ZONEofTECH Daniel, replace Chrome with Brave browser. It’s still using Chromium if you’re worried about the extensions. It uses less RAM and does not track you to insanity like Google Chrome. I hope you give it a go to test it.
I can't justify the $1,000 price gap between the base MacBook Pro versus the flagship. There is only a $100 price difference between iPhone Pros and $200 between iPad Pros, so I always get the flagship for those devices. I will upgrade to the 2019 base Pro from my current 2017 base Pro model.
I decided on a 15". I work my laptop almost all day long. Either writing or working. I finally upgraded after running my 2012 Macbook pro into the ground for six years.
Great video, I just bought the base model 2019 15inch pro and I cant wait for it to come in the mail. I'm finally leaving my Microsoft PC for a Macbook!
Not a content creator. Just avg user. Bought 13" AND 15" MBP 2018. Used 2 weeks side by side trying to decide. Love 15" screen but physical size just TOO BIG + HEAVY, FITS NO PURSE + few totebags. Power + speed differences not even noticeable to avg users. Returned 15" with ZERO regrets.
Can you compare the iPad Pro to the MacBook again (I’m pretty sure you’ve done this before) now that the ipads have gotten a huge boost in productivity with ipados 13?
In my humble opinion, iPad Pro is still not worth the cost unless you have a workflow that explicitly requires precise pen style input. $999 for the base 12.9 inch, plus a few extra hundred dollars for the pen, keyboard/case, and Bluetooth headphones, and you’re ending up with a total package cost of around almost $1.4k At that point, the MacBook Air and the 2017 MacBook Pro let you do so much more, even if the iPad Pro is faster at a few tasks.
goJesusandStarcraft But you don’t really need a pen or Bluetooth headphones to get the experience of a MacBook with an iPad. All you really need is a Bluetooth mouse (~$15) and a cheap Bluetooth keyboard case. And plus, expanding this you could opt for an iPad Air, which while it is 2 inches smaller than the MacBook, is half the price with a keyboard. And I do think that the work that could get done on a 12” MacBook could now be done on an iPad with iPadOS, because what do you do with a MacBook? Probably email, internet, FaceTime and iMessage, all that could be done on an iPad, plus you get a productivity bonus with ipados, something that wasn’t available before. Someone that’s going to go out and buy a MacBook Pro or a MacBook Air isn’t gonna need going to consider an iPad, because they both have competent CPU options anyways so you could get work done. The MacBook comes with an m3(a throttling one at that) and at $1299 it probably would be more cost effective to go with any iPad with it’s far superior A12 processor.
@@evancrazyerror Sure, the iPad is definitely a better option than the MacBook, but that's in part due to the MacBook being a very terrible option to begin with. But you have some fair points, it's just that I personally wouldn't bother buying an iPad for productivity.
evandarkfire I’ve got to disagree. As someone with an iPad Mini with an A12 chip, whilst yes it’s powerful, iPadOS is still horrendously limiting as an Operating system when compared to MacOS or Windows, it will never function is freely. iPadOS improves on the software limits a lot, but seeing as iOS 13 gets Safari’s download manager and it’s File system too makes an iPad moot. An iPhone and MacBook offers more potential than an iPhone and an iPad. Anything you’re looking at doing on the iPad can be done on an iPhone. Unless you use pencil input for your work then a MacBook is better. You probably already have a decent iPhone anyway. Apple cares more about iOS and MacOS too, meaning iPadOS will never reach MacOS’ capabilities. All my music is lossless, which the iPad sucks just as much as an iPhone to download and store in my music library, so I have to use iTunes to sort it.
@@alhayom9479 Check out the Geekbench (9:04) and other tests...8 core i9, 32GB RAM & Vega 20 is NOT the base model 15". The six core i7, 16GB RAM and Radeon is the base model.
Great comparison, but I have a few inputs. A common misunderstanding is that a CPU with 5 GHZ boost clock should be running at that speed when running heavy loads. That is not the case - This is just clever marketing from Intel. That speed is only achievable in very specific scenarios - The temperature has to be quite low, it will usually only run that speed on a single core and only for a short period of time(Due to the temperature increasing). So when running heavy loads on multiple cores the boost will usually only be 100-200 mhz. Look up "Intel Thermal Velocity Boost" if you want all the details. I would love to have you touch on the subject of fan-noise. Especially comparing the 13" with an e-gpu to the 15" without e-gpu. The GPU is the big difference so I suspect that those two setups would be what many heavy users are considering. But the 15" would have to cool it's own GPU which I suspect will result in increased fan-noise. The 13" with e-gpu would give you both portability when on the go and power when at home.
I can (kinda) afford it, but if I do have many choices for a laptop, I won't even choose the Macbook Pro. I do have an ASUS laptop with a 7th gen i7 processor, 12GB of RAM, and a Nvidia GPU and it serves me very well when it comes to Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro :DD

The 15 looks like a nice uplift, but the 13 seems to not really be growing in specs. Doesn't seem like there is any reason for an upgrade if you're on 13s yet. Perhaps once they can cram a 6 core with 32GB of ram, or even just a SUPER efficient 9th/10th gen quad core with higher sustained clocks, lower battery drain and a better iGPU to maximise that portability while maintaining that crunching power. The 15 is just too big for a portable daily driver for me, we also use TB3 docks with dell 34" ultrawides at work and similar large screens with docs at most client sites so portability is key. Overall a good video but you should be throwing the 2018 and maybe 2017 models up for comparison.

@Dominik Wetscher Thanks a lot. So you think it will work fine with omnisphere and kontakt with all other effects? And I will use it for live performance. Because I don't want to make mistake with buying wrong or too weak macbook. You have experience with 13'? :)
Do you think it's worth it to upgrade the 13 inch from 1.4 i5 processor to 1.7 i7 ?? thanks.
Some other reviewer said it wasn't worth it bc a few years ago the difference between i5 and i7 was only i7 had hyperthreading but now i5 has that too. So only noticable difference now is i7 will be slightly faster.
@@allyson2day thanks!
I’m still deciding between a maxed out 13 inch or a base 15 inch.. hard choice..
Ricardo Hagar I have a maxed out 13inch macbook pro and use it for music production, it’s a beast to work on, I love it, it depends on what you’re going to be using the macbook for as well.
Wow, thank you!
