    Hi, I just came across by your channel and I love this video. I had a brain stroke some years ago and it's been so hard to accept that sometimes I have to plan and time-block according to my "invisible disabilities" (fatigue, nausea, vertigo). Thank you for your wisdom and I'm glad to see other neurodivergent people teaching about productivity!

    K.I.S.S. I can't see spending money on a notebook that I can make myself. I print my planner on half letter paper (5.5 x 8.5", one cut), punch it and put it in a notebook. On bad days, I pull "today's" page and carry just that page with me. I bought a ream of very nice letter size paper (500 sheets x 2) for $15 and that lasts more than 3 years. Printing my pages keeps my ink fresh and I can change the layout whenever I want. Last year it was 1 day at a glance and this year it's 2 pages per glance. That's how I keep it simple. 💖🌞🌵😷

    thank you for your review it was really helpful. I love Cal’s idea with fixing your blocks 4 times - that’s the thing that makes day time blocking a lot easier.

    21:55 re: "if there's too much going on in my calendar, I'll lose track of important things"
    That's why Google calendar has multiple calendars. You could make one for appointments, one for "the perfect" day, etc. and you can have all your calendars open at once or only have one open at a time. You can have one to share with your dance partner, that shows certain blocks as "busy" or "available", so he can schedule rehearsals around your schedule without actually bothering you. You can have one for your life partner who can see some events and others that are "busy".
    I'd look at electronic calendars again, but truthfully, your whiteboard method would be my preference as there are times that I'm too tired to open my laptop to check my schedule.
    Sending lots of love 💖 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵. Take care of yourself and each other 😷. Ps. You are so lucky to be able to dance.

    I have been using a system like this that i designed for myself. I never found one type of planner that worked for me. I recommend every one try out all types of pages and find out what works for them. I help people by designing pages that work for their life. but it is totally do able for any one it will just take longer.. Keep rocking out your life!!!

    Keep it simple. I have the perfectionism monster too! THANK YOU for pointing out that it might be easier to actually use something less luxurious. I have a beautiful planner with nice heavy, wonderful to feel, bright white paper and I just don't use it enough or effectively and part of the reason for that is the beauty of the planner. Thank you for making me aware of myself!!!

    I liked your review. I learned about similar techniques to avoid distraction in the past. First from a writing teacher who told me to write what my critical voice was saying about my writing on the side of the paper or a separate page, so that I could get on with writing the story. Then in the pomodoro technique, writing your distractions in one of the more advanced techniques. I like his focus on revising your schedule as a normal part of the day and I think that appeals to me greatly, since with a chronic illness I am very often interrupted by symptoms I can’t ignore.

      Yes, being willing to reschedule the day as the day goes has been incredibly valuable for me as well. Just today, for example, I had a terrible night's sleep and ended up in bed until noon. And then I spent almost two hours booting up for the day. It ended up shifting everything back in my day, but I still ended up having a pretty productive and fulfilling day.

    I’m so happy I came across your channel. I have two mental illnesses and a menagerie of other health issues and your insight is so incredibly helpful. I can relate so so much to what you say. It’s nice knowing I’m not alone. I also can’t get up much before 9 or 10 most days, for example.

    Have you thought of laminating one of the planner pages and writing on that with whiteboard markers on the days when you know there are going to be lots of changes? No guilt for rubbing stuff out and swapping it around! l loved your review. This planner would really suit me.

      Glad you found my review helpful! I'm getting closer to filling up the whole planner and have discovered that a digital solution would probably be best for me. I'm going to try to build one into my Notion planner.

    Thoughts on applying the same system on a simple index card? Maybe notes/tasks on one side and the hours with columns for revision on the other? Might be a tight squeeze. Assuming the appropriate lines/hours could somehow be printed on an index card it would be frictionless.

    • @CassieWinter
      @CassieWinter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's an interesting idea! I've decided to go a digital route instead though, to help reduce friction between me and calendar blocking.

      Thanks! The notebook I use is from Moleskine, has a soft cover, and came in a pack of 3. I think this is them. (I bought them so long ago I'm not sure if this is still the same product or not, but it looks right.) us.moleskine.com/en/cahier-journal-brown/p0408

    i like the idea of time blocking but i plan my day the day of, and figure out what to do as i go along. if i set up a schedule ahead of time i get stuck in trying to do it exactly as i wrote it. and then i get stressed out. i just keep track of what im supposed to do and do itin the order i feel like and i only use schedule for my appointments. i use the moleskine so far. i feel like kinda similar to the cal newport one without the time blocking part and it lasts me a year. but everything has pros and cons. i also like plan and simple planners and notebooks. except for journaling . i like a certain one because its so small. but yet nice and adorable.

    Hello! Do you think this planner is fountain pen friendly?

    • @CassieWinter
      @CassieWinter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ooh, that's an interesting question. I'm not sure. It was fairly heavy paper. But I'm not sure if the grain would cause fountain pen ink to bleed or not. And unfortunately I've already finished up my notebook and recycled it, so I can't check for you.

      @S I enjoyed using Passion Planner and Panda Planner. But ended up switching to digital to meet my needs. May I ask why being a screen addict makes you hesitant to go digital?

    • @CassieWinter
      @CassieWinter  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @S Gotcha. So when you say you're extremely disorganized, what things are most important for you to get organized? Time? Tasks? Projects? Etc.?

    • @CassieWinter
      @CassieWinter  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @S I'm sorry you're experiencing this. I had similar struggles for almost ten years, which is why I do what I do now. Helping people like you start doing the things they want to be doing (without getting burned out) is so rewarding.
      I'm concerned a planner would only be a bandaid for you. Yes it would help, but on its own I'm afraid it might only add to your stress.
      Without knowing more, my first instinct is to recommend you focus on habit building in conjunction with using a planner. I'm actually covering this topic in next week's video because it's one I see holding people back a lot.

    Hey Cassie, just found your channel and been really enjoying your videos and getting lots of value out of them! I just wanted to leave a critique though - I find the loudness of the breathing sounds in your videos really uncomfortable and irritating. It’s not about you breathing - please don’t stop breathing haha - but something to do with the microphone placement. It’s so close it feels almost ASMR like in an uncomfortable distracting way. An idea is to try a different mic placement, or if you’re wearing it close to yourself, then maybe look into getting a “de-breath” type of audio plugin to apply to the voice track during editing to help automatically quiet down the breathing. I just personally hate ASMR and find it activates my nervous system, and I don’t think I’m the only one. Otherwise, your content is excellent and filling a niche that desperately needs creators like you. Thank you for all you do!
