- Keeping yourself looking clean and presentable is not only necessary for your impression but for your own health. On the battlefield, combatants weren’t your only enemy. Such things as disease, and trench foot, among other threats, were major causes of casualties. In order to prevent yourself from suffering from these ailments, it was important to keep up with your personal hygiene.

Adding to the hydration portion- don’t sacrifice your health and hydration for the sake of accuracy. If you need to drink out of the plastic water bottle, do it. Better than being in the ER cause you passed out

Good stuff! And nothing has changed. Troops feet are an NCO's duty. 27x years infantry, as a paratrooper Abn Inf in Italy/Germany or the States, ten weeks in the field - a pair of sox a day... T-shirt every week - you just threw them away. Bathing was about tooth brush only, face always green w camo. Yah you smelled, so bad soap smelled like rancid perfumed fat. In the Middle East Iraq showers were a waste of time you could have spent sleeping, & deadly! read about that. You smelled like a horse pretty soon, & I like how horses smell, ask any cowgirl =)

Also- don't neglect your junk. Every chance you get, soak your Nuts in a helmet of hot soapy water (preferably, someone else's helmet).
