setting (traveling). Meetings and such would still happen elsewhere or remotely as needed.

      I think this yacht wasn't used because..well it's a Benetti and by the time they worked out the numerous issues, flaws, creaks, squeaks, groans, teething issues and everything else, the owner wasn't allowed to use it anymore. This owner was not placed on the sanctions list yet, but I think has been now. Esysman covered this specific yacht a couple videos ago. If you ever do come into a position to own a yacht like this, I hope you don't get a Benetti. Lol. I haven't been a yachtie in a long time, but from my understanding, Benetti hasn't gotten any better since Azimut took them over. They were OK back when I was a deckhand, but they didn't have the greatest reputation. They make beautiful yachts and always cram lots of fashion and technology into them.. Talk to other captains, boat crew, and brokers before you buy a yacht. Especially boat crew.

    New build ships like this usually go through a couple years of teething problems so I don’t necessarily mind that it’s an unused 2020 provided they ironed out most of the issues. You don’t have to wait two years if you start from scratch and it does appear it’s being cared for by the builder and a competent crew. I am not a fan of the interior either but I suppose it looks better in person. That galley though, looks like they presented pictures of the pantry. A galley on a vessel of this size and price should be as impressive as the engine room.

  • @puffrooster
    @puffrooster 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The interior is clearly, deliberately, a minimalistic design to bring your attention to the art-work the initial owner obviously wanted his/her guests to see; an extraordinarily amount of space is dedicated for picture art, and there are not a few built-in glass display cases for exhibiting sculptures, or sea shells and stuff. I like the low-profile design and open space! What I don't understand is the galley?!
    I'm a tad short of capital at the moment, but if I could I would take the original internal design of the Benetti B.YOND 37, and put it inside this hull, which would turn the owners deck into a full guest salon and dining area. I'd delete the beach club and swimming pool, and I'd replace the CAT's with two MTU 20V 1163 M94's, increasing the power to 19,850 bhp!
    Nonetheless, due to time constraints and the absolutely ridiculous state of world affairs at the moment, I would not hesitate for a moment to purchase this vessel, as it is, simply because it is available for immediate delivery, and because the inside doesn't look like something from an Austin Powers film, or Prince video (may he rest in peace)! Of all the vessels in this category (range, speed, berths, cost, attainability), this yacht remains at the top of the list.
    Ns, due to time constraint

      I can't tell if you are being serious or not..? €72M or $75M USD. Even a Lurssen or Feadship wouldn't cost that much. Let me help you out in the yachting world.. The general rule of thumb is usually 1 million per meter. A used yacht under 10 years of age is 650-750k per meter. A yacht over 10 years is 400-500k per meter. Depending on where the yacht is built determines the price too. So Dutch and German boats always fetch higher prices. Italian boats are about the middle (Depending on who built it. Benetti doesn't have a great reputation), then Turkish boats used to be the lowest, but as more yacht builders are headed there and they mainly do a lot of explorer yachts, which is all the rage now, those prices are starting to climb. Yachts made of GRP also don't get the prices Yachts made of steel/aluminum or just all aluminum get. Yachts made in England have their own rule of thumb, and yachts made in Taiwan also have their own rules.

      @@clifbradley nice explanation! Do you know if the cost of maintenance is around 10% from the value of the yatch (per year)?

    • @clifbradley
      @clifbradley 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@gmantovani Short answer: This will be about 12-15% because it's a bigger, highly customized boat and not a production yacht. The longer answer is below if you want to read the breakdown.
      A Benetti will usually run you more, because A.) It has a lot of additional features and B.) It's a Benetti, but this will have most of her systems covered by a warranty.. Most of your usual '10%' costs are going to be related to crew salary, berthing, insurance, internet and then because this is a new boat you'll have some one time expenses like crew uniforms, a name board, customized creations like towels, robes, and maybe stemware and crockery, then chef's equipment like pots and pans, pillows and all that. So your first year you won't have maintenance costs but you'll have a lot of 'initial purchases' including, jet skis, tenders and other water toys so 1-5% or more will be spent on that stuff that's a 'one time purchase'. (Obviously you'll be buying that stuff again and updating it,, but you get what I mean). After that, I would say a boat in this size range will cost you about 12-15% per year. Boats this large have limited ports they can get into and that is always expensive, a boat this large with this many features requires more cleaning supplies and a bigger crew means more food. Crew salary is already added in towards the running costs but bigger boats, you can't go by that 10% because this is a custom build as opposed to a 'production' build. Also, this is a Benetti. These boats are notorious for having issues. So the first 6 months or more that you own it, you'll have technicians on board or have it back at port for things to get corrected and then after that, year after year you'll chase demons on that boat forever. By the time you get it just right, you'll sell it for a Dutch built yacht or Turkish one. I'm not saying all Benettis are bad, but unfortunately there are a lot of them out there and they don't have good reputations. That's why you rarely see Benetti boats away from major port cities. Seriously. You can ask any captain/yacht crew with experience or broker that's honest, they'll tell you the same. A boat this large almost has to go onto the charter fleet whenever it's not in use. Yes it's more wear on the boat, but in a Benetti's case, that's a good thing as it gets the bugs out quicker. But these boats (all boats this big) suck money like crazy so they are always running charters with summers in the med and winters in the carribean or around southern Mexico about 750 miles from Florida. Most brokers will always tell you, get the smallest boat you and your family can comfortably live on. The other rule of thumb is buying a yacht should never cost more than 10% of the owners net worth. 10% comes up a lot in yachting. Like all the areas of a boat, inside and out, each 'item' needing cleaning (i.e. stainless, brass, marble, teak, stainless kitchen, etc) comprises 10% of the budget for cleaning costs. 10% of the soft goods budgets goes to towels alone, but 30% goes to sheets and linens. It's just a convenient number that gets used a lot.

    • @clifbradley
      @clifbradley 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Desean Emery All of the Dutch amd German builders like Amels/Damen, Feadship, Oceanco, Lurssen, Hessen, Abeking and Rasmussen. English builders like Princess, Sunseeker and especially Fairline make gorgeous well put together yachts and they are expensive. I'm American so I hate to say we don't have good reputations, but Delta Marine and Trinity have put out some great yachts. Broward and Hargrave are OK. Palmer Johnson has an iffy reputation. GulfCraft/Majesty from Dubai has turned out some solid yachts. Turkey is cranking out explorer yachts like crazy, but they are relatively new to the scene. Turquoise and Bering are always booked solid. Absolute, Horizons, Ocean Alexander, Riviera and Grand Banks which build awesome super dependable yachts, Nordhavn, Fleming. They all have great reps. And even though I rag on Benetti, that's not to say the yacht is a rolling pile of garbage, I'm just saying for the amount of money paid, you should expect more in the way of fit and finish. But to a rich yacht owner that doesn't use the yacht a lot and rarely sees any of the issues because the crew just deals with them, it's fine. I've seen people on Azimuts that have all sorts of issues and they don't care. They are boating and out on the water and Azimut owners like Nordhavn owners have a big community. It's like people that buy Jeeps or BMW's. They are imperfect and have their flaws, but they love it. Nordhavn though are solid built, well put together so I don't mean it like that. And every boat will have issues. All of them. Any new boat will have teething issues. But some boats just always have issues that is brought on by poor workmanship. But if you has the money and you wanted a a super or mega yacht and wanted the best, you would want a Dutch or German built yacht. And you would pay for it. But you wouldn't need to worry about it. And when you wanted to sell to upgrade, downgrade or get out of yachting, your boat would sell fast and sometimes it doesn't even have to get listed because there are lists kept at the shipyards of people that want any of the boats coming up for sale. And when you buy a yacht, a rep from the shipyard and your broker is always talking to you or your Captain to ask about the boat and get feedback. It is not uncommon for a broker or factory rep to come aboard the yacht for a few days and travel with the owner to get feedback and schedule maintenance or start drawing up plans for a refit after a few years. Kind of an aside, but the Mangusta, ISA, and Leopard or Sunseeker Predator yachts are fast express cruisers. These boats are fast and meant to island hop. They are always, always fitted out in luxury. Wall tapestry from Hermes or Chanel. Marble from Greece or Portugal, leather from the same tannery as Ferrari and Rolls-Royce. These boats sell fast! They all have issues. They aren't quite. They always have things that break because they go fast...but they sell so fast. The same company that owns Benetti now owns Pershing which has taken over those style of boats. Once Pershing took over for that market....it died. They still build boats but the drive and passion for them isn't like it used to be. That says something.

      @theshitisreal @clifbradley Superyacht broker here - the price per meter 'rule' does not really apply. Although yachts of this size are highly customised and the spec/interior design alone can mean a delta of 5-10% of the final price, the main metric used in calculating a yacht's value is the gross tonnage (GT), a measurement of volume (not weight). This is because the length is only one parameter of 3, with internal volume being as much a function of the beam and the height (translation: ceiling heights + number of decks), as it is of length.
      This is why you can have a 64m Superyacht like m/y Attila or m/y Arience (both around 1600GT) with more volume than 85m m/y Bold (1551GT) for example.
      This is of course only one of the parameters considered in pricing, with the reputation / location of the shipyard being another important element as you correctly pointed out.
      Generally speaking you will see German/Dutch shipyards priced around 65-75k euro per GT, Italian shipyards around 40-55k per GT, Turkish shipyards much lower. This is due to many factors such as the cost of labour (much higher in Germany compared to Turkey for example), the level of engineering and the time required to build. You will find that northern European shipyards take longer to build a like for like yacht compared to Italy or Turkey.
      Finally, the level of customisation is another major element, with full custom projects requiring naval architecture / engineering from scratch being of course much more costly than Superyacht built of existing platforms/series (which a wide range of shipyards do).
      There are a multitude of factors to be considered, which is why fortunately people like me have a job :D

    Never used. Was she built on spec, or was she ordered by a Russian oligarch who can't pay for her?

    • @kokomo9764
      @kokomo9764 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      It is possible that a sanctioned Russian built it, but, more than likely, the huge increase in yacht prices of late, meant the owner could sell it for much more than it cost him.

      She was built for a Qatari billionaire. This yacht frequently gets confused, because of the name, with Alfa Nero. That yacht was built for the Russian oligarch, Andrei Guryev who is sanctioned. It is rumored that the owner took possession of the yacht and then decided he wanted a bigger yacht that was going up for sale soon so he immediately listed this one for sale. However, even at the reduced price he is asking for, it will take a while to sell. Plus, despite the size and it having 7 staterooms, they could have gotten the yacht classified as a private passenger ship. But the new owner can do that since I am sure this will wind up on the charter market. Or they'll use the 7th cabin as staff cabin and forego that.

      @growlkitty 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it's the timing?! The owner is possibly a Russian and if s/he goes out to sea with it, (they're) just going to take it away, anyway.

    • @secondaccounte1209
      @secondaccounte1209 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on the owners .. many meticulous owners prefer certain special deck booties because the oil from bare feet can destroy the teak over time.. materials may matter as well, but I've experienced both.

      @@secondaccounte1209 Very interesting. I’ve always seen people wearing socks and I know if it was my yacht, I would think bare feet from a guest is a little yucky especially a one time guest like the video guy.
