I got banned from a refuse site in Cambridge, it's on the road out of the city heading towards Waterbeach & Ely. I got 'told off' for throwing an item in to one of the big recycling skips rather than placing it there. I had full PPE on & was working in demolition at the time! I told the guy not to be so petty, a fight almost started & I got banned. I later learned from a girl who knows the guys that work there that whilst at work they're often out of their minds on Red Bull! They can consume up to 6 cans a day of Red Bull, Monster & other energy drinks & it gets them very hyped, bordering on violent. I was told that there's a culture of it within Cambridge City Council workers.

I take shite to my local tip,and rarely does anyone do any work, usually about 10 of them stood around talking, then the odd one or two go and check what electrical goods that they can salvage.
That's the routine at everyone I visited
@@ukmeetthetyrants I used to work at one of these sites, but in the actual recycling, as on a conveyor belt sorting cardboard, plastic tins etc, under cover yes, but still freezing in the winter. But the other staff who at the time directed the public to the correct skips etc, were in general just stood around doing SFA. However when we nipped out for a smoke, they usually go to the electrical skip, Hoovers tvs etc to see what they could salvage. The actual skip for those goods was beside their hut, so they waited to for the public getting rid of a tv , they would say that's alright we will deal with that. They took it into the hut and plugged it in etc if it worked they kept it for their kids room or to flog with their mates. All staff that took a disposed item off site had to pay a token pound, that was it. I personally got a very good hoover one time which lasted years using that system.
Really amazing the amount of things people throw away, not because it's broken or not working, they do it as they upgrade the tv etc. Opens your eyes to what staff do or what the public throw away.
My local tip down in South Wales watched a man in his 90's struggle too lift a hard drive out of his boot - The lazy fat working guy was sat in his booth only 2 metres away - So I stopped too help him - The local tip workers need a complete overhaul of their attitude and work ethics
@@barrieboy10 The one I worked in was in Swansea, they used to help people unload the stuff. I've moved on now, but I think since the coof, they weren't allowed to help during that period, and now have just continued.
