This is one of my favourite Swiss army knives, simple and elegant for reasonable price. I just wish it had a pen slot but apparently Swiss waiters have perfect memory.

This is the ideal pocket knife.
I have benchmades, spydercos, crkts, gerbers, s&w etc. but tbh this is the knife I won't leave the house without.
It cuts like a dream, it's super easy to sharpen, it has 10 functions in a super compact package and is super people friendly (no one will have a heart attack when you pull it out).

Honestly, the best thing Victorinox could do with this model is add the actual plus scales to it to add a pen, because most waiters that I have seen in my life still use a notepad for taking orders. Making the change to add a pen slot and pen would make this an amazing tool for waiters or even a perfect knife to carry to weddings or other special occasions where you may need a bottle opener/corkscrew/knife/pen.

You can modify the 84 mm scales to hold a pen. There are YT videos showing how to do it.

What he doesn't want you to know, the caplifter is wirestripper as well but more to this, it works perfectly as a can opener. Don't bother that it is not sharp, it works perfectly.
And yes, as a ph and slot screwdriver as well. So, why does he hide it from you? What was he thinking?

To open wine "properly" you're supposed to have a knife to cut the foil before removing the cork. I didn't know this until my mid-to-late 20s.

  • @magicmacify

Thx, the waiter is an ideal knife and fits a lot of my needs. I am, indeed, curios if a tourist would be a better option for me, as it simply offers a second blade, so I could seperate between cutting wood and food. I am looking for an absolute EDC for opening packages, cutting apples for the Kids or sometimes a little stick - and an additional knife for going in the woods, camping, vacationing (scissor would be needed) that is just a good multitool.

The Waiter is brilliant. Light and compact and thin. My only grumpiness is that the keychain ring holder will eat through the pocket in your pants, and makes you drop the knife at the most strange moment, aka sitting on the bicycle downhill, running up a flight of stairs, or loading your car boot with boxes
