you should do some content on credit card end game. I started churning in 2012 and have had almost every card from sapphire reserve, 5 different amex platinums, venture x, citi prestige, starwood cards, etc. now ive reduced my cards down to 1 premium (venture x) and a bunch of downgraded no annual fee cards (freedom, amex everyday, citi double). not much churning nowadays except to reapply for sapphire / citi cards every 2 years or so when the bonuses re-activate. what do you do at the end of your credit card journey?
One note I'd add at 10:08 is that the capital one travel portal has price match, unlike the chase portal. I've used it several times and it's a great way to avoid the extra fees (one of the main reasons people want to avoid portals in the first place) while still getting the multipliers. Imo this makes the C1 portal way better than Chase's. Thank you for the great content!
I’ve had the card for 3 months now and have loved it. It worked out pretty nicely because I’ve had 3 connections in DFW in that span. Such an amazing lounge, probably my favorite in the states. Denver’s opening in March, hopefully IAD by end of q2. I’ve booked twice through the portal and requested price matches both times, it was quick and painless, great CS experience so far. Second try and approved! Love the card so far. Hope your referral worked. I also want to do add this. You mentioned that C1 is giving you $5 to keep the card on 4:57. But I think you are also earning 10x points when redeeming $300 travel credit through the portal. If we also include that, you are earning 3000 points which makes $30 which bring the total to $35 instead of $5. But regardless, it is a keeper card for sure! Thanks Sebby🙂
Just as a heads up to anyone looking to downgrade then upgrade like mentioned in 12:53. There's a chance that the request to upgrade back up to a Venture X might not be honored. Last year, I upgraded from the Venture card to the Venture X then downgraded to Venture One with the thought that I would reapply for the Venture X to get the signup bonus. I would have downgraded back to just my previous Venture but that downgrade path was not allowed. Eventually, I decided to apply for the CSR and get that sign up bonus instead so I tried to upgrade my Venture One back to a Venture X and was denied.

Capital One’s business strategy used to be sub prime. They have been working the last 10 years to Chang that. Last year was the Venture X release and then will be the launch of there concierge experience after acquiring Velocity black. They are absolutely making moves against AMEX.
Great video as always, but one thing I would add is that Capital One doesn't let you upgrade or downgrade as freely as other issuers. There usually has to be an offer for an upgrade or downgrade on your account before they'll let you change to a different card, so there's still a risk of having to cancel.

I think a good video to cover, especially for people who have never seen this side of the travel/rewards world, would be to show them the credit card game. What’s a good starter (chase) or what’s a good end game (amex) and everything in between. Never seen a video like that covering all the different set ups and when they’re ideal on your rewards journey.

I definitely want this card; but based on your info and what I've read elsewhere, I'm confident that I'd get declined if I applied right now. My credit score is good but everytime I've been denied a card the reason has always been "you've opened too many accounts recently" If you're a bonus hunter like me then your best bet is to go a couple years without any applications and hopefully then you'll have a decent chance at approval for this card. Already having another Capital One card seems to hurt your chances as well.
Card has been OK, kept it because of the zero effective annual fee, would have otherwise cancelled it. I tried to do a phone protection claim through them. The repair work was done by the same vendor that runs their insurance claims and they refused to cover it. I had the screen replaced, which they claimed was due to a manufacturers defect and not considered a repair. So even though on paper the benefits look good, they are actually garbage. That on top of no restaurants for Priority Pass any longer. I have Priority Pass through other cards, so it adds no value. Like I mentioned, only kept it around cause it didn't cost me anything.
I am 2 years into the credit card game at 20. I currently have 4 cards and plan to get the savor one this year. Prioritize capital one as I like the savor one+venture x combo. Will get the venture x after the savor one as I am someone early in the game.
Data point on approval odds: I was approved in 11/2021 despite never holding a balance and having 11 other cards open, although this could've been due to the fact that they were still in the initial ramp-up phase and wanted to grow the cardholder base.
@@AskSebby personally have 3 venture x cards. Yes, 3 through upgrades and offers directly from them. I thought it was odd but the travel credits alone with the 10k bonus every year for each card alone covers the cards. 395x3=$1185, $900 credit+30k everh year is 1200. So I’m getting paid $15 to keep the card. Although, I do spend 80-100k with them a year. Amex I spend 120k-130k
Additional data point: I got denied for the VentureX on 03/2023 for too many open revolving accounts. I have 6 cards including the VentureOne (my oldest open card). Opened 3 cards over the last two years. Will go for a second Chase card this year instead, and try for the VentureX next year!
Credit karma is pretty accurate with what they say your chances are. When I applied the first time and got rejected, credit karma said my chance of approval for the venture X was “fair.” Two months later credit karma said my chances were “very good,“ so I applied again and got instantly approved. I don’t understand it, but I’ll take it!
Yeah, tried to get my wife the venture X 3 times. A few months apart. Rejected every time. Even after calling for reconsideration. She did have three cards opened within the past two years though.
One thing is that the Citi double cash charges FX fees and the Amex BBP has a cap and isn’t a charge card. The C1 Venture and Spark are both no FX and are uncapped miles.
Wish this video had been released 24 hours ago and would have saved me getting denied. Another thing which is crazy is that cap1 pulls information from all three credit bureaus
Thanks Shelby for this video. I understand this video much better because you r speech is slower than other videos. I may be a minority demographic but keep in mind there are people in their 60s like myself who are watching your very valuable presentation. Also, I called capital one 2 days ago and the rep told me I can have up to 10 authorized users on Venture x card! I will call again to verify. Much blessings
Just applied for this card and got approved after seeing this video. Thanks for the link. Very easy process and no issues. Starting off with a 30K credit line. Not bad. Looking forward to the airport lounge access. I am 2 months in and have hit my bonus of 75K. So far the card has been great. I also received the travel credit and just proceed the Global Entry application for the $100 credit. So far so good. My concern is the very high rate I have of over 18 percent. So I have been paying this card off monthly. Excited to try the DFW lounge next week!
I just got approved as well with a 30k credit limit. My score was right at 800. It dropped to 797 after inquiry. I am ok with that. It came by FEDEX 2 days later.
Received the VX card last week, and now completed my minimum spend due to some large planned major purchases/services. Now already have 83000+ miles credited. My plan is to do a balance transfer to my new AMEX Blue Cash Everyday where I have an intro 0% for purchases and balance transfers. and gradually pay that off from there. I wish there wasn't a 3% transfer fee into Amex, but better than sitting on the VX at 2% per month for more than a month. VX is my 8th card, had low 800 scores from the bureaus, with about 13% utilization (paying those down), but also a current business card with Cap1. I do wonder if Cap1 will look at me sideways for any other card apps because I do move money quickly away from them to lower interest cards.
Great video, but I feel like you should've mentioned that it's "Capital one lounge" access (singular), and not "Capital one lounges" access (plural) since there is literally only 1 COL open lol
Biggest problem with this card is the $300 is practically useless to me having top status at Hilton and Hyatt. I would never book a room without status.
So what to do in the late-game? AXP, AXG, CSR, +8 other cards, 822, $200k. Any suggestions how to increase my odds for getting X approved? Thanks Sebby!
What is interesting to me is that I’m preapproved for the venture x but not for any of the excellent credit no annual fee c1 cards. I’m only preapproved for the good credit versions of the quicksilver and savorone, as well as the vanilla platinum. Typing this in March. For reference I applied for the CFF in feb, the bilt in Jan, and the savorone in Nov of last year.
I have been trying to transfer points but get stuck at 2 step verification, it say it can't verify my phone number when in fact it's my number forever. I get stuck at this step and customer service said nothing they can do. Anyone has this issue?
I have the freedom from chase then my first card was platinum then Walmart then the metal savor. Can I use the venture like a regular one to get the benefits from my understanding I can get a hotel room
what should i do if i have 6 cards? discover (first card), freedom flex, apple card, sapphire prefered, amazon prime card, and bilt card. I got denied for too many revolving credits.
Something to keep in mind with Capital One and referrals: if the person you refer currently has, or has ever had (even if it is cancelled) ANY Capital One credit product, they will *NOT* honor the referral. After 2 hours of extolling the virtues of VentureX to a friend who has for 20+ years refused to get a premium card and immediate approval, Capital One will not honor the referral bonus because she has a Quicksilver sitting in her desk drawer.
This is the card I would like to get, but I did open an AMEX recently and am going to wait... I do already have 7 open cards, over 800 score and do not miss payment or pay less than in full, so I still may not get approved
Rough day, went to the pre-approval tool and got a denial msg, due to velocity. Too many recent cards/inquiries. 7 cards, 4 in the last 8 months, Experian 760. I fly out of Denver, where they have a lounge, so I’d really like to get it. Any suggestions?
I have a 800 credit score - 165k + income ... I use capital one for my checkings and savings, but they always denied me for any card (venture, savor and bjs card) .. I ended up with Amex plat
Sadly my home airport lounge sucks (Pittsburgh). There is one Priority Pass one and it apparently sucks. The downside of not being in a bigger city or hub. I do have to transfer a lot through other cities which is probably where I'd get most benefit of this perk.
I recently got the Venture X for my travel to Turkey. They were horrendous to deal with. They messed up my return flight so bad, I ended up having to use $600 extra to book a separate ticket. I'm paying off the balance as we do every month and cancelling the card. Going to give one of the other cards a try.
@@kucukdede Cap One Travel purchased my ticket, confirmed the trip (I even had a ticket number!). On my return leg, while trying to check in, found out that they had bought an "open ticket" on THY and not confirmed the date. Flight was full and they could not get me home until 4 days later which wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for all the extra incurred costs of hotel/car etc... THY blamed Cap One, Cap One blamed THY, I got screwed in the middle. Cap One did not want to make any concessions to cover my extra costs for that time period which ended up being over $800. Live and learn.
Does anyone know how the points system works for the free American Express gold card you can get when you have a platinum card? I’m wondering if I get normal gold card rewards like 4x at restaurants? Or is it something different.
I am pretty sure that the authorized user gold card doesn't act as an Amex gold. It is an extension of your account given to someone else. So it is basically a platinum card in a different color, but without certain annual credits given to them.
I’m planning the Savor and Venture X my credit score is above 782 on all three bureau. Which should I get first? I only have a few cards open at the moment short term the Savor would be beneficial sooner and I plan 6 months later venture X. But what do you think?
I have a bank of america cash rewards, sams club credit card and the basic amex hilton card. I am thinking on getting the venture X and forgetting about it as my primary card. Is this the best primary and best card for non savy users that still would like to go once or twice on vacations per year?
Good day Sir Sebby & Thank You for yet another Super Informative video. Are the Capital One Venture X 2x points for groceries & “others” applicable when Overseas?

@@AskSebby lol now i got it approved, guess I may have needed at least a month or two since last inquiry. I wish I'd also snagged the SavorOne the same day so it wouldnt count as 2 hard pulls
I am looking to add both the Savor One and Venture X and get rid of my two current credit cards which are a JetBlue Master Card & Amazon Prime Visa. I do have balances that need to be paid on those two cards, but have an excellent credit score to be approved now for Venture X. Also want to add the Citi Custom Cash for gas eventually as well. How long in between should I apply for these three cards?
🧼🧼🧼 this was a very informative video Sebby! Capital One has never peaked my interest even in the beginning of my cc game. I've watched alot of videos on the Venture X cc; and although it's an amazing card it's not one I'm going to pick up (right now and/or ever). I'm in the AMEX eco currently running up my gold card points and going to get the platinum soon. Luckily, my cousin will be an authorized user (military) so that'll wave all my fee's. Since my gf is rebuilding/establishing credit I'm going to educate her on the Capital One ecosystem and maybe run a 2 player game in the future to maximize her travel points. Thanks again for dropping all the gems I look forward to more videos.
Currently have the Cap One Quicksilver, looking for an everyday use credit card that I can use for resorts and traveling. I was looking at the Delta Platinum Am Ex or the Chase Sapphire Preferred. We primarily fly American and Delta and stay at high end resorts. Any suggestions on a credit card?
I got the capital one venture x card only issue for me was that I took a trip in October of 2022 and I received my $300 credit in January of 2023. So far it’s cool hopefully when I go again on another trip it won’t take that long to give me my credit. I know as soon as I got approved about 2 weeks later that annual fee showed up. To be continued
Sebby, I opened my CSR account (under years of your guidance) about 6 months before this card was released. Is it worth owning both? Is it worth downgrading my CSR and switching to VentureX? I travel quite a bit and my job is remote.
I have both and like both. I live in Dallas and use the capital one lounge at DFW which is better than priority pass. Only thing better is centurion lounge. Depends on your situation ig. I like that capital one portal has price match which chase doesn’t offer.
🧼 hey Sebby, love the channel. You mentioned you can download three parts, I already have the quicksilver. Is upgrading your card common? If so, would it include closing the Quiksilver and opening the next option up.
so in regards to downgrading from capital one X to the non-fee cards, can you do it in the opposite direction to where you "upgrade" to the capital one venture X card again?
I just tried to upgrade my card venture one to venture X. They said I needed to wait till an offer to do so is available. Just a heads up. So if you have a venture one already, you would need to get the venture x as a separate card.
So what if I am late in the game and applied? They denied me per too many revolving accounts opened in 24mons (I’ve only had 3!). Any tips on getting approved?
I think I am going to get the Venture first then the X in a year or 2. Baby brother is also effectively free the first year with a Pre Check credit bigger than the AF and the same welcome bonus as the X.
Should I get the venture one first for the sign up bonus then get the venture x after? Dont need them at this time since I am not traveling much but want maximize the sign up bonuses
A little guidance needed if you don’t mind, I have a platinum Delta, American Express card, and I just opened a Amex aspire card and I’ve hit the bonus on that, but I’m thinking I need the American Express Gold card to complement the other two. In saying that, after watching your video, should I go for the venture X card?💪🥂🍾
Seb I’m only liking this video because you’re adding goku ssj references 😂. As soon as I complete my chase set up, I’m def moving to Venture X for sure.
In addition to the $300 travel credit, you would also get 5% back on airfare ($15) and 10% for hotel or rental car ($30). So you actually get $315 to $330 off the annual fee. Thus making the EAF of $65-80 a year.
Take a look at the prince of travel channel. He has 1-2 videos on starting US Credit with an initial Amex Card. Get a Canadian Amex Card Open A US Address Do Global Transfer for a US Amex Card My opinion is to wait 6 Months and then apply for a Capital One no fee card. Then wait 4 more months and apply for a card every 4 months with Comenity or Synchrony. Gather 4 more cards and chill for six months. Then you should be able to get TD Bank, CitiBank B. Of America and Chase And don’t forget to seek a credit limit increase each six months from your Amex Card!

I was just approved last week. I have 13 other cards, including three other Capital One cards.
@@kungfoochicken08 Have you been carrying a balance on those other CAP1 cards?
@@lewis20002000 I don’t carry any balances. I’ve got two Quicksilver cards and a Spark. I run about 20k in business expenses through Spark each month.
I don’t understand it, but I’ll take it!
how to use credit karma tell you ur chances?
Yeah, tried to get my wife the venture X 3 times. A few months apart. Rejected every time. Even after calling for reconsideration. She did have three cards opened within the past two years though.
One thing is that the Citi double cash charges FX fees and the Amex BBP has a cap and isn’t a charge card. The C1 Venture and Spark are both no FX and are uncapped miles.
Wish this video had been released 24 hours ago and would have saved me getting denied. Another thing which is crazy is that cap1 pulls information from all three credit bureaus
Yeah but they denied based on Equifax, go figure! Too many cards open in the last 24 months and too many credit/trade lines.
Thanks for the video, went applied and got approved for the card after watching this video
What was your score, did you ever have a late payment, and did you put that you kept a balance?
I just got approved as well with a 30k credit limit. My score was right at 800. It dropped to 797 after inquiry. I am ok with that. It came by FEDEX 2 days later.
I just got approved with 13 other cards, three other Capital One cards. My taxable income is $45k and they gave me a 15k limit 🤷
I got denied last year with 10 personal credit cards and 1 business
Buying a used Hertz car will get is 10x back, since Hertz is registered under car rental?
Biggest problem with this card is the $300 is practically useless to me having top status at Hilton and Hyatt. I would never book a room without status.
You can use it as a flight credit right?
@@evanperry44yes it works on flights
Use it at low tier Hyatt and hiltons. How much of a boost from status are you getting at those chains low level hotels? Just a thought.
I got my Chase Sapphire in October. How many months should I wait til I apply for the Venture X?
So what to do in the late-game? AXP, AXG, CSR, +8 other cards, 822, $200k. Any suggestions how to increase my odds for getting X approved? Thanks Sebby!
Exactly! Any news on an idea of what to do?
I have their Platinum and the Venture card and they still won’t approve me for a Venture X.
I have the freedom from chase then my first card was platinum then Walmart then the metal savor. Can I use the venture like a regular one to get the benefits from my understanding I can get a hotel room
What is the best card to travel with, meaning not having problems with using in different countries?
what should i do if i have 6 cards? discover (first card), freedom flex, apple card, sapphire prefered, amazon prime card, and bilt card. I got denied for too many revolving credits.
Thanks for outlining this. I've had no luck with being approved for the Citi premier. Seems that they're very inquiry sensitive.
Yeah, it's annoying. 😂
Great video. About the 300 travel flight credit....can i use it or book for my fmaily(friend)? Thx
Thanks for the information. I'm going to apply for this card in few months.
Awesome video man! Thank you so much 💯
If an airline is not on travel or the price options are limited and more expensive, what can you do?
Can you transfer you miles to an airline miles program? If so what airlines?
Does anyone know how the points system works for the free American Express gold card you can get when you have a platinum card? I’m wondering if I get normal gold card rewards like 4x at restaurants? Or is it something different.
I am pretty sure that the authorized user gold card doesn't act as an Amex gold. It is an extension of your account given to someone else. So it is basically a platinum card in a different color, but without certain annual credits given to them.
It’s another card that can be added for free if you have the plat, and gives 5x flights and global entry/tsa pre credits only
I’m planning the Savor and Venture X my credit score is above 782 on all three bureau.
Hi! what is minimum age that I can I add an authorized user.\?
Good day Sir Sebby & Thank You for yet another Super Informative video.
Are the Capital One Venture X 2x points for groceries & “others” applicable when Overseas?
Yes
Wish I'd seen this a while ago, I'm pretty much locked out of this card for the reasons you highlighted. I even wrote a letter to them debating the reasons for denial but no reply. Ugh.
:(
@@AskSebby lol now i got it approved, guess I may have needed at least a month or two since last inquiry. I wish I'd also snagged the SavorOne the same day so it wouldnt count as 2 hard pulls
Info at 6:30 is outdated: Unfortunately, access has been cut to Virgin Atlantic lounges
Nope, Capital One Venture X cardholders still retain access through the Partner Lounge Network. capitalonetravel.com/lounges/partner-lounge-network/
@@AskSebby Huh, guess they updated it. Thanks for the info!
For fun I did a pre approval on cap one. I got approved for a secured quicksilver 😂. I’ll stick with my Amex platinum.
Can i upgrade my savor one to a Savor?
I didn't even get approved for the "Venture". Is the venture just as hard to get as the X?
I have the Chase Trifecta and Amex Gold. Is it worth getting the Capital One Venture X and possibly the Savor One Rewards?
Yes. While you can. Hard to get CO cards in the "late game" vs. other issuers.
I would stay away from co-brands until you have the premium cards like Chase.
Did you use it for hotel or airfare?
@@mrkitty5581 for airfare
How can I book JetBlue mint with Capital one miles ?
Instant approval today for 30k. Excellent score, but less than perfect payment history and only one active, lower limit card.
If get the venture rewards or venture one card, do you think I would be able to upgrade to the VentureX card?
I just tried to upgrade my card venture one to venture X. They said I needed to wait till an offer to do so is available. Just a heads up. So if you have a venture one already, you would need to get the venture x as a separate card.
750+ credit score. $80k+ income. Did not get pre-approved for the ventureX. Hesitant to actually apply for it. 🤷♂️
In the exact situation. I might just send it and try my luck. Did you ever try?
@Shawnmell yes and was denied. Too many accounts. Too many new accounts.
@ damn that is frustrating to hear
So what if I am late in the game and applied? They denied me per too many revolving accounts opened in 24mons (I’ve only had 3!). Any tips on getting approved?
Just got approved for COne Venture X, thanks for the advice ! ! !
Congrats!!
So my authorized users can get the Hertz perk too?
Seb I’m only liking this video because you’re adding goku ssj references 😂. As soon as I complete my chase set up, I’m def moving to Venture X for sure.
I have 735 score and 200k salary and their saving and checking account, never got approved
In addition to the $300 travel credit, you would also get 5% back on airfare ($15) and 10% for hotel or rental car ($30). So you actually get $315 to $330 off the annual fee. Thus making the EAF of $65-80 a year.
I wish these cards were available in Canada.
Take a look at the prince of travel channel.
He has 1-2 videos on starting US Credit with an initial Amex Card.
Get a Canadian Amex Card
Open A US Address
Do Global Transfer for a US Amex Card
My opinion is to wait 6 Months and then apply for a Capital One no fee card.
Then wait 4 more months and apply for a card every 4 months with Comenity or Synchrony. Gather 4 more cards and chill for six months.
Then you should be able to get TD Bank, CitiBank B. Of America and Chase
And don’t forget to seek a credit limit increase each six months from your Amex Card!
