I don't know if it was a characteristic of the P51 but at certain AOA, some aircraft are prone to lose horizontal stab authority causing loss of control. That's why some plane have their stab on top of the rudder innthe T configuration. This effect could be exacerbated by the slower speeds with full flaps
I don't recall this happening to the P51 in dcs but i didn't fly it often, either.
Ahh yeah that could be it. Messerschmitt put theirs up high now that I think about. Thanks for the pointer!
also has to do with the airflow being blocked from the full flaps deflecting the air downward
@@colbybarnes1547 makes complete sense.. the more flaps deployed the faster the elevator effectiveness just cuts out.
@@colbybarnes1547 yeah, that's what I said
Super video, I've followed your instructions for swapping out the sounds and works a treat, though I've opted to swap with the flyingiron spit sounds. When I get the AH Hurricane I'll use theirs as it sounds great on the reviews. What software do you use for the cinematic flyby shots?
Thanks a bunch for the feedback. Good to hear that it worked out for you. The Spit is the next one outside of the Mustang that works for sure.
Ive binded my peripherals to the drone camera and skydolly has been my free flight recorder for quite awhile. The in-game recorder is good as well if you need to record the same shots (camera angle/position) I have to admit it’s sometimes as hard as flying 😂 seems like demand is up for cinematic tutorials :)
@@EricTFDC Thanks vor the tutorial. It worked for me, though I switched to the Spit sounds. The only thing I´m missing is the Backfire-sound. Any Idea?
regards
@@Mapex00 no worries 🫶🏽 might have to do with specific engine model cfg. Flying irons aircraft are on a different level 😂
Pretty sure it pays tribute to the Brave Men who flew the Mustang in Combat.
how do you get the asobo sound file?
Long File Path.
C:\Users\(insertusernamehere)\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Official\OneStore\asobo-aircraft-p51d-reno-common
NOTE this will only work if you also have at the least the Asobo Reno P51..
Otherwise, if you have the Flying Iron Spitfire swapping its sounds with AH's P51 is the second best thing, since they're similar engines.
@@EricTFDC nothing shows up in the OneStore file is it beacasue im playing through the xbox app
@@ItsNotGrapes mmm… so MSFS has been purchased through the Xbox app I assume?
I just dug through a few forums to see if I could find out where the folder could be and it’s quite complicated. I’ll do a little more research and see if I can send you a link pointing you in the right direction.
www.reddit.com/r/MicrosoftFlightSim/comments/sdmzpl/does_msfs_downloaded_off_of_xbox_pc_have_a/
Maybe this might help with the search. let me know if things get rolling! I unfortunately am not familiar as my game copy is through MSstore
Are the other sound files part of a separate mod?
Yes sir. At the end of the video you can see how putting different sounds into the aircraft folder works (pc only unfortunately)
@@EricTFDC Roger, if you don’t mind my asking where is this mod found?
@@yorberttwert7898
1. well the MSFS layout generator tool is here github.com/HughesMDflyer4/MSFSLayoutGenerator don’t know if possible to copy and paste that in the comments. I’ll put it in the description as well.
2. Use any “aftermarket” aircraft sound and soundai file. Copy and paste those two into the aircraft of your choice ahp51v1.3 in this example. But make sure you remove the original files and put them somewhere safe.
Drag and drop the layout.json file of the p51 over the layout generator (like in the video) and that’s it.
@@EricTFDC thank you very much sir
@@yorberttwert7898 of course 👌🏽
