They can also be extremely nasty to family members when trying to place an aging adult in one I've been threatened by quite a few of them when trying to keep my mom in Long Term care after 3 stints in rehab As soon as you say you can't take care of your parent They begin a series of harassing phone calls The first call is to threaten to take guardianship of your assets The second call is demanding that you come in to sign to be financially responsible The third call if all else fails is to charge you with elder abandonment I actually had one come to my house to drive me to the bank to get her money
