Course Description: In this course, you will learn how to plan structure with respect to architectural planning and as per codal provisions of Indian Standard codes then you will learn how to use IS Codes to calculate the loads on the structure and modelling and analysis of building structure in computer software ETABS, and most importantly you will go through the design procedure of each type of structural element manually as well as with the help of MS Excel Sheets and at last how to detail your structural sections and preparation of drawings for Construction-Site Execution purpose.

I am completing the modeling of the whole structure. However, the facade is difficult to model. Should I ignore the facade at this stage of the structural design?
@@HoraceHingCheungPoon if it is difficult to model because of complex architecture you can just consider the appropriate loads and take care for application of wind loads in the software by suitable method ....

sir what could be the reason for not appearing the "rebar selection for column & beam" option in design- tab, any solution ?
Because in the newer version detailing is seperate by CSi detail software, earlier detailing is also can be done in same software so that option is not availble in newer versions above V16.

In other videos, some instructors showed that etabs self-calculate the super dead loads of slab and beams, so they didn’t apply those loads but, like you, applied the wall loads. Could you please clarify?
ETABS have a feature to consider selft wt. automatically in dead load pattern, so whatever you model w.r.t. material, as per that material's unit wt. and shape wrt geometry ETABS Calculate Self Wt. that we don't need to bother....
only the loads that we don't,t model that we should apply.
and so, floor finishes, wall load, live loads need to be applied...
This is very useful content which I found related to building structural design using etabs.

for architectural planning according to vastu you need to go through from very basics like sun-diagram to the every minute aspect of the structure according to its functions; for that you can search some best book from the disciple of architecture or some book of building drawing in civil engg. also...
& as you ask about Structural Planning for that you may need to understand all the aspects related to:
1. orientation of columns
2. locations for concrete (shear) walls
3. shape & geometry of structure w.r.t. time period
4. proper beam-column layout
5. mastery over pre-design section sizes by serviceability criteria
above the 1st four you can get it through "GSDMA Manual - Some Concepts of Earthquake Resistant Design" ebook freely available on web & for 5th point as mention above you do need to understand some of clauses of IS 456 & IS 13920 for preliminary section sizes
this things are very important to structural planning, although by the software you can optimized design.

I don't know about that or even here I will not promote piracy.... but for learning purpose you can download 30 days trial official version from CSi Website for non-commercial use....

Hi sir which laptop will be best for this all structural softwares
Laptop with SSD, 8GB RAM & i5 and equivalent peocessor is what i can suggest this are atleast minimum level of configuration for general performance for softwrae like ETABS, SAFE, STAAD, AutoCAD, etc...
If you wants to use softwate like SAP2000, Revit, etc. then you must need higher configurations than above....

learn the software thoroughly, only understanding of design concepts are important in software-based computer design....
today's modern age software works on finite element based which is more accurate than what we do in manual calculation by influence area method...
once you understand the whole process of design then go for design-optimization... which makes a difference in professional practice of structural engineer!

slab design videos are taken down because therein one mistake so...
Please restore it...the course will be incomplete than sir.
@@wkskdnam you may refer any good book as per IS 456-2000, and as per that design slabs its very easy to do...
in short you have to calculate ly/lx and total design load for your slab and as per slab position in layout (continuity) you have to determine co-efficient from IS Code and simply find the moment and provide steel area to resist the same...
