Great review. Had No.89 for over 15 years and now coming to the end of my bottle. I'd say it's more suited to over 30's. It's still a favourite and I'll be buying again or possibly Floris Santal to replace my Gucci Envy which is 60% depleted and now unavailable. Loved the Floris store at 89 Jermyn Street, London where I bought my first bottle. I hear that the store has just undergone its first refurbishment in 100 years and I do hope they kept the character of the original store.

Tired of Fools Same with me, I saw pic of TGV and immediately smiled. Love them both, bought some timepieces because of UrbanGentry and bought few perfumes because of MrSmelly (most notable discovery was Gorse). Thanks for both this channels exist!
Beautiful fragrance. I’m fortunate to have in my possession several vintage ( ca.1990 ) bottles of the ‘toilet water’ and ‘after-shave’. They were given to me by my late great-uncle who wore No.89 as his signature scent ( along with Guerlain’s Vetiver) since the 1950s. The vintage edt concentration is potent, and even the after-shave gives phenomenal performance in comparison to the rather thin edt juice being produced nowadays. The fragrances have matured well. The quality of the composition is superb- they have actually become at the same time more nuanced and potent with age. I also have a bottle each of vintage Floris Special No. 127 (1890/1910) and Rose Geranium, both dated to the late 1960’s, but they have soured.
Excellent review. Just got half a dozen Floris samples to find something I like. My grandfather, in his prime in the 50s and 60s used to smell like this after a wet shave. Very nice indeed. Will invest in a proper bottle.

I'll just add that the House of Floris has been a heavy hitter in the wet shaving community for years, but I've been surprised that it hasn't been represented much in the online fragrance community until very recently.
This fragrance smells like cat pee on talcum powder to me. I really want to like it but I haven't been able to get my nose around it yet. I have a bottle. But I can't get my nose around Guerlain Habit Rouge either. I have Floris Elite and it's in my personal signature scent collection. It smells like a beautiful hybrid of Polo Green and Bois du Portugal!
I love this scent. When I first sampled it, it smelled familiar, like something from a long time ago.. but I couldn't place it. Later I realized that (to my nose) it's in the same realm as British Sterling, so that's probably where the connection came from as it was a cologne that was around when I was a teenager. I prefer Floris Elite to this, so I'd like to know what you think of that sometime as well. To me it's a tad sweeter, less powdery and move versatile EDT than No. 89.
Remember Gents.. all scents smell different on each of us.. the 89 is great.. it will be a scent that people will ask what it is. As the 89 has stood the test of time ( it's 2020 now) how long will the new ones last is the question for the new generation 79 years for this one and still selling with no problems. A real Gentleman knows...
I remember back in the 90s Floris was considered a rich old ladies brand. I always thought it was kinda cool because it is mentioned in The Scent of a Woman.

I just bought Floris Limes......I love it!!! Lately I tried 19 samples from several niche and designer perfumes; Limes is fantastic and also very important: longlasting! Regards
I have a few invicta watch , good bang per buck watches , I have one floris cologne, a vintage traditional cologne by them , i to explore this house more
I know that everyone's experience would probably be different, but given its age and the sort of genre that is fits in if you will, I get some pretty lovely projection from it. Not a bomb, but I definitely wouldn't consider it a skin scent, so to speak.
im my opinion its good that its not that known and understated because other fragrances are worn to death by so many people for example bleu de chanel, eros etc.

Another great video, Mr. Smelly! Would you say the projection and longevity is closer to original ADP Colonia or Colonia Essenza? When I went to Saks Fifth Avenue and bought Essenza on your recommendation, they gave me a 5ml sample of original Colonia. I love the Essenza and get pretty good performance out of it, but although I really like Colonia, it just doesn’t do well on me at all performance wise.

I wish that you would save the musical bits for the end of your videos, as it is irksome to have to skip through them to the point where the relevant content starts. The Fragrance James Bond taking a look at Ian Fleming's signature scent. There is nothing more appropriate. Also, I was wondering if you could help me with something. I've been trying to find a scent that represents the literary James Bond. Ian Fleming's James Bond not the film version. In the novels, James Bond doesn't wear a scent (terrible). In the novels, James Bond chain-smokes high grade custom made cigarettes, he drinks a lot of bourbon or whiskey rye and he showers constantly, sometimes up to four times a day. Therefore, I've come to the conclusion that he would likely smell like: 1) Tobacco. 2) Rye or Whiskey, Bourbon or another quality spirit and 3) Soapy. Do you know if there are any fragrances that fit this image?

I bought this, big mistake. Smells awful, don’t waist your money. If you want to smell like an old man/granny, than go ahead. Chick repellent, and smells old
Real talk....I blind bought this based on good reviews and it smells like an old man in a barbershop, I wore it and my lady friend said "you smell like woods ..don't wear that again"

71/72 Turnbull & Asser is my favorite Floris.
