- I tried to run a country by asking ChatGPT regarding some controversial problems and wanted to see what it would respond. The results were actually shocking, believe it or not.
As a spoiler alert, ChatGPT crashed the economy of this fictional country, with it going against the rich people, increasing their taxes. Another interesting find is that the AI hinted towards exterminating humanity, and no, I’m not joking.

Thats like saying never let a human run a country if a baby cant. But yes, never let ANI systems run complex systems. We all know that a narrow system cannot perform on a general field. Trying to use ChatGPT must be done for the lols, as that is an LLM "chatbot". It cant do anything in real time. It would only remember a few pages of text, meaning it would suddently redo something it already have done. Its a comical concept. That will change as we get closer to real AGI, probably not before at least 2050.
Because corporations ain't good for society, just look at Boeing
In NationStates, I consider Libertarian to be the best choice to be combined with more left-wing policies to get a low tax high equality country.
But the AI actually chose Liberalism all along, and the video author misread and confused it for libertarian.
It’s mainly because chatGPT doesn’t see the economy stat, so it just doesn’t think about if anything is decreasing.
It did do just as well as some of the worst dictators running a place.
I was amazed at how bad it actually did
Tbf there were few proposals that very directly concerned employment and the economy, it decreased because it was a secondary effect for the policies.
Well pizza delivery is very important thing. Just imagine a place where the economy doing great but you have to wait days for your pizza arriving. Thats a dystopie.

I think cultural representation increased the food stat, because more people, inspired by the tv casts, decided to try their indigenous cuisine and that created more demand for diverse menus in restaurants.Some probably wrote a few cookbooks and chefs and ordinary people started buying more rare and less common ingredients. That’s my best guess wdyt

to me this looks like the game is biased against the kind of ideology chatgpt has, doesn't look like the fault of chatgpt
IMO, this game is purposefully made to have only bad options, so it is actually hard to build a good country.
Chatgpt didn't consider that, for example, economy is in shambles and bison protection can tip it over the edge. The fault for it is shared between maybe not giving enough feedback to ai, and gpt answering from the top of mind, not considering that every choice here has much deeper ramifications, than realistic
Dunno for sure, but it seems this game is biased towards centrism: if you answer according to any one ideology, you'll fail

1:42, that is biased economic output is not proportionally inverse to the welfare of most poor citizens. In fact, it is objectively an economic waste in terms of labor, capital, and consumption. Labor suffers both in quality and quantity because workers are less educated and face serious problems that cripple their economic production capabilities. Consumption is reduced to basic goods, which can cause easy recession or permanent stagnation. Capital is affected by both aforementioned points. Low consumption means low demand, making investment in capital more difficult or impossible and leading to bankruptcy. Labor problems lead to difficulties in maintaining the productivity of already invested capital and increase the risk of its expansion.
Dissapointed, tbh i expected chatgpt to create an AI controlled economy too, something which amazingly the soviet union had proposed and envisioned in the late 80's. Oh well

I don't think NationStates really accurately simulates the long term effects of decisions and things like how social progress creates the environment needed for economic progress (particularly in secondary and tertiary sectors, primary sector economies can pretty much succeed on slavery). I would say almost every decision it made was good and if implemented in a real country, so long as the government didn't get overthrown or elected out by the ruling class, would be beneficial for the country as a whole.

I am not surprised by chatgbt giving liberal answers. Its developers were quite litterally blue-haired liberals. However its funny how chatgpt decides to be libertarian but also anti-corporate.

To be fair, NationStates ain't exactly a serious country simulator, it's dev mostly created it for the lulz. While fun to mess around with it doesn't cover even a bit of complexity involved in running an actual state. Not to mention the bias against views the devs disagree with lmao.

ChatGPT uses the English internet data mainly, as it is the most widespread. That's why it is leaning towards left, fully towards the current ruling party in the USA.
And besides, NS site is somewhat infamous with promoting laissez-faire capitalism and does not accound for quick rapid expansion of planned economies. Basically, to roleplay a nation similar to China you need to grow your economy at any means in the beginning and making needed socialist policies much later.

To be fair there weren't that many issues, and none of them really gave the AI a chance to fix the economy.
Although, all of it's picks were pretty authoritarian. If it went on longer, the nation might do better. The lack of issues means one or more stats will be low no matter what.

For example: if you ask what political ideology is best chatgpt would always provide the ups and downs and doesnt explicitly decide.
