It's because we view apocalyptic events as something that just wipes out everything, here it's the lack of people but the infrastructure is running as if everything is unchanged, with trains and buses, electric, water, gas all still going like nothing has happened

It must of cost a lot of money and energy to keep the underground partially in service with almost nobody using it at the moment. It’s completely surreal seeing it in this deserted state. It almost looks like an abandoned space ship like in the Alien movies.
TFL are already financially struggling as it is and coronavirus just made it worse for them. I feel very sorry for them!
It's not true. That's why you people will always be sheep's that don't know better. Before all this happened all trains were packed pretty much every day morning and evening. So when you were nose to nose like sardines, that's tfl making their money so do you think now they are losing??? Get real.

@@thetrainspotter7 It's Cystic Fibrosis, Beno's mentioned it on previous videos, it's a serious respiratory condition, a friend of mine's daughter has it and she's currently on 12wk full isolation due to what's going on. He's a fearless fellow but if we want to see more videos in the future it's best he stays safe....although we wouldn't have got such an awesome video as this if he had...hmmmm....

@@jamesdavison1786 You have CF? How much improvement have you had from Orkambi? For me, I don't get chest infections any more. Every week a chest infection seems to start, then it disappears again on its own after 2 days. I am less tired, but not as much as I had hopped. I had not improvements on pancreas deficiency. Surprisingly I haven't had an improvement in lung function despite feeling a lot better.

I traveled from California to visit the UK a couple years ago and riding the Underground was one of the highlights while in London. I'm creeped out to see the stark contrast here with nobody around. Thanks for filming this rare sight in these strange times.
Not really sure what time it's being filmed either but it's very strange seeing it so empty especially busy stations like green park and Canary wharf

For people who have never been at any of these tube stations you will be amazed how busy it is it's unreal, the trains are jam packed, platforms full, take a look on Google, then come back here and watch the vid again.
Cockney born and bred and it pains to see stations roads stores closed and empty.

Thank you Ben for showing my birthtown at its most deserted. Never in my life have I seen where I grew up be quiet, unnerving and bugging me out. It’s as if everyone has been put in a deep sleep. This virus is most definitely a nightmare. Stay safe in the jungle mate.
As a Londoner I can’t tell you how eerie this is, but I love it. It’s so strange to see the Underground so deserted. I passed through Piccadilly Circus a few weeks ago around 7pm and it was like a ghost town. Who knows, we may never experience anything like this ever again. Thanks for making this video.
It’s just so weird that Zone 1is normally extremely busy and now it’s pretty much abandoned. Crazy!

Two years on, it seems very strange to see such empty stations. These last two weeks, I was in Germany, and things were about as close to pre-Covid as possible. Although the Garching-Forschungszentrum U Bahn station about 11 AM on a Sunday makes a person think it's like Covid times in Central London. Then again, on Sunday the 12th February 2023, everyone was in central Munich for the Fasching parade. Odeonsplatz and Marienplatz stations were almost to the brim that day.

As eerie as it is to see a global city like London so deserted, it is also encouraging to see Londoners taking the government's social distancing and isolation guidelines so seriously. Just keep this up for some time and the virus will undoubtedly run its course as in all other pandemics and everyone can resume their normal routines.

This after a three hour journey up to London on South West Trains where I was the only passenger the whole time on a nine carriage train.

This is insane! On my adventure in the tube piccadilly line, I've encountered trains where I literally could not fit on then to have the doors close in my face and have to wait another 4 or so minutes.
I’m baffled! I live in Sweden, and I thought our system was empty, holy shit!
It reminds me of Seattle,Washington(The heart of the Coronavirus scare in the USA). I live in the Seattle suburb of Edmonds, a few miles north of the location of the first case in the US at the LifeCare Center. I live not more than 10 blocks from a major highway, and I usually can here traffic on it from where I live, right now, nothing. It's really scary and eerie.

Only 2 or 3 weeks ago this was full of people with poor hygiene standards coughing and spluttering all over the place. Every man and his uncle in London seemed to be out and about with symptoms of the virus.
Before I started working from home, it was amazing how many people were on the train with a continuous cough. Wasn't long before I had one.

I've got some footage of the DLR from February and yes - the coughs are there. Dry ones to. I feel very fortunate to have my health now, though I'm glad I went to London that time in Feb as it's unlikely I'll be going again for some time.

A great opportunity to appreciate the station architecture. Reminds me of an experience I had in college. I attended a large university that was divided into 3 campuses. The day before Thanksgiving my freshman year, the school was considered open, but all the classes were cancelled. So I took the opportunity to visit each of the campuses and explore the vintage facilities. Nobody around, just the sounds of steam pipes and mechanical equipment as I'm walking through these old corridors - absolute bliss.
When I was a child I used to design imaginary metro systems (actually I still do this now when I am bored), and they always had no people on them. Lots of people about spoils the enjoyment of epic trains.

One thing Ive always wanted to know about those stations that have platform screens...what if the driver overshoots the platform even just by a fraction...the doors won’t align up....the drivers must be very skilled to get the train to stop in the exact right place!
Before the days of Seltrack the drivers used to approach the stopping point very slowly. Nowadays seltrack is pretty efficient.
The seltrack system is more efficient stopping at the peds.
As an ex-Jubilee Line driver (before ATO), it was always enjoyable to stop exactly on the mark to line all the doors up. After doing it many times per day, it didn't take long to get good at it. If a driver overshot the mark you would inform the controller of your mishap and be told to continue to the next station and apologise to your passengers (unless you were the first or last train of the day in which case there were procedures for driving backwards). Now it's all automatic with ATO - much more boring I would imagine.
Creepy, as a regular on the tube I find this very eery. Shows how much life has changed..

Beno has made a social document, a London under quarantine but with transport still running, deserted stations, passages, platforms, concourses and streets, a rare chance to see the architecture and design of the stations as well. One day we will look back at this video, it will be one of the few visual reminders of this time. TfL has now run out of money and 7000 staff have disappeared.
The stations here look empty but I saw news articles about overcrowding still happening at rush hour during the lockdown. Probaly only that busy during rush hour but still I find it quite bizzare that overcrowding has still happened during lockdown.

Being able to roam around freely in an empty underground has always been one of my dreams. Especially because my city has so few lines. I always fancied an experience like this.

This is so creepy to watch. I study aboard in the Fall of 2019 in London and used the tube all the time where it was packed sometimes. This just doesnt seem right.
As a Londoner, this is really weird and eerie to see. I cannot believe how quiet and deserted the tube really is at the moment. And in a weird way, it's kind of making me miss the tube lol and I kind of can't wait to use it again lol

The last time I went up to London was on 20 March 2020. I avoided the London Boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark, and will avoid them again when I next go back up to London because those are among the worst affected areas.

Everything over here has been dropped to at least half-frequency. I've never seen timetables so sparse!

The London Underground station has almost no people in there and the subways/stations are more cleaner and hygienic during this epidemic than the disgusting subway trains and stations that are not even clean enough, has more homeless living in there dirtying everywhere and is still has people riding on the trains going to work in New York City.

Well it seems that London is absolutely comply to social distancing,but New York City is the worst,no wonder why it’s still surging,but here in London there’s no longer a surge because people are complying no matter what,but nyc subway is completely empty trains very late at night,rush hours the train is 15% full on the 3 busiest lines,here in London 10%.
