- Every shot of my front 9 round at Cross Creek Golf Course in Dallas, Oregon.
Ever have one of those rounds where you feel like you are generally striking the ball well, but you just aren't scoring? Yeah, that's this round. At least the front 9.
6:20am (Friday before work)
Greens plugged and sanded within the last week
Fairways waterlogged from a week of steady rain
Zero warm-up (this is the way)
20 handicap range rat with high hopes and expectations...

I haven't seen a golf course parking lot that empty since pre-covid days. Very rare to have a solo round these days. Those short putts were killer on this round 😮
The short putts were 100% mental error. I wasn't cleaning the ball off and you can see the thick black line of sand around the ball on some of those short putts. It would pull the ball hard to one side. I should have learned on the first hole, but nah, i GoT tHiS. Attempting to punch out of the hay with a 6 iron... multiple times, was another costly mental error. That's a PW shot at most just about every time.
Otherwise, it really did feel like I was hitting the ball well on full shots after I got warmed up. Oh well. I'm editing the back 9 now and will post in a day or two. After hole 10, I started scoring much better.
I've driven past this course multiple times on the way to Lincoln City and always want to play it. Now I really want to!! Also, it's so satisfying getting to play a full round by yourself.
It may not look like much from the hwy, but it is definitely worth the stop. The track is fun and the owners/staff are fantastic. It’s a better way to break up a drive to LC than stopping at Spirit Mtn.
Solo golf is the best thing there is! Cheers!
I LOVE Cross Creek, need to get back there.
Great course, great staff. I don't play it more than maybe twice per year, but every time I do I tell myself I need to get out there more often than that.
Gotta love the fresh morning vibes! Man that yellow pollen would have ruined me
I edited out the sneezing! The Willamette Valley is hell on earth for anyone with pollen allergies.
A lot of us cant help but nerd out on birds 😉
Annual corp drift boat trip today on the McKenzie above Leaburg: 5 osprey, 3 flickers, 2 kingfishers, countless mergansers, common of course, some hoser geese, and a bunch of other winged riff raff.
Tough front nine, but I usually play the second nine better also. I’ve been to the driving range plenty of times, but never played the course. I gotta say it looks extremely challenging.
It can play pretty tough, especially with wind since it's very open. Definitely worth playing and it's never an issue getting a tee time. Their online reservation system is great and the staff is just about the friendliest around. I called the afternoon before and they told me I could tee off as early as I want, and just pay at the turn or after.
@@MikeGolfsOregon Sweet; I love when the staff has a good feel for you and doesn’t sweat it. Killarney West does the same for me as well as Golf city in Corvallis. And I know that feeling when you show up to an empty parking lot; especially when you want to record your round it is Primo! I’m going to play that course when it isn’t windy.
I played this course for my final tournament, the rain was so heavy that there was visible puddles of water on the green. Couldn't hit my ball more than 5 ft without it splashing and stopping
I've played several courses in those conditions, including your home course. Never fun and always makes me question why I'm still out there trying.
@@MikeGolfsOregon Oh believe me, I was questioning why they even still had the tournament 🤣🤣
It's Oregon. Only lightning stops the round!
@@MikeGolfsOregon That's exactly what I said in the moment 🤣🤣
