My family and I lived here for a few months back in 1999. We lived in 'Old Beams' .. a 600yr of Tudor House that we rented at the time.
You can see it at the 14:00 mark. It's the Tudor Building there, nestled in between the brick houses.
As you can see, it was literally across the road from the Abbey and we spent most days over there. The town was just gorgeous and everyone was friendly and kind.
The little walkways, graveyards, history and just medieval feel to the entire place was something I'll never ever forget till the day I die.
I read Salem's Lot for the first time right up there in my little attic bedroom at midnight. I could see out in the darkness into the midst and fog as it drifted around the Abbey. If a vampire had knocked on my window, I would not have been shocked 😂 It was the perfect terrifying and memorable experience to read it for the first time there. I have so many happy memories there but will keep them for myself . I hope one day I can return to Tewkesbury and Old Beams ❤

What a lovely walk through a beautiful village! Busyness has kept me from experiencing a virtual walk for a couple of weeks now (though I did take a lengthy real one yesterday), but I enjoyed resuming today with this one. Tewksbury Abbey is massive, and is stunningly beautiful in its architecture. I can only begin to imagine how glorious the interior must be….truly awe inspiring, I would guess. How amazing to think that this dates back to Medieval times! Whenever I am around these old buildings (and anything “old” that I have been at in the US is probably “young” to UK folks), I just feel a sense of quiet wonder, thinking about the people from so long ago who lived, worked, and worshiped in these churches and other structures….people who led such different lives from ours but yet had the same thoughts, feelings, hopes, etc.
I love the feeling of visiting these places! The walk along the river was beautiful, with mirror-perfect reflections! What an interesting looking building that one was, with an addition built up on posts over the water! Going down the quiet path through the field at that time of day was very peaceful. This walk was very enjoyable!
How are you coming along in developing your series of walks with the new format? I hope that you are making headway, and are pleased with how things are going. : )

Hi Janet. It is really good to hear from you. Now that the day here in the UK is drawing to a close, I am tucked up in bed but this time it is my goal / mission to actually finish my reply without falling asleep this time :).
Tewkesbury Abbey is an absolute architectural masterpiece! Yes, the inside is just as amazing as is the residential organ too. One of the things that I have taken away from all the walks the past couple of years is just how impressive churches and abbeys are…they really blow my mind! It does seem strange tho that there is an abbey in what would of been a tiny town hundreds of years ago 🤔
So, I have finally been out gathering footage (was waiting for a rainy night - then we had two in a row :)). Just need to get a few pieces of music sorted and then we will be good to go again. From a timeline standpoint I will have to keep the compositions fairly basic otherwise I could end up spending to much time and even months on just one piece. I do worry tho, that this new format may not be quite so appealing to you as it is a far cry and a world away from the bright & cheerful Cotswolds content that you have become so accustomed and used to seeing and now moving forward the focus will be on towns and cities late at night. But having said that I do recall that you enjoy a night walk in the rain ☔️ now and again :).
All the very best to you both.

Congrats, you did make the reply without falling asleep! (I have sometimes tried to send a text to a friend when I was very drowsy and abed for the night, and then realized in the morning that I had typed and sent something that was either unintelligible or very silly, and had to send a follow up text, explaining). : /
Yes, I do enjoy nighttime rain walks, and we do live in a town- a small one, but nevertheless a town. Therefore, I think I shall enjoy your new format of nighttime rain walks in towns/cities- though I am glad that you are leaving up the morning Cotswold/country walks, as I will also still go back to watch them. It’s nice to have variety in things, just as differing types of music can all be enjoyed. Speaking of music, I will look forward to hearing your compositions- something new for you to present. I’m sure it will be good! :) 🎶

Stunning architecture and lovely gardens. I bet the wisteria walk is beautiful when in flower. Never been there. Missed a real treat.

Thanks Lyn. Yes, it is a lovely when in flower, makes for great photo opportunities :). I could do with revisiting Tewkesbury at some point as my filming skills were not up to much when I filmed this (not that they are a whole lot better now of course but slowly improving :)). All the best to you.

What do all of the flags on the buildings mean?

Hi Diane. I believe they represent knights that fought in battle but please don’t quote me on this :) Thanks. OAAW
