  • Have you ever wondered if you can use or own car for driving lessons or to take on a driving test?
Maybe your driving instructor is not available for your driving test - what are the options.
If you have your own car or access to a friends vehicle (that is over 21 and been driving for 3 or more years) then you may be able to use their car.
    Here are the must haves:
    1. Valid Motor Insurance / Learner Insurance.
    2. Valid MOT.
    3. Roadworthy Vehicle - No Warning Lights on Dashboard.
    4. Road Legal tyres, No Cuts or buldges and minimum tread depth of 1.6mm.
    5. Rear View mirror for the instructor / examiner.
    6. L-plate front and rear positioned on the drivers side and the correct size.
    7. UK Provisional Driving Licence.
If using your own vehicle for driving lessons with your driving instructor, your driving instructor is likely to charge the lesson rate that you would be paying to use their tuition vehicle.
Another key point is that your driving instructor would want to assess your driving in the safety of their tuition vehicle before allowing lessons in your own vehicle.
Thank You for watching and best of luck with your driving lessons and your driving test.
