Lol you have a life I dream of having. I like being outside home. I love being in the air. I like being alone and also being surrounded by people. Hopefully I can get my PPL soon so I can start my journey to a flying lifestyle
Full marks for keeping fit and healthy Garrett. I'm a retired airline pilot in the UK who made it to 65 years in the profession. I'm in my 70s now and fitter than when I was 35 years when I was 3 stone overweight and generally a couch potato! I decided to change things and never looked back since. In fact the biggest benefit of exercise I believe is mental which is also an important element of fitness for pilots. One of the biggest motivations for me was realising that if I didn't do something I would be suffering health issues in my 60s and beyond, let alone being able to pass the pilot medical. I go running twice a week and have done a local half marathon for at least ten years. I also have a bicycle when I'm out on every day.
Love your videos which bring back many memories of my flying days.
@@D4nielH It has had its ups and downs (no pun intended) but I wouldn't have changed any of it. I consider myself privileged to have lived through some of the best years of the profession.

Hi Garrett! I love the passion which you have for flying and your profession. I am a recently retired teacher of Spanish (46 years in the classroom). I lasted that long because I loved going to school each day and thrived on the ups and downs and the many challenges which I had to face and overcome daily to meet the needs of my students, most recently the COVID situation. May you never lose your passion! You are a great role model, not only for prospective members of the aviation industry, but for young people in general. You have worked very hard to accomplish your position in the aviation industry. Unfortunately many young people today want immediate gratification and are not willing to work hard and follow the steps necessary for long time success. Thank you for this very informative video. It's very interesting to hear about the physical that the pilots need to go through. It's good to exercise especially because of the long sitting periods you do when flying. Exercise and stretching helps with those hamstrings and hip flexors that shortens due to sitting long periods of time. Shortened hamstrings cause back pain for example. And with keeping that heart healthy. Thanks for the videos.

Garrett, love your videos! One thing I've noticed is your transitions. Most are jump cuts, which is optimal for vlogs. When you put your palm to the camera as a transition, the next shot should come out of black or from your palm for the transition to flow seamlessly. Hope that helps your edits and keep pumping out these videos!

I share your thought about waking up too early in the morning is too much. Yes, getting senior later on improves the bidding of those flight schedules. I hear you!!! As I got senior on the cabin side, I would bid for afternoon and evening check-in schedules on my trips. Unless if the trips were international then I was ok with 10am or 11am check-ins

I think they are...called the Red Eye....hehe I think everyone plans for them...and live using the farmers almanac. I also think they are cost prohibitive but then again, you might find a sale and special for those early morning flights.
