Bhai Harjinder Singh (b. 1958) is a well known ragi and is recognised by most Sikhs globally. Bhai sahib has been performing kirtan from a very young age and is self-taught. His mission is to unite all Sikhs worldwide to the Guru's path through his special style of Shabad kirtan. Bhai Harjinder Singh is the elder brother of Bhai Maninder Singh; they are both exceptional vocalist and very able harmonium player. Bhai Jatinder Singh used to play the Tabla with the jatha (group). For almost three decades the jatha has enlightened Guru-ki-sangat.
In 1975 Bhai Sahib was given a job by Sant Giani Kartar Singh Ji Khalsa Bhindranwale, where he stayed with their jatha and developed as a ragi. Bhai Sahib started his kirtan career in 1980 at Sri Nagar. He formed a jatha with his younger brother Bhai Maninder Singh and with Bhai Harnaam Singh, who is now huzuri ragi, Sri Harmander Sahib, on tabla. They performed at Sri Nagar for 3 years and then came to Ludhiana in 1983.
In Ludihana, they performed at Sabji Mandi Gurdwara. This was where the Sikh sangat started calling him "Sri Nagar" Wale. Although Bhai Sahib was not aware of this suffix to his name until one devoted Sikh printed their first business card with the name, “Bhai Harjinder Singh Sri Nagar Wale” . Bhai Sahib has over 100 albums consisting of over 600 Gurbani shabads, all with melodious music.
Bhai sahib's jatha play a mix of both classical raga and modern raga based tunes as a three-some where Bhai Harjinder Singh is the lead vocalist with support from his younger brother (who now has his own group/jatha). Their style is slow and mallow and very conducive to Gurbani kirtan and they have huge following throughout the world and especially in India, UK, Australia, and USA.
In Bhai Sahib's own words: "I am where I am today because of the Shabad Guru. I am merely a singer of the Guru's praises of the Guru's words; I am a humble servant of the Guru, if anyone is to be praised it is the Guru Granth and the Guru Panth. It is only by the great fortune blessed upon me by Guru Ji and the sangat that I am where I am today"
Bhai Maninder Singh now has his own jatha (group) and on a recent visit to the UK in June/July 2006, they both took part in an Atamras kirtan events where they performed as separate groups. Both brother share a very similar style of kirtan.
Bhai Sahib now lives at Ludihana and his jatha is now comprised of Bhai Gagandeep Singh (plays harmonium) and Bhai Gurinder pal Singh (plays tabla). As of 2011 Bhai Gagandeep has his own jatha and is now known as Bhai Gagandeep Singh Ganga Nagar Wale.
Baba Nand Singh ji (8 November 1870 - 29 August 1943) was born on Puranmashi night in the month of Katak (November) 1870 A.D. in the village of Sherpur, Ludhiana District, Punjab, India to Sardar Jai Singh, an artisan by profession and Mata Sada Kaur. He was a saintly person who attracted a considerable following during his lifetime
When questioned why he selected that spot, he replied, "In the process of devotion and love of Sri Guru Nanak Sahib if sleep overpowers, it is then better to fall into the well and die rather than live a life otherwise". Baba Nand Singh left for his heavenly abode on 29 August 1943.
Sant Sujan Singh Ji had blessed an infinite multitude of kalyugi devotees, through his keertan, bringing them closer to the path of truth and the world of Dhan Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Sant Sujan Singh was blessed with a melodious voice and an unending love for gurbani. Sant Sujan Singh Ji Maharaj was born on 25th of October 1911 in Bagh Village , Jhang District (Pakistan). On 1st jan 1970 he left for his eternal abode. Devotees still continue to listen the recordings of Maharaj ji's kirtan , and enjoy eternal presence through the kirtan.
Sant Samagam is the Asthan of Sant Sujan Singh Ji in Karol Bagh, New Delhi. Karol Bagh is a neighbourhood in Central Delhi district, Delhi, India. It is a mixed residential-cum-commercial neighbourhood known for its shopping streets, like the Ghaffar Market (Electronics and Mobile Market)and Ajmal Khan Road.
