Ugh… how she BUILDS the song is so masterful. Patina is the heir to the great Audra MacDonald. She’s so consistently stellar. She was otherworldly as Leading Player in Pippin.
I loved this so much when I saw it - there was such a beautiful nuance in the way she left, the choice to have her magic return a bit to show she's changing back, but having her just simply leave rather than disappear. With the way she interpreted the character - as well as the way she was directed, leaving made her character feel so real and whole. There was this moment on the stairs not shown in the video where she turned around, looked at everyone, and then kept going. You could see all the grief in her that she didn't let slip once the rest of the show prior. One of the best reads on the witch I have ever seen, even if it was a bit unconventional.
Trash Prince I completely agree! She’s by far one of my favorite versions of the witch. It was such a different choice but, I really appreciated her interpretation of it! She just had this sense of grief that was realistic and just being completely done and giving up.

I like how each person sat as she referred to them. When she sang “stole a little gold” Jack sat and etc. I guess “broke a little vow” refers to Little Red because she strayed from the path. I thought she was talking about the baker for some reason. Also why did the baker sit when she sang “told a little lie” I thought she was singing about Cinderella pretending to a princess at the ball
In the original broke a little vow was about was about the bakers wife cheating on the baker. However, considering the choreography in this production it makes more sense to make it about Reds vow to her grandma. It’s not really something I agree with because Red was clearly a victim not a active participant with the wolf and that was always Stephen’s intent. His show was about lying, cheating, stealing, killing to get what you want but the next generation will learn and there are consequences to your decisions.
The videographer didn’t take the part where she walked away, stopping for a while to look at them once and left for good. They did change the witch’s story. Instead of dying or disappearing into the ground. They just made her do “aight’ I’m out”

@Parker930 she is suppose to at least disappear to not be seen again;reunited with her mother in the afterlife or just somewhere else but "away from this bunch" it's left to interpretation but she at least has to vanish; i very much like how it is depicted in the movie
@Parker930 well, let's say i don't dislike it but i liked that particular scene, but i always hated that they removed the mysterious man and "no more" ; no, by now my favorite version is the open air delacorte theater version

These wigs and costumes belong to another production it seems. Like Once Upon A Mattress or Snow White maybe. They are too cartooning for this show. Also the choreography that the remaining 4 do on the floor is inappropriate for this scene.

2 years later and it still doesn't look good.
This entire production felt half baked. The only standout was Sutton Foster who gave it her all.
