    If you're in SoCal and you want to come by my shop to scan one of my shells, it'll help improve the accuracy tremendously. No disrespect intended to the work you have already done, it's magical and I have long been a fan of your work. Would love to see a full sized, accurate, symmetrical 89 body brought to market that cleans up all of the flaws that are found in todays fiberglass shells.

    I have a friend who drives one of two street legal 89s here in Australia, the one you have is definitely to small.
    Some of the shapes look OK, but as others have said, it's way to short.
    But it's still an awesome effort!

    I've been following for years and love your videos, I never realized how expensive foam is. people recommended basic pink EPS from homedepot but that stuff is expensive

    • @InspireCNC
      @InspireCNC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching. Yeah its very expensive now up to 50 dollars per sheet that's 2 inch thick.

      @@InspireCNC yeah it sucks, I really wanted to build a 3 axis router and build some bodywork but its just so expensive now

      That pink stuff is too volatile, it only has chemical resistance to water. hah! Can only be used with pure epoxy resin.

    Sweet! I'm sure you already know that the scale/dimensions/shape are pretty far off from a full size 89 batmobile

    Your work is awesome man! What is the work area of the CNC router you use for foam? I was thinking of getting the Longmill MK2, and was wondering if a machine like that would be able to do similar, large items [working area of 50″ x 34″ x 4.9″ (X/Y/Z)].

    hey buddy thanks for the great tut.
    so can u please tell me what if I were to make that model into plastic material .. does it include mold process or how it's done? basically, I am trying to make a small electric car model but I am stuck and the clay model stage and can't find a way to turn it into real plastic material :/

  • @g0d182

    How much does it typically cost (on like say a fairly complicated batmobile car) to make the fiberglass body assuming one already has the foam buck prior?

  • @thewhitetdn
    @thewhitetdn 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good golly I wish you were in Colorado. I'd love to collaborate with you on something. I'm the process of restoring a GS-MFG FRP Chopper System. Which is the tool used to take the styrofoam mould you have created, and convert it to a working fiberglass body. Picture the US's first Pagani or Koenigsegg replica kitcars....

    USE RECYCLED CARDBOARD INSTEAD, OR A SOFT CONCRETE MIX WITH RECYCLED EPS BEADS OR JUST A MIX OF WET RECYCLED CARDBOARD TO MAKE A PASTE WITH GLUE, IT WOULDN'T COST A DIME AND YO WONT WASTE TOXIC MATERIALS

    • @InspireCNC
      @InspireCNC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. If you can make these boards I would buy from u

    • @crapisnice
      @crapisnice 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@InspireCNC i suppose the simplest thing is taking big carboard enclosures from industrial bins in your area, then you cut the cross-sectional patterns of a smaller scale then you can apply soft concrete (with recycled eps beads you can shred easily) in the contours where you want to apply the milling tool. Also instead using a "2D" milling machine you can make a milling head of 100-200 watts that can go down 1m for example having also mini stepper motors using degrees instead axis distance with 360º or 180º degrees (duet wifi accepts degrees) and make a single side portion of the car in one step
