I got a 20kg (44pound) one for hiking yesterday. This is about 1/3 of my body weight, and feels pretty much perfect for getting some decent exercise from a 5km hike/walk (im not an athlete, and i have only used it once). Heavy enough that it gave good exercise, and light enough that i was able to enjoy the nice weather and scenery along the way.
Yeah weight is a major game changer I bought a carrier with front and back plates it probably weighs 25 lb and it halved the distance I can run if I keep the same pace as I did before it's pretty rough
Glad I found this video. After getting out the military, I’m looking to get back into some old style workouts but with more caution and injury prevention. I was running for miles with an 85 lbs weight vest for years and my body was not too happy with that
With a vest like a tone fitness vest or aduro sport vest I recommend putting a belt around it...like the type of belt you would normally put around your waist. Doing so keeps my vest snug around me when I am doing exercises such as squat jumps and push-ups. The belt works very welll and is easy to put on and take off. Try it out
Thank you for this video, I was about to purchase a fixed weight of 20lb but I wanted to do some research first and I found in a website that the best weight is 10% of your weight, so it just makes sense, because you said that a 12 lb is normally good enough, I weigh around 140lb so I think I'll just buy the fixed of 12lb. Thank you again 😃
Thank you for the great video. Yes we are all struggling trying to figure out how to replace our workout gyms. I am only looking for a vest for pullups and pushups. the $60 vest sounds the best to me and the ability to adjust the weight sounds great too. Now trying to find them is the trick!
I’m not sure what it is called but Walmart has become the best place to find exercise equipment. Strange but true. I go by every few days to see what they have. Things move quickly but I get lucky from time to time. Benches, Olympic weight set, pull up bars, dumbbells, etc..
The best distributes the weight though whereas the backpack will just be on the back, that’s what I am thinking so may be putting weights into a bag is just not the same?
I normally do my training carrying a 50lb Wreck Bag. The inconvenience is that it’s not heavy enough and it’s a hassle as I have to constantly hold onto it or balance it on my shoulders.
I just got a 16 lb one and it fits perfect. I’m a lean 168. It’s not weight adjustable though, but I think because so it fits more snug. Maybe I’ll upgrade to the 20 lb version in 6 months. 25 or more lbs would be overkill unless I plan on only doing pushups in it.
How do I use vest and is it a good idea to use it everyday? Is it better to ise it on hitt workout days or should I use it on lifting days too and also on low intensity workout/rest days??

If I was doing squats and deadlifts with 30 pounds in my hands before surgery, would a 30 pound weight vest work or should I get a 20 pound one. I’m not sure if the weight feels lighter or heavier when worn as a vest. And I do have weak shoulders because I’ve had hand issues for a while which inhibited my working my upper body but my legs are used to 30 pounds.

I would need to test though to give my real thoughts.
Great question. I don't have any experience with boxing, however, I could see how a lighter vest could help as you bounce around. Take it off and you'd feel like you could fly around the ring.
