Laughter is healing and best way to deal sensitive matters is to allow satire bloom without getting offended. You cannot please everyone and there's always people who get offended.
The way the directors chose to play the relationship between Charlie and his kids was what kept this movie emotionally centered. The Farrelly Brothers have always been funny, but their ability to give their romps a 'soul' with simple stuff like that make them that much better, and is the reason their comedies hold up over time where so many other don't. Also, this is probably the most over-the-top funny Jim Carrey ever was.

I recommed Rango. It's a animated movie with Jonny Depp. I'm not crazy about the extra bit they added to the end of on streaming but it's still good. It's pretty much a western. I promise you will love it.

FYI: in the beginning of the movie when Jim Carey says "kisses" and his sons kiss him, that was unscripted and totally improvised and surprised the other actors. Luckily the 'sons' were quick to follow the improv and together they made it a fantastic heart warming underpinning point of the movie.
