There is zero shame in loving to read!!! Books are just freaking amazing! Heaven will be a huge library full of all the book I would LOVE, comfy chairs, strong coffee, good friends, and I’ll never get sleepy!
Dude love your channel. My journey is similar to yours. I’ve always been in love with the idea of reading. Thanks for the recommendations. One small criticism. No gum, please.
yo!!! Discovered your channel just last week and I am so glad I did! Love your style, and definitely have a growing list of new books to check out because of your videos!!!
I have terrible ADHD and cannot focus on reading books, I wish so badly I had the focus. But I'm so thankful you've come to TH-cam so that I can live vicariously through you. Thank you.
Have you tried audiobooks? It got me back to reading again and I usually do something else at the same time cause my brain needs something else to do to be able to focus properly.
@@sadie608 I have. It definitely works better for me. Just have to carve out the time. Married with kids, don’t often get time alone to listen to books, but it’s important
I also have ADHD. I can't listen to audiobooks unless I'm playing a video game or busy doing something else. One thing that helps me read is listening to instrumental music with headphones on - Spotify has a lot of great playlists for reading, and they're not instrumental versions of popular songs, which helps me to not get distracted.
@@CameronForresterAs the other commenter said, I think audiobooks are a great tool. Even if you're just going to take a shower or go for a walk, take 10 minutes to listen to something. If I don't have free time, I listen to mine on the weekends while I'm working (I'm able to though) or when I shower or walking the dog, or even a quick read/listen before bed, etc. It can be hard to find time.
I haven’t read Circe yet. But I *think* I like the Odyssey more than the Iliad…I used to think that the Iliad would be more enjoyable to me than the Odyssey, but then I read the latter a couple years ago (or was it last year?) and found it to be really enjoyable too!
Im also just recently getting into reading more and really enjoying it. Really cool to hear your somewhat new to it as well I just assumed you’ve been reading for ages with the great content and recommendations you put out. Keep up the good work man 👍
My undergraduate degree was in Classics (Greek Bronze Age) and I absolutely loved Song of Achilles and Circe. I’m so here for the retelling of the Greek myths for a modern audience
I read a lot of horror, and think you might like Anda Kent. She is so funny and personable, and also reads extreme horror. Even if you don't read that sub-genre, her reviews are worth seeing. I have the Mistborn trilogy on the way, so excited to read them. You have a great channel! Vivian
Since you enjoyed Mistborn, you should read the Aurora Rising Saga by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. It's a finished trilogy, and it has similar characters with specialties who each perform a needed job in the group. ,
Stephen King is an autobuy author for me. Ive read everything except his Gun Slinger series. I love his new stuff, definitely a different feel than the classic horror he used to write. OG King is amazing. It’s too bad most of his movies are crap 😂. I’d love a series of The Stand.
👏👏👏 such great reads and as for Misery I swear a lot of people don’t give it enough credit it’s a fantastic read along with Pet Sematary. I have always read but what really got me into books was back in middle school I read the book Lord of the Flies such a great book and well made movie. I hope you make start filming that that gift book review early so you can upload it as soon as you give it out lol you have me so curious now.
The Ophidian by Daryl McKenzie is a really good read that you should check out. It stars a black protagonist who finds himself in a weird reality. Read the sample. You'll know right away if you'd like to read it. It doesn't have any reviews as of yet, but it is scary as Hell.
I love jurassic Park the book, it was so fantastic. I definitely think it was better than the movie. Circe was fantastic. Also, I'm digging the yt format. Books just need more time to talk about😄
I'm a bit late to the party, but since you loved Misery, you'd probably really like Finders Keepers by King, part of the Mr. Mercedes/Bill Hodges trilogy. I recently read it and WOW.
I’ve got 35 Stephen King books, read 15 so far (I started reading 3 years ago, similar to your “late start” - it’s never too late) and I’ve already got these two but haven’t read them yet, sooooo looking forward to both! And I’ve had “The Song od Achilles” on my “maybe-list” for years, couldn’t decide if I wanted to read it at all, so your recommendation is the kick I needed to persuade myself to finally get it (I’ll buy it tomorrow!), read it whenever… “Tender is the Flesh” was gory and creepy in an awesome way, too! I agree with whatever you say, always haha P.S. You’re not very good at hiding stuff, I got the title of the book you hesitated to show (The Memoirs of a Shy…), saw Pet Sematary sometime during the video, recognized the Achilles cover straight away… But nevermind that, awesome video anyway!! Loved it, keep it up 🙌🏻💖
I just started reading book by Stephen king and the first one I am currently reading is 11/22/63 . After this would definitely pick the stand and misery. Also I loved the fault in our stars. It wasss soooo good
I remember going to see Jurassic Park in theaters when it first came out when I was a kid. I remember just being blown away, it was probably the first movie to do that to me. I just read the book about 4 years ago, the book is a thousand times better than the movie. But they are two completely different things, and can be enjoyed as two completely different things.
Loved SOA when I read it too. It’s one of the few books to make me cry at the end 🥺 but weirdly I tried reading her other book Circe and didn’t like it at all and had to DNF it at 100ish pages after forcing myself to read that far 😂
Never be embarrassed about books you like! People like to shame, but shame on them!
No book shame here daddio
I love how chill he is
I am loving this new TH-cam thing where it's not like 2 minutes like TikTok. I really hope you keep this channel up! :):)
Hey thanks so much!! The plan is 2 videos a week!
That copy of The Stand is gorgeous! Also, I've found so many books that were absolute BANGERS on tiktok. I don't understand the hate. Loved this list!
You must watch the Misery movie if you haven't already. Absolutely nails the tension and Kathy Bates is incredible.
My favourite movie based on a Stephen King book. So sick. And that's my favourite SK's book, too.
“One toilet session” 😂
I know. I laughed, too.
There is zero shame in loving to read!!! Books are just freaking amazing! Heaven will be a huge library full of all the book I would LOVE, comfy chairs, strong coffee, good friends, and I’ll never get sleepy!
And never being uncomfortable in your comfy chairs!
I love the range of genres you read 😊
I think this is my 3rd or 4th of your videos I have watched, I loved hearing how you started reading ❤. Now I find out you are a fellow Canuck, 😀 👍👍
That edition of The Stand is so nice 😍 I’m starting the Mistborne series in January. Hope you’re feeling better!
Ooooo so excited for ya and I hope you love it as much as I did!
Dude!! The Mistborn trilogy is amazing! One of my favorite series ever!
Good luck finishing The Stand by the end of the year! I loveeee that edition of The Stand, honestly stunning

Pet Sematary was my first Stephen King book when I was probably way too young lol but I agree, an awesome intro to King's writing!
Tender is the Flesh was so good I’m picking it up in Spanish.

Nice list ! honestly I liked Circe much more than the Song of Achilles … both stellar though !

Raaandom thought while watching your video…. Is it me or do you have Mike Myers head hanging on your wall?
Love the book recommendations!
That's gotta be Michael Myers lmao. I didn't even notice it until I read your comment

Your description about tender is the flesh reminded me of this anime called promised Neverland. I recommended it (and it's short)
Would love to see your 2023 picks once the years over!🤩
Since you enjoyed Mistborn, you should read the Aurora Rising Saga by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. It's a finished trilogy, and it has similar characters with specialties who each perform a needed job in the group. ,
My first and only Stephen King's is Desperation and I absolutely loved it.. I definitely will continue reading his books. Thanks for the recs
💯
I’m in Calgary and I seen the play Misery. It was amazing. Look forward to reading the book.
Love love your TH-cam channel!
Picked up Misery because of your recs!

Ace video man as always. I was wondering where you got the hat from? Love the colour and the style
You “only” read 26 books last year? I read 12! Many of them at the last month of the year when I realized that it was almost 2023! 😅😂
I love jurassic Park the book, it was so fantastic. I definitely think it was better than the movie.
Circe was fantastic.

The song of Achilles came out well before book tok so I exclude it from that department of madness personally lol 😅

Oh man you’re going to love misery and PS, two of my favourites of all time. Also yeah I am brutal at hiding hahah

If you lived in Colorado, you can wear the same clothes but have 320 plus sunny, blue sky days. Even with feet of snow!
Have you read any Clive Barker like Imajica or Weaveworld?
Have you read Christine? That's my no.1 SK book and I honestly think you'd love it
Love you sooooo much!
Have you read Joe Hill? He's Stephen King's son and has a similar style.
The way I knew you were Canadian before you even said you were😭canadians are the best
Tender is the flesh is a great book.
do you think you'll ever get into splatterpunk books?
you should watch "fresh" it seems like a horror you might enjoy
The audiobook of Pet Sematary is so good! It’s narrated by Michael C. Hall (Dexter).
Wait! He does! It's no wonder I liked his voice and narration but didn't know where I'd heard it from.
❤️❤️
I read it in one toilet session 😂
What's an DNF?
It means "did not finish"
@@nikkiirwin7342 thanks!
Tender is the flesh is fucking amazing
