    Best knife invented. Sleeps in the pocket, solves almost all everyday challenges. Brilliant. So slim and light. :)

    When I was working in an office I carried a classic on my key chain & a Bantam in my pocket as my Gentleman's knife for about 30 years till I decided to retire it & use a Pioneer or a Cadet in my pocket. I had a Leatherman in my desk at work so I never bothered to carry a full size multi-layer knife in my pocket & kept to the Bantam for my daily journey to & from work & for dinner out in the evening. My Bantam was one of the old Ecoline models in red with no scale tools, after retiring it I replaced the worn out red scales with new black ones with the toothpick & tweezer in it & right now it sits in my collection in good condition with its new shiny black scales & re-sharpened & re-oiled knife & multi tool opener / screwdriver. I recommend the Bantam as a minimalist urban carry Gentleman's knife that is cheaper than the equivalent sized Cadet.

    I just switched over from carrying an Executive to the Bantam as an addition to a frame/liner lock I also carry. I purchased two at the same time, the second is for my daughter's boyfriend who normally doesn't carry a pocket knife. I thought this would be the perfect gateway knife to introduce him to usability of having a knife with you at all times

    I have my grandmother's Waiter for everday use and delved into Victorinox looking for a good option with a saw (leaning toward the Hiker Wood), but I also fell in love with the Alox Bantam along the way. I'm considering getting one for my brother and myself on his birthday and maybe even for our other siblings when they each turn 18. Truly a beautiful and useful tool!

    I still have a bantam red cellidor model i used through auto school. Handles are a bit beat up and the blade is scratched and has been sharpened several times, but still functions perfectly. I retired it because it has the old tang stamp, and now carry a sportsman model.

    The bantam alox is such a good edc knife for daily use, it’s crazy. Everything you need for use at home or at work, without the bulk of something like a leatherman squirt. It fits in every suit pocket, snd is all you need. I daily it, and only when i switch to casual i replace it with said squirt…

    I'm absolutely getting a bantam. I think it'll go along with my rambler perfectly. I think everyone should carry a multitool, even if it's a single layer thick. Even if you're not gonna use it. Preparedness is important

    The Bantam is one of my favorite SAKs. Only Classic SDs outnumber them (but that balance will tip in due time). It's a great size for carry, yet packs a lot of utility into its slim frame. A great video on a most excellent SAK!

  • @timsummers870
    @timsummers870 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I’ve realized that gifting sb a SAK isn’t enough to make them carry it. They just throw them in some drawer and lose them. But people really become into SAKs when they see you save the day while they’re struggling with sth they can’t otherwise do with barehands.

    Tengo tres, una Alox. Otra Red celidor. Y otra de Línea económica, de los 90", originalmente venía con las cachas Red, con los años se estropearon y la vestí con cachas de ciervo, quedó muy bonita.
    Esas son mi EDC diario, al cual complemento con las prácticas tijeras de una Classic de 58mm.

    Supposedly the cap lifter on the bantam is supposed to also work as a can opener which is why it looks different from the standard Victorinox cap lifter. I have not seen any reports on how well it works. I have also heard that the rather strange angle at the corner of the flat head driver is supposed to fit a Phillips screw head but again I have not seen this tested.

  • @duanebledsoe7566

    For me the Bantam has too few tools to serve as my only EDC knife. But, I think the Bantam ALOX would make a really fun knife for use at work for anyone opening a lot of boxes. I’d modify the combo tool to have a sharpened edge along the inside to cut boxes and straps with, maybe split the plastic on clamshell packages, and leave the protrusion on it that first made it a canopener to use as a pivot point or edge guide to control the depth of cut. Save the blade for other uses, including cutting fruit in the break room. It’s so small and flat that it would be easy to carry, and hide from management that requires safety cutters only, and being all metal it would be uber durable. Being stainless steel and aluminum, just wash it off when it gets dirty. Kinda makes me wish I’d known about the Bantam back in my Walmart days.

    In addition to the blade the Bantam has a combination tool (see Victorinox specifications) - A cap lifter, flathead screwdriver, wire stripper and a can opener......and yes it is possible to open a can withis tool. If you look the tool is slightly offset to enable it to just about function as a can opener. I have tried it and it is possible but not ideal.

      The advantage with the alox one at least is that it is super slim at just 6mm, half the thickness of the Waiter (12mm) The celidor bantam is more or less the same at 11mm. So the alox Bantam is ideal for formal dress like a suit, it can be slipped into a pocket or wallet and is hardly noticeable. Also some people may find the alox a little more stylish or elegant. For what it's worth I like both celidor and alox and have a number of both.
