- In "Retribution" Bulman, Willis and Bennett are back in London working with Detective Chief Suprintendent Lambie as a new team called The Inter City Squad with cart blanche to work with any police force in the country.
The team’s first case is a dangerous one involving a gang supplying firearms for various high grade robberies. The ante is upped when someone is murdered.
With new titles and a new jazz tinged version of the theme tune, this third season is also all shot on film as opposed to the video/film mix of seasons 1 and 2.
This is the season where Strangers really steps up a gear, the formation of the Inter City Squad allowing the team full reign over the whole country.
There is a nice appearance from the team’s old Northern boss, Singer, now Detective Inspector, paying a quick visit and establishing himself as the team’s northern contact. Also an appearance from a pre- Auf Wiedersehen Pet Kevin Whateley, attempting quite a dodgy upperclass accent. Shirley Stelfox makes her second appearance in the series, she also appeared in season one’s second episode Duty Roster as another blonde who casts her eyes at Bulman. The pair were long time partners in real life too.

Very nice episode. Thank you.
Hysterical to see and hear Kevin Whately with a posh southern accent.
hysterical or ridiculous!!!!
I know I keep talking about the intro, but I felt that the cat was doing so well to help promote it, until Donnie and that mousetrap showed up.
I really love the intro part to this. It beats the ones from the first two series (though I do like them as well) and the one from LWT's Poirot. Seeing this, one gets the feeling that one is about to watch a mystery show, even though this was a police TV drama.
I'd only vaguely remembered these, but knew I'd enjoyed them back in the day. They have great character and atmosphere + humour!
Oh yeah. Not like today.
Best low-key intro:copied by "Law&Order",USA :)
@rochcarothers-ts3jx Ha ha! One of my favorite TV shows!

Man, oh man, oh man! Finally, we have film!!!!!
Even the intro with the cat and Donnie scaring us with that grim look of his (I prefer Fiona's dazzling smile instead) is dope.
Dig that 16mm grain!
Love classic British television.
Interesting episode, even Keven Whatley had lost his jordie accent replacing it with a faux London one. Nice try! 🙂
Yeah, it just didn't seem right.
@@FoogouFilms it wasn't right!!!
20:50. John Steed called -- he wants his bowler back. Doesn't clash with those ridiculous gloves.
Talking of Steed, Charlie Gimbert does remind me of him a little bit.
Sergeant Lewis and Charlie Gimbert again, what?
Neville Hope and Charlie Gimbert, surely
A sexy Kevin Whately. Nothing like "Lewis" !!
Some early rolling stones what a shame

13:42 This show foretold of the NCA.
9:05. No handcuffs? Grief.
19:23. Mr. Pink Floyd ought to be glad it's 1980. Let him try that in 2024!
